79. Zark Fatah: Changing Your Life After The Age of 40

“Success means different things to different people. You create your own definition of success, and it has nothing to do with the type of car you’re driving or the brand of watch you’re wearing.” When this episode’s guest hit 40, he realized something had to change.Despite spending 15 years in the entertainment and hospitality industry [where he’d launched a dozen businesses], Zark Fatah didn’t have the life he wanted. His success felt superficial because it was based on material possessions. He felt lonely in love, he didn’t jump out of bed to get to work, and because he had a habit of spending more than he earned, he was hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.It was a wake up call.Surely there was more to life than this? The man in the mirror wasn’t the guy he wanted to be. So he let go, deconstructed his life, and redefined himself - beyond recognition. And in this episode, you get to hear what Zark did and how his life has changed as a result.“As humans, we are all curious individuals. It’s just in our nature to wonder about things. The difference is how we act on those curiosities.” It’s never too late to start a personal development journey and you can reinvent yourself whether you’re in your 20s, 30s, 40s, and beyond. As Zark’s story shows us, it’s all a case of mindset. It’s a choice and a decision to walk away from what you don’t want and take action towards the things that will bring joy, passion and love.Today, Zark’s life couldn’t be more different than his ‘nightlife’ past. Through ALIVE Experiences, Zark is creating curated travel experiences for people who want profound breakthroughs. It’s a business and a life that fills Zark with joy - because it’s a reflection of what he’s passionate about. But how did he get to this point? In this episode, you’ll find out! That’s because we talk about:Why you can use your story to empower and inspire othersHow to NOT get to 40 until you realize you need to walk a different pathThe difference between superficial success and ‘real’ successThe powerful link between giving and successHow curiosity unlocks a life you loveAnd much, MUCH more.Zark is an inspiration to me. He’s a beautiful human who infuses his life with joy, passion, and love. His story is reminder that you can start from scratch and reinvent your life - and you can start that today.“It’s important to decide for yourself: What is your purpose? She thought she had her life figured out from the age of five. All she ever wanted was to play soccer professionally - and she was good enough. But when she hit 21, she realized soccer wasn’t her destiny. It was a revelation that left a massive void in Phoebe’s life - and she had to figure out how to close it.Letting go of her soccer dream made Phoebe realize that you don’t have to restrict yourself to a single identity. Instead, you can pick and choose who you want to be and how to want to show up - on a daily basis (if that feels right). This realization empowered Phoebe to create a life on her terms that’s a full expression of who she wants to be. It’s how she’s able to travel extensively, podcast regularly, and build an aligned business that lights her up.Guided by her feelings, Phoebe now walks her talk by showing other entrepreneurs how to build a successful business that’s an extension of who they are. 76. Logan Christopher: Using Time in Nature to Fuel an Extraordinary Life

“You have certain mentors that are human beings. Why keep it to one species? You can learn things you can never learn from any human from talking to a tree or a mushroom or a plant.” Drum roll please because this episode is a Stay Grounded first! That’s because it’s the very first time I’ve brought an old guest back into the interview chair. You may remember Logan ‘strongman’ Christopher from episode 35 when he revealed how an experience in the Amazon changed his life. Well, things have moved on since then. Logan has jumped much deeper into his connection with nature. In fact, he now describes himself as an emissary of nature - someone who communicates deeply with the wildlife, plants, and landscapes around him. At the surface level, this may sound a bit crazy, but hear Logan speak and I guarantee you’ll never look at nature through the same lens again. This episode is a beautiful opportunity to expand your definition of self. It’s a chance to explore how you can open up different parts of your being and it’s a moment to discover how working with nature leaves you feeling whole. It’s a doozy :-)“Churches are often built with this awe-inspiring look to them that can help us reach that transcendental state. Nature is much the same. A grove of trees is in some ways very similar to a church.” In this beautiful conversation, Logan shares what’s possible when we reconnect with nature. Here in the West we’re very brain-centric. We see thinking as the pinnacle of the human experience and it’s cut us off from nature. But at what cost?Logan believes strengthening our relationship with nature can positively affect us in many profound ways. It can lower stress levels, help us think more creatively, and boost our health and wellbeing - to name just a dew benefits. In this episode we discuss why:You need to slow down to speed up [yes, it feels counter-intuitive]Immersing in the complexity of nature allows us to see past our linear human experienceTransforming our relationship with food can transform our health and dietWe’ve totally underestimated the heart and what its real function isTalking with nature allows you to download insights and understanding about lifeAnd soooooo much more.Logan believes if we only look to learn from other humans, we’re limiting our ability to understand the world. Nature is a powerful teacher [if we let it] and in this episode you’ll discover how and why.So take some time to soak up Logan’s wisdom. He’ll leave you thinking in a whole new direction.“Being able to look at nature in awe I think is a powerful thing and something that, if people did it more often, it would serve them well.” How to contact Check out Logan’s new book, Powered By Nature at https://poweredbynaturebook.com. Not only will your purchase include a free gift card, but you’ll save 2 acres of Peruvian rainforest too (that’s approximately 400 trees). We thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. 73. Aimee Tariq: How Near Death Experiences Can Be Your Greatest Teacher

“I was not scared of the illness itself. I thought, "This is just something that’s happening. It’s not going to be permanent. Either I’ll die or get better — those are the only two options I’m going to give myself."” When Aimme’s heart raced to 200bpm - even when she wasn’t doing anything - she knew there was something seriously wrong. At the time, the medical community didn’t even have a name for Aimee’s chronic condition - but that turned out to be a blessing.Aimee’s condition left her drained and debilitated. It was so severe she couldn’t even brush her teeth by herself. Aimee didn’t want to live like this. It wasn’t OK for her; so she made a choice. She knew she’d either die or get better.Turned out, life wanted the latter for her. When you’re not boxed in with a label or a specific diagnosis, you’re more able to tune into your own intuition. It’s what Aimee did. She removed toxins from her life, started eating organic, and invested in alternative therapies. The results were astounding. Aimee went from being able to do nothing, to becoming a best-selling author and health optimization consultant who’s currently exploring a variety of exciting projects.“I never limit myself by telling myself who I am. I just tell myself who I want to be.” Nowadays, Aimee teaches professionals how to optimize their productivity, energy, and ability to focus by controlling their physical and emotional wellbeing.I found Aimee’s story so inspiring. It takes incredible courage to cultivate a mindset and willingness to heal yourself - but that’s exactly what Aimee’s been able to do.And in this episode, she reveals how. So tune in now and discover:Why a dream about her grandpa made her realize death can be beautiful - not something to fearWhy Aimee believes who we are can change everydayThe importance of empathy for business (and life) and a surprising way to cultivate this abilityWhy fear isn’t irrational - and how you can use fear signals to live betterThe reason you feel better when you’re able to shift someone else’s emotionsAnd so much more :)Aimee is an inspiration - not just because of how she navigated her way back from a health rock bottom, but because of her willingness to grow through everything. She’s an example how life often gives you what you want (in a roundabout way). Listen to the end and you’ll see why her illness actually led to the work she wanted to do back in her teens.“I view life as a learning experience.
