(72) Craft Your Perfect Morning Routine For Success
At the start of my personal development journey, I was obsessed with morning routines. I looked them up all the time and even paid Asian Efficiency for their morning routine course & template. From years of studying and implementing it. There are a few key concepts that always come up: Prepare your mind, body and spirit for the day. Starting the day pro-actively and not reactively. Journaling: A great exercise is the morning pages by Julia Cameron – this helps with clarity, insights and creativity! Meditation: A 5min to the 1-hour practice of meditation is beneficial for focus & emotions throughout the day. It is the one pillar of my morning routine that I never skip. You can use Insight Timer to track your progress. Exercise: Waking up the body physically is a must! It makes so much of a difference, even if it is just a 5min. stretch! Cold Shower: I love Wim Hof work on cold exposure. Cold showers are a wonderful way to improve the immune system, change our mood, and build resilienceBreakfast & Hydration: Being hydrated is important as it helps us to think clearly, and food is a bonus! (Some people prefer to skip breakfast as part of intermittent fasting – I always eat breakfast but sometimes skip diner as a form of intermittent fasting). Having a great morning routine in place can make a huge difference in your day! It is a great way to set yourself up for success! (70) How to Fall In Love With The Process
As a result-oriented person, I can understand the impatience that comes with the process. Sometimes, we can dislike the journey because we are so eager to reach the end goal. There are a few reasons why this is not satisfying in the long run. Firstly, we rarely stop to celebrate goals before we rush to set new ones. Secondly, goals are achieved in a brief moment in time so the enjoyment does not last. Finally, the process is all we ever have. Five key tips to make the process more enjoyable:Look at processes you already enjoy and learn what it is about them that is enjoyable!Gamify your work and keep it fun to ensure that you have momentum and enjoy it – this makes it a lot more likely to enter flow!Track your progress, using a habit tracker, or any form of tracking. Reward yourself for your milestones in the journeyTurn your dislike into like by using an NLP technique. There are many ways that we can use to make the journey more enjoyable. It is essential to have this type of perception as we are happier and more productive as we go about reaching our goals!VIDEO of this episode:YouTube VideoABOUT Katie Stoddart:Katie Stoddart is an award-winning, international, high-performance coach. (68) How to Stop Procrastinating Your Dreams
All too often we place our dreams and goals on a pedestal, out of reach. We set too high expectations for ourselves and get discouraged along the way. Some important concepts: The main reasons why we procrastinate are: too high expectations and perfectionism; fear of failure and rejection; being an end-to-start plannerTo overcome this, one of the best methods is to: break down the big goal into small achievable steps. Each small step contributes to incremental progress. Changing your self-talk to understand your thought patterns and beliefs can also make a huge difference! Having an accountability partner sometimes is the missing piece of the puzzle! It can be game-changing in terms of motivation, and ongoing progress! By acknowledging that you do have a dream you aspire to and putting in place daily actions towards it: you transform your dream into a project and then it can become reality!
