3153 No Matter What

Life never slows down. It always keeps going faster and faster. So what do you do when your health is out of bounds? No matter what, keep going for your goals. Now it may seem a little strange that I mention no matter what. Because we all have excuses. We live up to our shortcomings more than we do our longcomings. And so we do just that; we take the shorter road with the least distance needed to travel. And where does that take us? Nowhere! As I have been down the healthy, living journey for decades, now, I know what it means to stick to what you need to do, and not waver. Yet, I've also been on the other side, we're all you do is waver and make excuses for whatever reason. I could sit here and give you the exact diet plan that you need to follow. But in all honesty, there's too much of that on the Internet already. You can go google any diet you want from the cabbage diet to the cucumber diet to the keto diet to the vegan diet to the Paleo diet. And you will find exactly what you need. You could get an app and find your answers there. But one thing you could not find is the real-life struggles and troubles. What it really means to dedicate yourself to living an uncompromised life so you can be your best selfie. And I'm not talking about not thinking of others and taking care of your family. Of course, you have responsibilities and other demands that you need to fulfill within your life. However, that doesn't mean that you sell yourself short. Compromising your health is the worst thing you can do. Now I would say, that compromise in your relationship with God is the absolute worst. But here, when you look at it from an earthly perspective, as to our actions, and what we control, it's most definitely our health. And I don't know about you, but I have lived many days where I have made more excuses and compromised what I knew I needed to benefit someone else. And for what reason? It doesn't do them any good, the ones I love, for me to compromise my health. I mean, who is going to take care of the family if I'm in the hospital for two weeks due to exhaustion, malnutrition, dehydration, and mental instability? Absolutely, positively no one!! Further, I still can see, though that it's much easier to live in those circumstances. And you wonder why? It truly is because it's easier. We can go through life compromising for ourselves instead of not stopping for what we know is right for ourselves. So today that all changes for you and it has for me. Your health needs to be the most important thing you focus on right now. If you have other issues in your life, which we all do, you can still work on those. But if you compromise on your health, I am telling you right now, you will compromise on everything else in your life. How fair is that to you? How fair is that to the ones you love? It's not fair! Therefore, you need to take today like the bull by the horns, and make today the starting point of an unwavering, uncompromising, dedicated, and determined individual that you will reach your goal and maintain it for the rest of your life. The K.I.S.S. ~ Take the bull by the horns! Now that's a pretty big pill to swallow. But it's one I know you can take on the challenge. And so I want to leave you with some things that you can do as you take the bull by the horns. 1. Don't compromise your nutrition. What I mean by this, is that a lot of us will sit here and come up with excuses to fit in. We will find a way to go out to dinner and be like everybody else. My friend, you are not like everybody else. You were made for more. And so if you go out to dinner, and there is not something on the menu that you can eat, within the constraints and confines of your nutritional diet, then you need to not eat. Now I know a lot of people would be saying this is wrong! I hear that hate emails being sent already. But save the typing. Cheating on yourself because you want to eat and be like everybody else right now; it's not the time, nor the place. Until you are ready, and where you want to be in your health journey, you need to stay the course! You do not want to allow yourself to have a cheat day, or a cheat meal. You may make a decision to eat a specific food, but let me challenge you with this question. How long will it take you to rebound from the cheat meal or the cheat day that you have? Everybody is very different when it comes to how our food responds. And when we eat, we eat with our mind as in the way it looks, the way it smells, the way it tastes, the atmosphere, the environment that we gain from this moment when we are eating food. But the body doesn't see it that way. The body sees it as simply a chemical reaction made solely to fuel your body, giving your organs and your mind exactly what it needs nutritionally. Let me give you a real-life example. My son was spending some time with us and his dog. Well in that, he knew I was being very specific about what I was eating. And so he went to grab himself something to eat, but wanted to give me something. So he got me egg drop soup. Which, by the way, I absolutely love. But in eating that soup, you need to understand that I ate it from a point of guilt. He spent his hard-earned money to give me something so I didn't have to necessarily cook and he wanted to take care of his mom, which was very kind and very sweet. And so in that it was all good on both sides right but I gave in to what I knew was not right for me. So yes, I ate the egg drop soup. It was only one cup worth. Now you could imagine the amount of sodium that was in that egg drop soup. But can you believe that it took me three days to recuperate from that one cup of egg drop soup that I ate. I gained a pound and a half on the scale. Now some would say that was not really weight. Others would argue it is. I will tell you this. This is my body and how it responded was inflammation! That was not good in itself. So as I watched how I felt within my body and how my body was responding, I realized how just one cup of egg drop soup changed everything. No matter what my friend, don't compromise on your nutrition. 