Creating Emotional Stability with Jay Fields (re-release)

In this episode, we discuss the challenge many smart, sensitive individuals face: overthinking and maladaptive patterns due to deeply ingrained relational conditioning and unconscious stress responses. Joining us is Jay Moon Fields, a renowned educator, coach, and author, who introduces her innovative Yours Truly™ program. It combines embodiment, neuroscience, and psychoeducation to help people not just know better but actually do better, improving self-relation and interpersonal connections. Discover a transformative approach to overcoming these common yet complex issues, fostering healthier relationships with both oneself and others. UPDATED LINK: https://jaymoonfields.com/ UPDATED BIO: Jay Moon Fields, M.A. is a leading educator, coach and author. Over a half million people have taken her courses featured on Linkedin Learning, and her book Teaching People Not Poses has sold over ten thousand copies and is used by yoga teacher training programs globally. For over twenty years, she has taught the principles of embodied social and emotional intelligence to individuals and groups from Patagonia, Weiden + Kennedy, Apple, the UN, UC Santa Barbara, and Cottage Hospital. Jay has been a guest on over 30 podcasts and was named one of the top 50 health and wellness bloggers making a difference in the world by Greatist.com. Jay has been a featured speaker at GoPro, Baker Tilly, The Fifteen Seconds Festival and the Omega Institute. She received her BA in Psychosocial Health and Human Movement from the College of William and Mary and her masters in Integral Transformative Education from Prescott College. WHAT IS YOURS TRULY? Yours Truly™ is a comprehensive online program that blends the principles and evidence-based practices of nervous system regulation, embodiment and psychoeducation to help you learn how to not just know better, but actually do better when it comes to relating to yourself and others in a healthy way. It consists of 50 short videos and a 45-page workbook that anyone can do from anywhere at their own pace. WHAT PROBLEMS DOES YOURS TRULY FIX? Smart, sensitive people almost always try to fix the stuff that feels crappy in their life by thinking (usually overthinking) about it, even though it doesn’t work. That’s because, despite intellectually knowing better, they’re being run by the unconscious stress responses of their nervous system and by deeply embodied but fatally flawed relational conditioning. This conditioning leads them to do things like take care of others at their own expense, or push people away when what they really want is closeness, or to never really feel at home in their own skin. Yours Truly is embodiment meets neuroscience meets an empathetic guide who’s been there and come through the other side—so that smart, sensitive people can finally get the training they need to have more control over how they show up and more closeness in the relationships that matter most to them. How to Manage Anger in Our Closest Relationships

In this insightful episode of "Men Talking Mindfulness," hosts Jon Macaskill and Will Schneider delve into the complex and often misunderstood emotion of anger. Our focus is not just on what anger is, but on its profound impact on our physiology, emotions, and behaviors, especially within our most important relationships. We begin by defining anger and its various expressions, from mild irritation to intense fury, and explore its opposites – pleasure and good humor. As we dissect the physiological responses triggered by anger, including the activation of the sympathetic nervous system and its 'fight or flight' effects, we also examine the emotional and behavioral repercussions that follow. The discussion then shifts to understanding the triggers of anger, its manifestations in different environments, and the impact of external factors like substances and stress. We explore how anger can damage our relationships at home, work, and in the community, and how it positions the recipient, often leading to defensive or hurt responses. Crucially, we address what feeds anger – from internal factors like resistance and lack of self-care to external influences like preconceived notions and expectations. We also offer strategies to prevent anger, highlighting the importance of self-awareness, mindfulness, and seeking professional help. As we navigate through these topics, we reveal how anger can be a thief of opportunity, leading to conflict, selfishness, and regret. However, we also discuss when and how anger can be healthy and constructive. To wrap up, we provide listeners with practical tools for managing anger, including breathing techniques, mindfulness practices, and tips for starting the journey to better anger management. Join us for this deep dive into understanding anger, mitigating its negative effects, and harnessing its energy for positive change in our lives and relationships.
