Episode 98: Getting Started in Powerlifting Coaching ft. Jessie Burdick
This episode, Kevin is joined by PPS lifter and powerlifting and fitness coach Jessie Burdick. Kevin and Jessie talk about Jessie moving into coaching powerlifting and the journey she’s taken over the last year.
Jessie holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Becker College in Worcester, Mass. She has held internships at various universities, and has been working in the fitness industry as a trainer and coach for 8 years. She also holds several certifications ranging from nutrition to most recently becoming a USAPL Club Coach in December 2019. Jessie coaches powerlifting, strength and conditioning out of RX Strength Training in Somerville, Mass. and The Fieldhouse in Sudbury, Mass. She participates in the special Olympics community with a powerlifting focus, and recently received a credit as an adaptive fitness coach.

Episode 96: So You Want to Lift Equipped? ft. Ryan Gleason
In this episode of Boston’s Strongcast, Kevin welcomes Ryan Gleason back to the show to chat about equipped lifting and the benefits of training with a crew while doing so. The owner of Gleason Performance training in Derby, CT, Ryan has been a trainer since 2003, and has focused on powerlifting since 2010. He holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Sacred Heart University. He has earned his Senior National Coach certification from USA Powerlifting, one of only 43 in the country. He has coached almost 20 lifters to USAPL Raw Nationals, and has coached Team GPT teammate Ewa to a gold medal deadlift at IPF Classic Worlds and a win at the Arnold Raw Challenge.

Episode 95: Coaching as an Experience ft. James Townsend
In this week’s episode, Kevin chats with James Townsend. James began his career in the strength and conditioning industry over 15 years ago. His personal athletic career started in powerlifting where he performed at the collegiate and international level. James graduated from Louisiana Tech and began his career as a strength and conditioning football coach at the University of Virginia. From there, James was an assistant strength-and-conditioning football coach at Mississippi State University and the head strength and conditioning football coach at Marshall University.
He currently coaches the men and women’s open USA Powerlifting team, and has secured two gold medals for the women’s team. He also led many athletes to win individual medals. James was also nationally recognized and awarded the Billy Jack Talton Coach of the Year award in 2017 by the USAPL.
