If You Own A Microgym In 3000 SQFT Or Less, You're In Big Trouble

The title is soaked in clickbait but the topic is completely legit. Barbell intensive, group fitness models need to really consider the micro-level numbers of their business to realize that their love affair with a certain training program may not fit into their 2,500sqft facility from a P&L standpoint.

Alfred Wilson (OPEX Concord) & I Jam On The Barbell Being GREAT for Fitness, BAD for Business

Alfred and I run two completely different fitness business models. He is focusing on the client:coach relationship with a lasting, tailored, specific fitness program... ...And I am not. With that in mind, we have differences of opinions when it comes to the utilization of the barbell.  Check out Alfred's operation at @opex.concord

These Exercises Are Useless For GPP + Operational Capacity

The Snatch, Kipping Handstand Pushup and Back Squat are OVERRATED AS FUCK for a fitness program focused on GPP + Operational Capacity.   Please try to change my mind.

This Is Why You Need To Be An Extrovert To Win At This Game

You or someone you hire MUST BE AN EXTROVERT. Must be willing to talk to strangers. To market and sell, direct to the consumer. If you think that your failing microgym is going to resurrect itself while you take the weekends off because you won't participate in off-site marketing plays, you're in for a rude awakening. The New Marketing Funnel that I'm breaking down in it's entirety at my One Day Biz Seminar in Boston, MA on Feb 22nd is re-writing what it means to acquire warm, brand aware leads. I highly recommend you attend - tickets are available maybe.

Your Marketing Goals Are Fucked

So many microgym owners have these visions of 30,40,50 member signups. 100 leads per month at the push of a button. But the fundamental flaw here is too obvious for me not to spit on it.

Why Do You Make Your Fitness Program So Damn Complicated

KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. I think the average microgym owner is far too wrapped up in their purist route of a performance enhancing program vs what they avatar client they seek actually wants. Kinda like the butcher who is telling you how his Kobe beef, cured, grain fed, pasture raised hamburger is absolutely the best....but you have to cook it this special way that takes 2 hours....and if you don't pair it with this kind of wine, you'll fuck it all up. See the comparison?

Jammin' With Joe - Ep. 3275

Not going to lie, we make sure to offend several different groups on this podcast....so yeah, that's a pretty good reason to listen right there. But beyond that we get into how the actual members of your gym dictate your brand, so make sure to develop the right kind of culture to attract the right kind of clientele....

Putting Branding Before Marketing

Towards the end of 2019, I put on a 2 day re-branding summit for microgyms called the SELF MADE SUMMIT.    You might have heard of it.  It was an incredible event and we are considering doing it again next year. A lot of the guts of what was discussed there had to do with the idea of REBRANDING vs REPOSITIONING. This is something I'm going to get deep into at my One Day Biz Seminar in Boston, MA on Feb 22nd - but I think the thing we need to establish first is the difference between branding vs. marketing and why I believe you need to lead with branding first.  If you haven't bought your tickets yet - get on it!   This One Day Biz Seminar is going to be the best investment you can make in the first part of 2020 in your business.

Creating Profit Via Fitness Events with Kyle Oland

Kyle Oland is a digital marketer by trade, but he has ventured into another entrepreneurial venture that many microgym owners do annually - he is putting on a large scale fitness competition. Now that in and of itself is nothing special.   And he knew that - so he decided to add a unique element. By bringing yours truly to host a business seminar for microgym owners, there is now added value to and more of a reason to attend for his avatar client. Kyle and I jam on the business of event hosting and how this business seminar is going to be a great way for any Mid Atlantic based gyms to make a weekend trip to Charleston, SC on March 7-8th.   Use this link to grab tickets now.  https://fittestofthecoast.com/affiliate-owner-seminar/
