12. How to ensure your podcast stands out

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #12. Have you ever asked the question ‘How can I make sure my podcast stands out?’  You’re not the only one. We’ve all asked ourselves that question.  My answer, there are lots of ways you can make sure your podcast stands out. But boiled down – the shortened answer is: if you want to make sure your podcast stands out - make sure it’s outstanding, in every way. From you being clear on what makes YOU unique and uncopyable in terms of your personal brand, your message, your story, to the unique and uncopyable listener experience you create, to the topics you share on your show, right through to the guests you interview. If your podcast, the topics you speak about and the way in which you bring this information to life – the listener experience) is the same ol same ol that everyone else is doing – your podcast will not stand out. It’ll get lost in the millions of other podcasts. If you’re interviewing the same guests as everyone else – and asking the same questions as everyone else – you podcast will not stand out.  And, as a Change Maker – a coach with a message that will literally transform and bring REAL change to your ideal client life and/or business – I know that's NOT what you want. You were not born to fit in, to be like everyone else, you, your story, your expertise and how you can help your ideal client is MEANT to stand out. So, make sure you continue listening to the rest of these tips in this #ListenerIntoLead with your podcast series. I’ll see you in the next tip.  Post a review and share it! If you learned something by tuning into this podcast, do not hesitate to write a review and share it with your friends. [Ep#372] The Fail-Proof Formula for Success for Coaches

If you’ve listened to one of my podcasts, I’m sure you’ve heard me speak about the importance of being consistent. In fact, my formula for success, says it all.  THE FORMULA FOR SUCCESS:  Clarity + Consistency, Over Time, WILL enable you to build the Momentum you need to grow a successful business. But herein lies an issue when it comes to the formula.  With regards to Clarity – I'm talking about being clear on your message – and more specifically a message that works. Because sharing a message that’s not already working with more consistency still won’t work in generating the momentum you need. Or, another thing that can happen is to consistently share a message that’s NOT aligned with your goals, which can lead you in the wrong direction. So, you become known for something you don’t really enjoy or even want to be known for. So, in today’s episode I’m sharing:  Two main issues that can occur when you don’t get clarity on your message  What can happen when you don’t have clarity on a clear outcome – and stick to that outcome   5 things you’ll want to get clear on with regards to your message so it keeps you focused on the right message. (Hint: These have been absolutely crucial in helping me maintain consistency in my message).  RESOURCES:   Podcast: 3 Key Stages of your Customer Journey  Subscribe to my weekly newsletter – The Influence Bulletin  How to Become Distinguishable, Uncopyable and Irresistible Masterclass   Book a time to chat with Annemarie to find out how Annemarie and her team of experts can set up your client relationship-building funnel for you   Enjoy This Podcast? If you enjoyed today's episode of the Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast, then hit subscribe now! Post a review and share it! 11. Starting a podcast: How to come up with the perfect name for your podcast

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #11. What’s in a name?  Everything – because your podcast could just become a saleable asset.  In tip #6, I mentioned how my own message got lost in the noise of my own podcast and I got so bored with the guests I was interviewing that I decided to stop production. I’d had enough. Now, this was my award-winning podcast, the Ambitious Entrepreneur Show, which not only had won an award but had also been frequently listed in top business and entrepreneurship podcasts.  I was bored and just didn’t want to continue production – so I announced on Facebook that I was stopping production. Now, a surprising thing happened. Something I did NOT expect, but something that made me realize just how much of a reputation my podcast had built. I had several messages from people who wondered if I would be interested in selling my podcast. Would I be interested in selling my podcast – who would have thought that a podcast I had built over the years was something others saw value in and would even express interest in the possibility of purchasing it? I was gobsmacked.  Long story short – I didn’t sell it and in actual fact, Ambitious Entrepreneur Show is well and truly back in production, has been for some time now, and is again being listed in the top podcasts for entrepreneurship. However, imagine if I had named my podcast after my personal brand – the Annemarie Cross Show. It would be very difficult for anyone to take over that podcast – unless of course, they rebranded it their own. However, typically if you name your podcast your personal brand your audience is typically people who follow you because of your brand, your charisma, your celebrity if you will – I'll speak more about the Podcast Positioning Quadrant in tip #21, where a podcast with your personal brand name, is going to have a different overall strategy and end in mind that if you called your podcast a name that was able to be taken over by a person or persons who had a similar passion and expertise that could be offered to your audience. So, how to choose the right name for your podcast? If you want to build a community of your ideal clients AND potentially build up your podcast to be a valuable asset that down the track someone would be willing to pay you for? It means everything. Choose wisely. I’ll see you in the next tip.  Post a review and share it! If you learned something by tuning into this podcast, do not hesitate to write a review and share it with your friends. 10. Starting a podcast: How often should you publish your podcast?

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #10. How frequently should you publish your podcast? If you’ve heard my response to tip #9 with that question: How long should your podcast be, I’m going to use the exact same response I gave to tip #9, to this question of how frequently should you publish your podcast, which is: It depends. Again, there are no rules to podcasting other than the rules you set yourself. And that’s the same when it comes to frequency and how often you should publish your podcast. The better question would be: What is the overall goal of your podcast and how do you plan on leveraging your podcast to help you achieve that goal? Also, what time commitment do you have? And, how are you best going to repurpose and leverage your podcast? One of my alliance partners publishes their podcasts when they have an episode to share. That's because they interview premium members and if they have no new premium members – then there are no interviews. Their podcast was recently listed as #1 for Australian Women in business. And, their podcast continues to be one of the best ways they generate leads and inquiries from potential members for their network. Another client of mine had NO interest in doing an ongoing podcast, so we created an evergreen podcast series that he leverages as part of his content creation strategy and seed and lead strategy. If he ever decides down the track to do another series, he can. If he were to free up some time and have the desire to start an ongoing more regular podcast publication – he can. It will depend on him and what’s going on in his business.  Another client of mine releases an interview with a guest once a month and has a shorter solo show every other week, so following more of a publication schedule of a podcast every 2 weeks. That best fits her schedule and overall podcast strategy.  So, again how frequently should you publish your podcast? It depends. On you and your overall goals that you want to achieve and how your podcast will help you get there. I’ll see you in the next tip.  Post a review and share it! If you learned something by tuning into this podcast, do not hesitate to write a review and share it with your friends. 9. Starting a podcast: How long should your podcast be?