2. Don't apologize for what you are doing for yourself. Most of our excuses encompass pleasing others so we don't hurt their feelings. But what about your feelings are your body? What about your goals? What about your life? 3. Don't say yes when you really need to say no. I took my grandson and grand dog home to my daughter and son-in-love as they had a busy schedule, and so he came to spend the weekend with me. Of course, Grandma loved it! But I'm coming back, Papa and I decided that we would take them all the way back home instead of meeting halfway. We thought that would be easier. So that is what we did. And in the midst of a conversation when we told them what we were doing, my daughter sweetly said, will you stay for dinner. I would love to cook you dinner. And the thing was, I told my husband in advance, that I did not want to stay for dinner. I did not want to eat extra sauces. I needed to know exactly what was put in the food, and they needed an evening by themselves. And I just wanted to be respectful of what I needed, and I knew what they needed too. And so when my husband called my daughter, she did exactly what I expected her to do. She wanted us to stay for dinner, and so he completely told her exactly what I wanted her to know. And then another call came in from my son-in-love and he wanted us to stay for dinner. Papa proceeded to tell him no and let me tell you, it was so refreshing to know that number one my children wanted to spend time with me. Right?! Of course you want to spend time with your kiddos. Which we did. But we did not have to surround ourselves with the food. I need to eat specifically for me. And I knew that my daughter would fix something that would be delicious, and I would not want to say no to what her hard work put into it, especially her love. But I didn't waver. I knew what I was doing, and because of my egg drop soup happening, I knew I had to stay the course. And a lot of times we don't want to do that. But no matter what you gotta stay the course. 3152 Be Grateful for Your Doubters

In life, there will be those who lift you up and those who try to drown your dreams. But how you respond to all of them around you, will determine how you will soar. Be grateful for your doubters. And I know this sounds strange. But I've had many in my life who questioned me. Colleagues, family, great friends, neighbors, even people who didn't know me. However, I learned very early on from my parents and grandparents-- that's not the way you show up for your dreams. No one has the right to put out the spark within you. She said, "I want to say honestly, thank you to the people who didn't believe in me. A month ago, I won a 500 title, and people said I would stop at that. Two weeks ago, I won a 1000 title, and people were saying that was the biggest it was gonna get. So like, three weeks later, I'm here with this trophy right now [US Open Women's Champion 2023]. You know I've tried my best to carry this with grace and I've been doing my best; so honestly to those who thought they were putting water on my fire, you were really adding gas to it. Fall is a season of transition, where nature gracefully transforms itself with shorter days and changing landscapes. It's a time that invites us to embrace change and find beauty in the process of growth. As we bid farewell to summer, let's step out of our comfort zones, be bold, and embrace the new opportunities that this season brings. Are you one who is very flexible and can turn on a dime? Are you one who feels constrained when you're not in control? Are you one who wants to dictate what's supposed to happen? 3150 Because He Cares For You

In the midst of life's struggles and uncertainties, the words of 1 Peter 5:7 provide comfort and a gentle reminder of God's love for us: "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." When stress weighs heavy on your heart and burdens seem overwhelming, it is easy to feel alone and forgotten. But let this verse be a beacon of hope, assuring you that God is always there, ready to shoulder your worries and anxieties. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? However, the truth is that we were never designed to carry our troubles without assistance. God's invitation to us is clear – cast all our anxieties upon Him and trust that He genuinely cares for us. When we cast your worries on God, you surrender control and lean on His strength. You acknowledge that you cannot solve everything on your own and that you need His wisdom, guidance, and comfort. Therefore, do not hesitate to bring your concerns, big or small, to the Lord. His arms are open wide, ready to receive you and offer comfort to your troubled heart. In His presence, you find peace that surpasses all understanding, and your burdens are lightened. Today, I encourage you to meditate on this verse and allow it to penetrate the depths of your heart and soul. Take a moment to reflect on the areas of your life where anxiety and worries have taken root. Visualize yourself releasing those burdens and deliberately placing them in God's loving hands. Remember that you are not alone in this journey. The Lord is with you every step of the way, ready to carry your burdens and shower you with His boundless love. Despite our best intentions, our efforts in our marriage may not yield the desired results. So why not ask yourself: What in your marriage needs a little finesse? 3148 Turn the Other Cheek

