Ep. 162: Grief and Gratitude (with Coach Julie)

Recovery can bring up some unexpected feelings, including grief.  Even though binge eating is ultimately a harmful behavior, you may still experience a sense of loss as you let it go, and you may also grieve the time you lost to the eating disorder. As you go through this, it can be helpful to cultivate thoughts and feelings of gratitude to soften the grief, and to keep you moving in the direction of freedom from the struggle with food. Life inevitably involves loss, and some lessons learned from recovery about both grief and gratitude can help you in many other areas as you move forward. Ep. 156: Stop and Go Signals

Physical hunger and fullness signals aren’t the only driver of eating. We also have what I’m calling “stop and go signals” which are primarily thoughts, but also feelings and sensations that encourage us to eat or stop eating that are independent of physical hunger and fullness cues. In this episode, you’ll learn to understand and react to these signals in a way that moves you toward recovery and a healthy relationship with food.
