Life's Teachers
Michael Jacovelli
Your 20s is a weird time. No one knows what they are doing. There are so many different options you can take but it can be so overwhelming. Its a bit of a nuisance when you speak to people older than you and they repeatedly say “your 20s are the best years of your life”. It puts a constant pressure on us that if we are not living our 20s to the fullest, then we are wasting this decade.
Well, this is why I started the LifesTeachers podcast where I help you to navigate your 20s. This podcast aims to educate you on people's valuable experiences as well as improve your self esteem and skill set t

#27 Leong from Lifespan Education - The Role of Failure in Personal Growth, Importance of Experimentation, Concerns for the Future Generation
I am fortunate enough today to be joined by Leong, the founder of lifespan education which is an organisation dedicated to promoting the joy of learning.
A viral video of Leong popped up on my Tiktok FYP, where he says that his goal is for his kids to have an awesome life and that does not necessarily mean that he has to be an awesome dad for them to achieve that.
He touches on how he believes that the social media landscape today concerns him and how we can help to shape it into something different for the future generation, to be a positive place where likeminded people can connect with each other and support one another. After watching that video, I knew I had to get Leong as a guest on my podcast.
On this episode, we speak about the variety of career paths Leong has navigated through over the course of his life so far, the importance of human interaction, not forgetting your roots when chasing a goal, the importance of experimentation when young, the role of failure in personal growth, the pressures of academic performance, lifespan education, finding enjoyment in your work as well as many other topics.

#23 Sarina Katsambanis - How cancer can affect families/what truly matters in life/ Sarina’s story
This is a sentimental podcast for me and one that definitely brought up all sorts of emotions. Episode 23 is with Sarina Katsambanis who is a long time family friend. I grew up playing soccer with her son Terry and from then on, our families have become incredible friends.
Over the last couple of years, life has thrown some big curve balls onto Sarina and her family. In February 2023, Peter Katsambanis (Sarina’s husband) sadly passed away after a long term battle with cancer. In the same year, Sarina’s ovarian cancer came back and she was determined to do whatever it took to make it to 2024. Thankfully for all of us, she did.
Sarina sheds light of how cancer has affected her family, the grief of losing a life partner, the importance of family and friendships, lessons she wish she learnt in her 20s, what is truly valuable in life, her mindset shift as well as reflect on the countless memories she has had thus far.
I hope this episode opens your eyes to what truly matters in life, makes you hug your loved ones a little tighter as well as hope you took away some valuable lessons away from this conversation.
