Dr. Lauren Cook on Mental Health, Gratitude and Beyond
Trying to give this episode a title was difficult, because we talked about SO MANY amazing things. Dr. Lauren's insight about feeling gratitude in our body was probably my personal biggest takeaway. I have been noticing throughout my day how I FEEL when I am experiencing gratitude. So cool! Our entire conversation was jam packed with wisdom and practical tools that you can implement today to nurture and protect your mental health. I think we could all use a bit more of that right now! Dr. Lauren Cook is a therapist, speaker, and author. She (usually) travels around the country sharing how we can cultivate a life in accordance with our values. Lauren integrates positive psychology, gratitude, and neuroscience into her work to inform her evidence-based teachings. Dr. Lauren Cook began her training at UCLA, where she majored in Psychology and Communication Studies. She then earned her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. Dr. Cook then completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. Lauren currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and Siamese cat, Mochi and she loves spending time in the California sunshine. Callie Ammons on All Things Enneagram
Ladies! Please DO NOT miss this conversation! I learned about the Enneagram a while ago, but it wasn't until recently that I started to take a deep dive into truly understanding how it works and how I can use it as a tool basically in every area of my life! The thing I love most about the Enneagram is that it’s not just another personality test. It stands out among the others because it is all about accessing and increasing awareness around our internal world, our core desires and motivations as well as our greatest fears. Callie is such a joy to talk to and is full of wisdom when it comes to the enneagram. The two words that kept coming up over and over again in our conversation were FREEDOM and EMPOWERMENT! The more we get to know ourselves, the more we can feel free and empowered to be who God created us to be. THIS ONE IS SOOOO GOOD! Don’t forget to subscribe, rate, review and share this episode with a friend! Ditch the TO DO list and Create an Essentials List instead!
Are you sick of going to bed at night feeling like there are MORE things on your TO DO list than when you woke up that morning? That was my story for way too long! And I can still fall into the trap of more is better...when I allow the "should dos" and the "would be nice to dos" crowd out the important things that actually move me closer to my goals and my vision for my life. My solution was to sit down and get all the things that were taking up real estate in my brain out onto paper (a braindump). From there I walked through a framework that eventually led me to my Essentials. I had created my first Essentials list and I was hooked! Now, this is is how I try to look at my day, my week and my month. What is truly essential, absolutely necessary. And what can I.... *Delete *Delegate or *Automate Listen in as I walk you through the process! Download the PDF to create your Essentials List now! Simi Botic on Letting Go of Perfection and Living Your Truth
This was one of those conversations where I just felt so relaxed and cozy the whole time that Simi and I were chatting. It didn't hurt that I had my pumpkin candle going! :) I have always loved Simi and the way that she shows up so authentically. She is a mom to two littles, and we discussed how she and her family have handled the past few months, how she supports women on their journey to knowing that they are enough, and SO MUCH MORE. Ultimately, we ended up coming back to the core theme of letting go of perfectionistic thinking and embracing our beautifully messy lives. Simi is a certified holistic health coach, Intuitive Eating counselor, and the author of Letting Go Of Leo: How I Broke Up With Perfection a memoir about overcoming her decades long struggle with feeling like she wasn't enough. She's also a barre instructor and the founder of UNMEASURED, a virtual monthly barre membership that celebrates your body through movement.