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #9. Another question I’m often asked is: How long should my podcast be? And, if that’s something you’re wondering too, my answer to you would be: It depends.  You may have heard me say before: there are NO rules to podcasting other than the rules you set yourself. And, those rules are going to depend on various things. When it comes to the length of the podcast – it depends on a number of facts: - How long do you need for you to get your message across? If you need 5 minutes – don't stretch it out to 20 minutes because someone’s told you, a good podcast length is 20 minutes. That’s ridiculous.  Tell your ideal client what they need to know, tell them what the next step is and how they can find out more, and finish it up. If it takes 5 minutes – then 5 minutes it is. If you need 10 minutes or 20 minutes to share it, it’s concise, it’s compelling, connects with your ideal client and the content in your podcast continues to build know, like, and trust and continues to nurture them along the customer journey – then take 10 minutes, take 20 minutes.  Another thing to consider – who is your ideal client? How long do they have to listen to your content? Are they driven and like people to get to the point? Well, get to the point on your podcast. One of my clients works with C-suite executives who are driven, they want access to thought leadership content when it comes to leading top-performing teams, so she keeps her solo shows, concise and to the point. Her interviews are slightly longer however the conversation is always on point, with actionable insights.  Are they time-poor? Another one of my clients works with busy mums – therefore her podcasts were between 10-15 minutes. Enough time for her to listen as she was driving and picking up her kids from school.  So, how long should your podcast be? How long do you want it to be in order to say what you want to say and share what you want to share in a way that’s going to continue to build know, like and trust and nurture your listener into a lead with your podcast?  That’s how long it should be. I’ll see you in the next tip. Post a review and share it! If you learned something by tuning into this podcast, do not hesitate to write a review and share it with your friends. [Ep#369] 5 Pillars to an Optimal Client Relationship-Building Funnel for Coaches

Over the last few months inside my membership program for Coaches - The Influence Alliance, we’ve been spending time on mapping out our strategies for the customer journey – the sequence of strategic steps you take a prospective customer through as they get to ‘know, like and trust you’ and go from lead to paying customer. Do you have a strategy in place in your coaching business that’ll enable you to build a relationship with a prospective client, nurturing and taking them from just getting to know you, through to a warm lead, through to a customer who can’t wait to begin working with you? So, you become THE choice vs just A choice when they’re ready to move forward? If you answered ‘no’, or you have a few things in place, but they’re not streamlined, nor are the systems and nurturing funnel you have in place getting the best result for you – you're not alone. And, I’m not talking about having such a complex funnel that costs you tens of thousands of dollars, and is so confusing – it’s impossible to track and manage. Simple and streamlined is key. So, in today’s episode I’m going to expand on the three stages of the customer journey we covered recently by sharing the 5 pillars you want to have in place across the customer journey so you can begin to build ‘know, like and trust’ while generating leads and nurture those leads into paying customers, including:  The 5 pillars to an optimal Client Relationship Building Funnel  What each pillar is and why they are so important   Key questions to ask yourself to ensure you have each pillar in place and what to do next if you don’t   RESOURCES:   Subscribe to my weekly newsletter – The Influence Bulletin  How to Become Distinguishable, Uncopyable and Irresistible Masterclass   Book a time to chat with Annemarie to find out how Annemarie and her team of experts can set up your client relationship building funnel for you  Enjoy This Podcast? If you enjoyed today's episode of the Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast, then hit subscribe now! Post a review and share it! 8. Starting a podcast: Which is the best microphone

Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #8. In tip #7 I shared that one of the most common questions I’m asked by coaches who are thinking of starting their podcast is – where do I start? The second question I’m often asked is this: What’s the best microphone for my podcast? The answer is simple: The best microphone is the microphone you have available to you right now. However, before we even begin to consider technology – one of the questions I asked them is why do you want to start your podcast? And, if the answer is “because I’m just not generating the clients I want and I feel like the world's best kept secret and I’ve heard a podcast will help me get my message out to more people.” that response is a red flag.  Why? Because if their message isn’t working already, if how they speak about themselves and the services they offer, is not generating interest and inquiries – I would rather focus on getting their message right first and THEN launch a robust podcast strategy to help them expand their reach and visibility with a message that works. Because a podcast will help you amplify your message BUT if your message isn’t working, your podcast will only amplify your message which is not working for more people, so you’ll end up possibly confusing even more people. So rather than focusing on the make and model of a microphone – focus FIRST on your message. That’s because you cannot edit and mix compelling content that converts, you cannot edit and mix content that nurtures listeners into leads from content that doesn’t make sense, that’s not compelling, that speaks directly to the heart of your ideal client and what he/she is struggling with – even if it was recorded on the BEST microphone available.  So, worrying about what microphone to get if your message isn’t already working is the wrong thing to focus on.  The best microphone will depend on a number of factors, so keep that in mind as you continue your research. But most importantly of all, your MESSAGE and working that out BEFORE you worry about the model and make of microphone is crucial. I’ll see you in the next tip. Post a review and share it! If you learned something by tuning into this podcast, do not hesitate to write a review and share it with your friends.
