N27: Dr. William Kraemer - History of the Husker

Today we are joined by Dr. William Kraemer on Episode 27 of The Hawkin Podcast.   Dr. Kraemer is ranked the number 1 sports scientist in the field, he also established himself as one of the Google Scholars, ranking in the top 0.5 to 1% in his field. Previously he has held full professorships at The Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, Ball State University, and the University of Connecticut along with appointments at their medical schools. Prior to his scientific career, he was a teacher and coach of football, wrestling, and strength coaching in athletics at the secondary and college levels.  Dr. Kraemer has published 12 books, over 500 peer-reviewed papers in the scientific literature, and over 100 chapters along and a multitude of other educational publications. Additionally, he was a commissioned officer in the United States Army working in the Exercise Physiology Division at the U.S. Army’s Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, Natick Massachusetts. N19: Trey Hall - Director of Football Strength and Conditioning University of Maine

Trey Hall is the head football sports performance coach. Hall joined the Black Bears after spending a season as the assistant football strength and conditioning coach at Yale University. N18: James Mcfarland - High School Strength Coach of the Year

James McFarland is a Teacher of Health and Physical Education and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at Hillsborough High School, NJ. He was the National High School Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year 2018, and Hillsborough High Schools Teacher of the Year in 2008. Jim has been responsible for the health and physical education planning and implementation of Hillsborough High School’s Strength and Conditioning Program since he began in 1997. In 1999 he was given the charge of coordinating the year round afterschool strength and conditioning program for students in grades 9-12, and given permission to begin the intermediate school and middle school year-round co-curricular programs. While continuing these programs, James has been involved with 8 collaborative research studies in youth exercise science with The College of New Jersey and has over 20 published works. He has been a speaker for the NSCA since his start as a certified strength and conditioning specialist in 2001, and has been an adjunct professor for The College of New Jersey’s practical exercise science course for 4 years. His practical experience is fortified with his USAW Senior Level Certification, and extensive experience in youth competitive Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting. James holds in high regard his professional relationship with Yale Strength and conditioning for football, lacrosse, field hockey and soccer, as well as the New Balance sponsored Northeast Kingdom Running Camp.
