[Ep#378] Distraction or a Valuable Opportunity: 7 questions to find out which to avoid becoming unfocused

Distraction or Opportunity? How do you gauge whether a project you’re considering is a valuable opportunity or a distraction? This is something I’ve often struggled with over the years.  For those of you who have worked with me on their Signature Brands (with the Branding with Archetypes system I use) my leading Archetype is Explorer. So, of course new projects, shiny objects, learning something new (which can take me off in another direction from what I was originally focusing on) can be an issue for me.   And, as I’m also a Quickstart on the Kolbe A scale, that's a double-whammy when it comes to my love of starting new projects. So, if I’m not careful – I can become my own worst enemy.  Then, when it comes to daily (and what I call ‘minor’) distractions, I can have the best of plans laid out, however an unexpected telephone call, a notification on one of my social platforms that someone has just commented on one of my posts, an email notification that flashes across my screen can change all that.  These types of distractions are easy to identify and manage – just shut off your devices, block out time in your calendar, and ensure you’re able to focus on the task at hand.  But, what about when an opportunity or a new project comes your way – how do you know whether it is something you should consider doing now, or whether it’s going to be a distraction, and taking you away from what you are currently focused on?   That’s a great question I asked myself several years ago. And, it’s what prompted me to come up with 7 key questions to see whether a project or opportunity I was considering, was a distraction or not.   Because a lack of focused and continuously getting distracted is a HUGE bottleneck to the growth of your business – trust me!   So, if this is something you’re struggling with, too – you're in luck. In today’s episode I’ll share the 7 questions so the next time you have an opportunity/project in front of you – you can ask yourself these 7 questions. RESOURCES:   Take the Quiz: Build Visibility, Generate Leads & Enrol Clients with Ease with your Robust Customer Relationship-Building Nurturing Funnel   Subscribe to my weekly newsletter – The Influence Bulletin  Book a time to chat with Annemarie to find out how Annemarie and her team of experts can set up your client relationship-building funnel for you   Enjoy This Podcast? If you enjoyed today's episode of the Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast, then hit subscribe now! Post a review and share it! 17. How to define your niched topic for your podcast

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #17 Are you a multi-passionate person, who loves to learn, you have many interests and you struggle to define who you are and how you can support people into one succinct statement?  Yeah – me too. I struggled with that for YEARS. In fact, if you’ve followed me for a minute – you'd have heard me share before how as multi-passionate individuals who LOVE learning, we need to be mindful NOT to let our diverse interests - water down our message. Because focusing on too many things – without a clear and compelling outcome (which speaks into the outcome our ideal client seeks) will mean our message gets lost in the noise. In today’s tip I want you to check back over the last 10 pieces of content you shared across your social media platforms, your blog, your podcast and ask yourself – are these aligned to a clear and concise message that positions me as distinguishable, uncopyable and irresistible in a clear area of expertise so I’m building my reputation as a trusted authority in a key area? Or not? If not, you need to make a decision as to how you’re going refine your ONE thing, which you want to become known for. What is it that the combination of your experience, knowledge and certifications will enable you to support YOUR ideal client to achieve their goals/outcomes? For me, it was helping clients stand out, be heard, and become an influential voice in their industry. The trusted authority. THE choice vs just a choice for their ideal client. And then taking their message onto their own podcast platform so they can leverage their podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with the message m they share. Which is why I’m so passionate about doing this #ListenerToLead series, so you don’t make the same mistakes I did and can get results much faster by speaking to your audience of one. I’ll see you in the next tip.  YOUR NEXT STEP:  Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online? [Ep#377] Success Principles to Start the Year STRONG

Like many other business owners, as we prepare for the year ahead, there are certain things you do in order to position yourself to start the New Year strong. I’m doing exactly that in Podcast HQ and our business as well, along with encouraging my clients to do the same. So, in today’s episode I thought I’d share my very simple yet powerful process in the hopes that if you don’t yet have your own practice to finish the previous year as well as start the year strong - you can borrow mine!  One reason it’s so powerful, is that it also allows you to review some of the things that didn’t go well throughout the year. Because if left unaddressed that failure (and disappointment) can manifest itself into what one of my mentors has labelled - Goal Trauma and even Financial Trauma.   Haven’t heard of Goal or Financial Trauma and how it can keep you stuck. I share more in today’s show. RESOURCES:   Take the Quiz: Build Visibility, Generate Leads & Enrol Clients with Ease with your Robust Customer Relationship-Building Nurturing Funnel   Subscribe to my weekly newsletter – The Influence Bulletin  Book a time to chat with Annemarie to find out how Annemarie and her team of experts can set up your client relationship-building funnel for you   A Personal Message from Annemarie…Have you enjoyed listening to this podcast interview and want to know how you can create your very own podcast platform to so you become known as an influential voice in your industry?Access my free How to Create a Profitable Podcasting Masterclass, where I'll show you: Six Common Podcasting Myths that’ll keep you stuck from creating your profitable podcast; Why focusing on technology (i.e. which microphone you should be using) is unwise and what you MUST focus on first if you want to start a profitable podcast. 16. The importance of speaking to an audience of ONE for your podcast

