What is plant based nutrition with Roslyn Kent

Roslyn Kent is a plant based Registered Holistic Nutritionist living in Vancouver, BC. She specializes in the microbiome, gut health and helps active women struggling with IBS and similar gut health imbalances conquer and manage their symptoms through evidence based, plant based nutrition strategies when conventional medicine has failed them. Roslyn suffered from IBS herself for over 10 years, and despite seeing countless doctors, specialists, nutritionists, naturopaths, dieticians, and therapists, she wasn't given the solutions or the information she needed to tackle her symptoms. In 2018, Roslyn took her health into her own hands, enrolled in the Natural Nutrition Program at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist where uncovered the ins and outs of what constitutes a healthy microbiome. And in the progress, she realized what the missing piece was when it came to her own journey with IBS: No one was talking about nutrition or how your food choices significantly impact your microbiome. Today, Roslyn runs her own 12 month program, The Plant Powered Gut Academy, where she works alongside women struggling with gut health imbalances to implement nutrition, lifestyle and supplement strategies that are backed by science, restore their relationship with food, and get back to the activities they love, all the while living a plant powered lifestyle. When Roslyn isn't working with clients online, you can find her in the mountains—backcountry skiing, hiking in the alpine, or mountain biking. Roslyn is a firm believer in balance and seeking out nature, and she does just that every chance she can get. Why Music Is Good For Your Health

Recent studies show that listening to music provides many health benefits such as mood elevation, pain reduction, stress management, improved sleep quality, mental alertness and increased IQ. If you want to keep your brain engaged throughout the aging process, listening to or playing music is a great tool. It provides a total brain workout. Essentially, music gets your good genes moving. Music helps with mood, memory, learning, and basic brain function. But it also slows down the bad genes that cause brain degeneration, meaning that listening to music is like having a shield on your brain. You may not recognize it, but music is changing your life… for the better!!

How Air Purifiers Can Help With Snoring.

There are so many health benefits from clearing the air of irritants in your bedroom. Breathing easier can give you more energy and eliminate snoring. Better sleep can have dramatic effects on your immune system and your overall health. Allergens like pollen and dander will cause your airways to be more congested and that can contribute to snoring. Air purifiers can help snoring triggered by allergies and pollution. Poor quality air can irritate your upper airways, leading to stuffy and inflamed noses and throats. Air purifiers filter out the harmful particles that bring on these symptoms and can reduce snoring as a result. What looks like clean air can be filled with invisible particles and dirt. These microscopic air particles get into your airways, sinuses, and lungs and aggravate breathing issues like snoring and asthma. Thanks to our Austin Air Purifier, we are no longer snoring and are getting better sleep!!

Raising a Healthy Dog and Toxic Free

We all know to raise a healthy and happy dog they should get good mental stimulation, decent dog food, exercise, toys to play with, socialization and manners training. What so many people don't know, is there are toxic chemicals in their toys, glyphosate and other chemicals from lawns can be ingested, their food can be tainted with horrible chemicals and terrible ingredients, and quite possibly be over vaccinated. Therese walks us through her method of raising her Australian Labradoodle Murphy and touches on some experiences from her past labrador retrievers Toby, Zaki and Venus. A Happy 90th birthday to my Mom who would have been 90 years young today and is the reason why I love and respect animals so much.

Avoiding Toxic Toys for Your Kids

Children want to play and need to play! It is very important to their development and well-being. Toys are the number one item that parents buy their kids to play with. There are so many items on the market today and you can purchase them in a toy store, at the supermarket or the dollar store. But these toys must be free from toxic chemicals. Babies and young children can spend a lot of time chewing and sucking on their toys! Toys are regulated to some degree but primarily for their safety in size, shape and not so much for their toxicity. Ideally, toys should be made from sustainable, non-toxic wood, organic cotton, or other natural or organic materials.

Pregnancy and avoiding potentially harmful chemicals

More and more research is linking chemicals to birth defects, cancer, thyroid disorders, acne, asthma, diabetes, obesity, allergies, infertility, and even ADHD. If I had my way, every OB office and midwife in the U.S. would distribute information to their patients on how chemicals can affect a woman and her fetus. Women should be made aware of sources of exposure to chemicals in order to reduce the risks to the developing fetus. In this interview with Wendy Haskell-Andres, we talk about her pregnancy(due 7-25-2020) and how she managed to avoid chemicals as much as possible.

The Power of Raw Foods with Sharon Cryan with the Food Nerd.

Sprouting increases nutrient levels in grains, legumes, vegetables, nuts or seeds. Sprouts also contain lower levels of antinutrients, making it easier for your body to absorb all the nutrients they contain. Sharon, with 'Food Nerd' walks us through the process of sprouting and the benefits to your health. She created a product called Food Nerd that we will hear about as well that includes products with fruits, vegetables, and superfoods - and never any artificial or animal based ingredients. "We are always working with nature to provide you with all in one, plant based nourishment. Our goal is to make superfoods more convenient and accessible for you! Chia pudding is the underappreciated baby sister of overnight oats. Chia is a great source of omega 3 fatty acids, calcium, iron, and fiber. The soluble fiber of the chia soaks up water and the seed swells and becomes gelatinous (similar to flax seeds). This texture is incredible for creating delicious, healthy "puddings" that our taste buds, and our gut love!"
