111. Becoming a Minimalist : Determine Wants vs Needs & Make Room for What Matters Most

Do you find yourself spending money irresponsibly from time to time on items you do not need? Have you ever asked yourself, how much is enough? Is it hard to find something when you need it because you have to dig through items on items on items that you don’t use, want or need? Do you feel overwhelmed when picking an outfit for the day because you have too many options? What I have found to be extremely helpful for my bank account and living space is to only purchase and own things that bring value into my life. When I was able to get clear on wants vs needs, I was able to make room for what mattered most to me and I was able to begin living a minimalistic lifestyle which has been a game changer. What is a minimalist lifestyle? It means living with things you really need. It means removing anything that distracts you from living with intentionality and freedom. Four Rules To Living A Minimalist Lifestyle (1) Get Rid Of The Clutter : Clearing the clutter frees up physical space in my house and it provides more mental clarity as my living space isn’t filled with a bunch of useless items (2) Live With Intention : By getting intentional about what I own and determining if it actually does bring value to my life, I can make space for what matters and hold myself back from buying things that I truly do not need (3) Wants vs Needs : When getting clear on wants vs needs, it allows us to to focus more time, energy & money on what we value the most (4) Material Items Don’t Bring Happiness : Material items will never be our ticket to a lifetime of happiness   Challenge For The Listeners First : Please watch the documentary on Netflix, Minimalism : A Documentary About The Important Things Second : Start with your bedroom and pile up all the things / items you have not used in 6+ months. Donate and get rid of it. Questions from The BMC Ben : How to get over the hump of getting rid of things you no longer need but feel bad letting go? 109. Self-Care Routines : Five Daily Activities to Help Feel My Best Self

Are there daily activities you do to help feel your best? Are these activities nonnegotiable or do you do them only when you have “the time” to do it? What if you committed to a handful of self-care routines that helped you feel your best self, how would that change your mood & energy on a daily basis? Today I want to discuss the five self care routines that have become part of my daily life. By committing and staying disciplined to them on a daily basis, they help me feel my best self each and every day. 5 Self-Care routines that help me feel my best (1) Hydrate : I do my best to make sure I’m drinking enough water throughout the day. By doing so, I genuinely feel better and more motivated for the day ahead of me. (2) Workout for 60 mins : I push to get 60 mins of sweat per day, no excuses. It helps me jumpstart my day by getting the blood moving and it prepares my mind & body for what’s in front of me. (3) Read for 30 mins : Adding 30 mins of reading into my day has helped me become a better version of myself. Once you find the right book categories to read, it no longer feels like a chore to pick up a book. (4) Journal for 10 mins  : 10 mins of journaling per day not only sets good intention for the day ahead but it also provides an outlet for me to let out whatever emotions are running through my mind at the moment, for good or for bad.    (5) Meditate for 10 mins : 10 mins of mediation helps clear the mind and sets good intention for the day. When we refocus on the present moment, we’re only worrying about what’s in front of us today.   Challenge For The Listeners Think about 1 self-care routine you’ve always wanted to test / try but have came up with every excuse in the book to NOT do Starting today, I challenge you to go 7 days straight trying that new routine out Reassess how you feel after a week and consider if it’s something you want to continue to do moving forward Questions from The BMC Natjean : Nutrition Orlando : Setting boundaries with roommates who don’t share similar routines or lifestyles Emma : Motivation to do all those self care things   Got a topic / question you want me to cover? 107. Breaks Are Crucial : Rest, Reset & Recharge

Have you ever felt burnt out & unmotivated to do the work or task in front of you? Have there been days when you know you should take a break from work, hanging with people, partying etc but yet you dismiss it and keep on going? Have there been moments when you told yourself “I need some me time” but yet you never find a way to make the time? Today I want to talk about the importance of taking breaks and how they’re crucial to our wellbeing. Although we may feel like we’re taking 2 steps back by slowing down, in actuality when we rest, reset & recharge we come back refreshed & are able to make massive leaps forward. Two major benefits of taking breaks (1) Space Allows for reflection : By doing so, we can assess if we’re headed down the right path or if maybe we should switch things up a bit. (2) Regain Momentum & Inspiration : By the time we’re ready to jump back in, we’re off to the races and ready to go because we’re reenergized & excited to get back to it.   Challenge for the listeners Ask yourself today, do you give yourself permission to take breaks when necessary? If no, consider how doing so may actually benefit you as we discussed today. Questions from The BMC Emily : Does waking up early (6am) vs sleeping later (9am) impact well-being? Hagen : Active rest > static rest, from a physiological standpoint you want to get the blood moving Jordan Tarver : Taking breaks to self-reflect   Got a topic / question you want me to cover? 105. Get Dialed In : How to Make Change in Any Area Of Your Life

Are there certain aspects of your life that you neglect or barely put any effort into? Do you wish certain areas of your life were different? Are you putting effort into an area of your life and feel like you’re not getting results you wished for? Today I want to discuss the importance of getting Dialed In on the areas of your life that matter most to you. By doing so, we can allocate time and energy into it so that we can make change moving forward. Three steps to Getting Dialed In Step 1 : We must recognize what area or areas of our life need to be worked on. Without doing that, we won’t make any progress because it’s not a priority to us.  Step 2 : We must lock in time in our day, week or month so that we can commit effort into bettering this aspect of our life. Once that times comes, we must cut out all distractions and go all in on it. Step 3 : We must assess progress and make adjustments when necessary. If things are running smoothly and we feel good about where we’re headed, there’s no need to change anything. If it ain’t broke… don’t fix it   Challenge For The Listeners Take a few minutes today, open the notes app on your phone and prioritize what areas of your life are most important to you right now. After that, find time during the week where you can commit to “x” area of your life. Stick with it for some time, assess the progress & make adjustments if necessary. 103. Dating Takes Effort : Have Confidence, Shoot Your Shot & Repeat

Have you ever been rejected after shooting your shot with someone you’re attracted to? Have you been left on read or got no reply when asking someone out? Have there been moments you question if there is something wrong with you because you can’t seem to find someone consistent? Dating is like any area of our life, it takes time and effort in order to see any amount of progress. I can promise you one thing, there is nothing wrong with you it’s all just a numbers game. Don’t let rejection or not being able to find someone hold you back, if anything, let it fuel the fire within you to keep throwing yourself out there. Four Reminders for The Dating Playbook Step 1 : There is no progress without effort so we must be willing to put in the reps in order to see any amount of progress. Mr or Mrs Wonderful won’t just come knocking on our door, we need to put ourselves in a position to meet them. Step 2 : It’s a numbers game, keep shooting your shot until something clicks. It doesn’t matter how many shots you’ve taken, just keep shooting. Step 3 : Rejection is inevitable. Use that energy to push you forward instead of it holding you back because at some point we will get the “yes”. Step 4 : Keep your head held high no matter how things play out because you at least trying is a massive step in the right direction in of itself.   Challenge for the listeners How do you feel about your dating life today? Are you happy? Is it nonexistent? Do you feel like nothing is “clicking”? Think about the four steps in todays dating playbook and ask yourself which ones you need to incorporate more into your life. Start today and reassess the progress in the weeks to come. Questions from The BMC Alyssa : How can a girl tell a guy to put her in the friend zone? Aaron : What are the pros / cons of dating apps?