Sometimes, as parents, we can find ourselves getting frustrated when our children don't respond the way we expect them to. Then, that leaves us offended because of our own expectations. Turn the other cheek. Yes, we've taught them right and wrong. But in the moment, our feelings may be hurt. We may feel disappointment or even anger. Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co However, it's important to remember that our children are still learning and growing, and it's not fair to place blame or misplaced anger on them. Instead, let's explore three things parents can do to "turn the other cheek". Because there's no excuse to blast our kiddos just because. So turn the other cheek. Pause. The K.I.S.S. ~ Pause! There is wisdom in the pause. This pause comes with compassion and understanding. It's not about being right. You ain't got time for the ego! So pause. 1. Reflect on Your Own Expectations: It's crucial to take a step back and honestly examine our own expectations as parents. Are we expecting too much from our children? Are we setting unrealistic standards? By recognizing and adjusting our own mindset, we can avoid projecting our own frustrations onto our kids. Remember, they are still in the process of learning, and it's essential to give them room to make mistakes and grow. 2. Practice Empathy: Empathy is a powerful tool that can help us understand our children's perspective. Instead of getting upset when they don't meet our expectations, let's try to put ourselves in their shoes and see things from their point of view. Maybe they were tired, overwhelmed, or simply acting their age. By showing empathy, we create an environment of understanding and mutual respect, fostering stronger parent-child relationships. 3. Communicate: Communication is key in any relationship, including with our children. Instead of harboring resentment or blame towards them, it's crucial to have open and honest conversations. Discuss your expectations calmly and listen to their thoughts and feelings. By creating a safe space for dialogue, we foster a sense of trust and understanding, allowing our children to grow and learn from their experiences. As parents, it's natural to have expectations for our children's behavior. However, it's important to recognize that they are still learning and evolving individuals. To "turn the other cheek," we must reflect on our own expectations, practice empathy, and promote open communication. By approaching parenting with understanding and compassion, we can build stronger relationships with our children and create an environment conducive to their growth and development. "Be present. We all know that feeling after a long weekend – our bodies feel tired, and our minds yearn for a break. But here's the thing: life doesn't wait for you to catch your breath. Push forward. It's about seeing the bigger vision of your mission. Push forward. Now I get it. We all get tired and worn out. But when the going gets tough, remind yourself of your purpose. Remember, your goals are not just distant dreams; they are stepping stones leading your toward what you are chasing. Embrace the chase, tap into the purpose, and use your momentum to fuel your actions. Sometimes, the enormity of our goals can be so overwhelming, leaving us feeling drained and unmotivated. We just sit there somewhat starry-eyed. Instead of fixating on the end result, break down the chase into manageable, bite-sized tasks. Have you ever found yourself entangled in numbers; numbers that define your size, weight, and the shirt on your back? It can be frustrating and overwhelming, to constantly chase after a specific number to reach your health goals. Is the number your real goal? Because what if you shift your focus away from the numbers and instead focus on your talents, gifts, relationships, and how you feel? Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? The K.I.S.S. ~ Overcome the obsession of numbers! 1. Embrace Non-Quantitative Indicators of Health Our obsession with numbers often leads us to believe that health is solely determined by the digits on a scale or the size of our clothes. However, health is more complex than a number. Take, for instance, the number on a hanger. Society often dictates that a specific size is desirable, but our bodies are unique and dynamic. Instead of fixating on fitting into a certain size, we can shift our focus to how our clothes make us feel and the confidence they bring. Another example is the number on the scale. While it can be used as a tool to measure progress, it's important to remember that weight fluctuates based on various factors such as muscle mass, water retention, hormonal changes, and inflammation. Rather than obsessing over a specific number, pay careful attention to how your body feels, your energy levels, and your overall well-being. 2. Set Non-Numerical Goals Setting goals based solely on numbers can be limiting and demotivating. Instead, shift our focus to non-numerical goals that reflect your overall health and well-being. For example, rather than aiming for a specific weight or body fat percentage, focus on goals like improving strength, flexibility, or overall fitness levels. Think about your energy level, too. By shifting your focus to what your body can do rather than a number on a scale, you get to enjoy the process and celebrate your achievements along the way. 3. Cultivate a Positive Mindset Numbers from the past can often haunt us, making us feel like we haven't achieved enough. However, it's important to remember that progress is not always linear. Plus, a positive mindset leads to better health outcomes. Research shows that individuals who adopt a positive outlook are more likely to engage in healthier behaviors, experience lower levels of stress, and have stronger immune systems. By focusing on the present moment and embracing a positive mindset, we can break free from the constraints of numbers and truly experience the joy of living a healthy life. As you journey towards reaching your health goals, it's essential to remember that numbers are just a small part of the bigger picture. Your health and happiness are not solely determined by digits, but rather by the way you feel, the relationships you cultivate, and the goals you set for yourself.