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #16.Do you want to build your reach while become known as a trusted authority in your field with your podcast? Don’t try to be all things to all people – especially with the message you share. The broader your message is, the longer it’ll take to build your reach OR be seen as a trusted authority. If ever. Because your message will get lost in the noise and as I mentioned in tip number 6 – my message got lost in the noise of my own podcast, which was one of the reasons I stopped production.  So what should you be doing instead with your podcast? Hone your message to a specific niched audience. And, speak to that niche. Speak to your audience of one. When you do and you speak into the challenges, he/she faces, along with the desired outcomes he/she longs, as well as invaluable insights on HOW they can begin to achieve that, and it won’t be long before that audience of one becomes two, becomes four, eight, and so on.  Because you become a go-to resource and can continue to nurture your community into leads and enquiries and eventually customers. But it starts with ONE, clear and highly-niched message that speaks to an audience of ONE.  Get clear on that first! I’ll see you in the next tip.  YOUR NEXT STEP:  Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online? Do you feel unnoticed, unheard, invisible?  Access my free Masterclass, on how to become Distinguishable, Uncopyable and Irresistible to your ideal client – even if you’re in a crowded marketplace. Go to: www.IndustryThoughtleaderAcademy.com/DistinguishableMessage Post a review and share it!  If you learned something by tuning into this podcast, do not hesitate to write a review and share it with your friends. 15. How to find the perfect guests for your podcast

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #15 Today’s tip is answering the question "How do I find guests for my podcast?” When I first started my co-hosted podcast back in 2008, and for many years after – I never really had a guest strategy.  I just interviewed people who I thought were interesting and could share valuable information for my audience. Which obviously is important, however unknowingly I was leaving opportunities and money on the table because I didn’t have a robust guest strategy in place. Which is why I now teach an entire module on how to establish a robust guest strategy in my 90-Day Idea to Launch your Podcast Immersive program. So, once you have that in place and you know exactly WHO the guests are that you are searching for – now you can go and find them. Here’s where I will often find my guests:  Networking events;  Social media platforms – especially Linkedin  Recommendations from trusted colleagues   And, if your podcast, who you are, and what you stand for aligns with the guest and how you approach them – they are more than likely going to agree to come on your podcast and it will end up being a win win win for all parties. You, your guest and your audience. So, before you focus on finding your guests, make sure you have a robust strategy in place to ensure the guests you do have on your show contribute to the overall goals you have set for your podcast. What are they? Well, some of my guests have become clients, referral partners, joint venture partners, have invited me to guest on their podcast and even online summits.  When you attract the right guests and have the right guest strategy in place that’s the kind of results you can achieve. 14. How to structure your podcast episode to capture attention from the get-go

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #14. Today’s tip is answering the question ‘'What’s the best way to structure my podcast?” You may be thinking – does it even matter. And the answer to that question first is – yes it does especially if you’re looking to attract the attention of your ideal client from the beginning of your episode, maintain their attention and build interest and intrigue throughout the episode, right through to the end of your podcast as you share your outro. If you want to create a unique and compelling listener experience, while engage your audience, educate and share insights they don’t even know they don’t know, while entice them to take the next step, which is to get off your podcast and onto your list (in the most integral of ways) - yes it does and the structure of the podcast is key. The content you share with a paying customers in comparison to a prospective customer who doesn’t know you well enough yet is going to be different. Your content and structure of your podcast will be different too for people who don’t even know they need you and your services yet. So, what’s the best way to structure your podcast? Be clear on how you want to leverage your podcast, for instance where on the customer journey will your listener be, and their communication preferences. Once you’re clear on that – you'll know exactly how best to structure your podcast. BTW, these are the things I teach right inside my 90-Day Idea to Laumch your podcast Immersive program. If you want to know more go to www.PodcastingWithPurpose.com/Immersive to find out more.  I’ll see you in the next tip.  YOUR NEXT STEP:  Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online? 13. How to encourage your guests to promote their interview

Hi this is Annemarie and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #13. Today’s tip is answering the question ‘How can I get my guests to promote their interview?” If you want to make sure your guests to promote their interview once it goes live here are a few things you need to consider:  Make sure you are inviting the right kind of guests on your podcast – not all guests are created equal. There will be some guests that naturally promote more – because by being featured on your podcast they naturally gain exposure and build their brand awareness, which is a goal they desire. However, there are going to be some guests that just don’t need the added exposure and less likely to share the interview with their community because they don’t need the additional exposure. So, select your guests carefully – because they’re most likely going to be thinking ‘what’s in it for me.” And their goal will be to get in front of your audience, rather than get in front of their own audience, who they are most likely in front of already. Some guests just won’t   Make sure the topic they are sharing is one that they will want to share with their community because it amplifies their message and where they want to position their thought leadership.  If you interview them about a topic that suits you and their audience, yet it’s not adding value to their thought leadership – it'll most likely not be something they’re going to share with their community   And, thirdly, make sharing it with their community as seamless as possible. What creatives are you giving them. Are you providing them with graphics and audiograms, Perhaps even send them some examples of text they can use in their social media posts. Make it as easy for them as possible to share. The less work they have to do, the more likely they will be to share it.   Oh and one last tip – have you told them their show has gone live. And, do you tag them in your social media posts so they can on-share to their community.  These are just some things to consider when it comes to helping your guest help you by promoting their interview with their audience.  I’ll see you in the next tip. Post a review and share it! If you learned something by tuning into this podcast, do not hesitate to write a review and share it with your friends.
