More Listener Questions
On this episode, I answer two listeners questions! The first question is from a listener suffering with religious Scrupulosity and is struggling to figure out what to do with his lack of feeling. The second question is from a woman asking about what to do with her awareness of her thoughts. Scrup and Hyperawareness! So, get excited! It’s a two-fer!

ROCD: Relationship OCD
Relationship OCD, or ROCD, is you guessed it, an OCD sub-type focused on your relationship! Didn’t see it coming, did you?
On this episode, I go over the basics of Relationship OCD and treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Mindfulness. The whole episode is inspired by a listener who wanted to know more about ROCD and was having some issues with confidence within his own ROCD struggles.
If you have a question for a future episode, please visit the submit a question page! Of course, I read every question and will very likely put it in a future episode (anonymously, of course).
Please remember to subscribe to the podcast and leave a review over at your favorite podcast outlet. It means a great deal to me and it helps new listeners find us.

Psychodynamic Therapy and Brain Squirrels
Psychodynamic therapy and brain squirrels? This episode is a real mash up of odd brain stuff and nerdy therapy talk. First, I talk about a weird and unwanted trick my dog taught herself and how we can all learn a little something from my four-legged friend. Second, I answer a listener question! My listener asks about the differences between psychodynamic treatment and CBT for OCD. I’m certain this topic won’t be for everyone, but I hope I gave enough reasons why CBT is superior for OCD. Spoiler: CBT is better for OCD and anxiety than psychodynamic treatment.
For those of you looking to learn more about helpful and unhelpful things to do in therapy, you can read this IOCDF article from Drs McKay, Abromowitz, and Storch.
Thank you for listening! The FearCast could not continue without the questions and moral support of you, the listener. I am so grateful for your contributions and participation. We made it through a year! Here’s hoping to many more years!

5 Tip For Your Best Summer (with anxiety)
Summer is upon us (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere)! In this episode, I go over my top 5 things you can do to make this summer the best summer with anxiety you’ve ever had! Spoiler, it has to do with challenging yourself and doing exposures.
For my question this week, I answer a question from a listener who’s having trouble finding a qualified anxiety therapist through their insurance. Surprisingly, this is a really common problem. I go over how to find and vet a good therapist through your insurance. Additionally, I give some tips on how to find resources and counseling at lower or no cost.
If you have a question for a future episode, please click here to ask! For all previous episodes, please visit the Episode Page.
If you are trying to find a good therapist, the IOCDF has a great article on How To Find A Therapist.

Faith and Doubt: Guest Fr. Thomas Santa
Father Thomas Santa of the Scrupulous Anonymous newsletter stops by for this installment in the Faith and Doubt series! He was kind enough to spend his time discussing issues of faith and doubt and Scrupulosity from a Catholic perspective. It was truly an eye opening interview for me.

Conspiracy Theories and Listener Questions
Conspiracy theories are everywhere! We hear about them on the TV, from the news, from social media, and even our own brain! On this episode, we discuss our own conspiracy theories and what to do about them.
I also had the pleasure of responding to several listener questions! Hold onto your hats because they were pretty diverse! We go from Pure-O to dating and intimacy to sensorimotor OCD! This episode has it all.
The next episode will return to the Faith and Doubt series. All previous episodes, including our previous two on Scrupulosity and Faith with my guest Mike Erre are available through iTunes, or where ever you get your podcasts.
If you like the show, please remember to write a review of the show on iTunes, Stitcher, or your favorite podcast outlet. It helps others find the show, and more listeners mean more questions, and more questions mean more episodes!

Faith and Doubt: Guest Mike Erre
The Faith and Doubt Series has begun! This episode features a guest interview with Mike Erre. Aside from being an all around good and boisterous guy, Mike is a pastor and hosts the VOX Podcast. He was so kind to join me to discuss issues surrounding anxiety and doubt common among people Protestant Christians and he shared some wonderful insights.
In case you’re uncomfortable with the topic, this episode contains blatant discussions of faith and doubt from a Christian perspective. Future episodes will include perspectives from other faith traditions, but you have to start somewhere, right? You have been warned!
The episode also includes a listener’s question about whether OCD can create false feelings of attraction or otherwise sexual thoughts. I try to be quick about it, but I can only do so much to wrangle myself in.
Please visit the VOX Podcast to hear more from Mike Erre. If you want to learn more about the three levels of belief discussed on the show, you can read this article on Convictions, Persuasions, and Opinions level beliefs.
For more about Scrupulosity, please read this article at the California OCD and Anxiety Treatment Center.

Religious Scrupulosity
In this episode I discuss Religious Scrupulosity, which is a sub-type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder concerning religious or moral issues. As always, I tried to shoehorn more information in it that I really need. Hopefully the episode didn’t go too far off the rails. I can’t believe it took me this long to get to talking about Scrupulosity, but here we are.
I discuss what Religious Scrupulosity is, how it differs from general religious doubt, and how to treat it with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Lastly, I go over a tool found in Dr. Ian Osborn’s book, Can Christianity Cure My Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
As mentioned in the episode, here is the link to Dr. Ted Witzig’s Principles of Effective And Religiously-Sensitive Exposures
Finally, here are some other books or resources I either mentioned in the episode or think might be helpful:
Understanding Scrupulosity, by Thomas SantaThe Doubting Disease, by Joseph W. CiarrocchiScrupulosity: Where OCD Meets Faith, Religion, and Belief, by Kevin Foss, MFT
