The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 459 – Full Throttle Thursday – Mass Formation: How Groups Can Be Led to Think in One Direction
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_459-Full_Throttle_Thursday-Mass_Formation.mp3
How is it that so many smart, educated people—who are supposedly individuals of science—become completely one-sided? How is it that their minds can’t look at any other information? And when you show them the truth, they deny it? It’s freaky weird. This is not just a problem in the United States. We’re seeing this same mindset all around the world. And it’s very disturbing.
In his recent podcast, Dr. Mattias Desmet discusses “mass formation”—a phenomenon in which an extraordinarily large group of people are hypnotized into thinking in one direction. (This is such a sensitive topic, I can’t even use the word that comes after it.) When people’s sense of safety is jeopardized and destabilized like it was with COVID, they become extremely suggestible to any information—especially when that information is going in one direction only.
In today’s episode BT and I discuss:
How big tech platforms are censoring people to keep one message and one narrative moving forward—while locking people into ‘mass formation,’ where they only believe the one thing that’s being told to them
How some doctors are turning people away from treatment because they’re not vaccinated—and how Nazi Germany made a certain group of people ‘bad,’ ‘dirty,’ and ‘wrong’ during World War II—to the point where they could justify extermination
What Jordan Peterson said about Germans becoming Nazis—it didn’t happen overnight; it happened over a period of time
Freedom of speech in the United States, and how it’s the only reason why we haven’t gotten as far as the extreme measures taking place in Canada and Australia
Why the need to be right (or the need to not be wrong) keeps people stuck in their beliefs—where they deny new information, even if it’s true
Why it’s dangerous to demonize anybody who thinks differently
The power of thinking for yourself
Eric Hoffer wrote a fantastic book called The True Believer, in which he explains the concept of ‘mass formation,’ how mass belief systems start, and how they’re created. I highly recommend you read it—and also check out Dr. Mattias Desmet’s podcast.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 458 – In Search of the Truth: DeMark Thompson
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_458-ISotT_DeMarkThompson.mp3
Today I have a special guest named DeMark Thompson, who is an actor born and raised in Washington, DC. His acting career began in 2011 with a role in the film, “After Earth,” starring Will and Jayden Smith. DeMark went on to do additional TV roles on CBS, NBC, and HBO.
Shortly before his mother passed away, DeMark promised her that he’d continue acting. Since then, he’s dedicated his career to his mother, and to keeping the promise he made.
In today’s episode we discuss:
How life is short, and you should pursue your passions
DeMark’s work in cybersecurity with the Department of Energy
What it was like seeing Will Smith for the first time on set
The fierce competition in the acting industry—and why you need to be totally dedicated to the process of auditioning if you want to be a successful actor, because rejection happens often
How DeMark shifted from “competing” against other individuals to forming relationships that could lead to other opportunities
What makes an actor marketable—and why you need to get your work out there, so that others can know you and your work ethic
Why we need to train ourselves to “always stay ready”
DeMark also shares how trained himself not to doubt or worry, because “words have power.” He uses affirmations while waiting to hear back on acting jobs. “Today could be my day. Everything could change today. Anything can happen today,” he tells himself.
DeMark encourages people who are willing to take a leap of faith to pursue their dreams. No matter what we do, people are watching us, and we’re either being an example of what someone could be—or we’re being an example of what NOT to do.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 457 – Mindset Monday’s – Where Did I Stop?
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_457-TEM90A_MDM_09-22-20-Where_Did_I_Stop_.mp3
Many people are stuck in a certain kind of thinking that keeps them experiencing the same problems over and over again. Their thinking causes them to go in circles.
If you want to break free—especially when it comes to money—you have to start holding yourself to a higher standard. You must force yourself to make decisions differently. Or else it never changes.
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
Your mind is programmed to think if you want something (like money), you have to give up something else
When you’re running a business, you can’t deny one area that needs your attention in order to get something in another area—it’s the wrong sacrifice (you can do BOTH)
Why you need to break the paradigm of “either/or” (of not being able to do two things at once)
How emotions keep us habitually locked in to the idea of “either/or” thinking
Changing how you think is a lifelong pursuit that takes time
Desire is important in the beginning, because you need to break through your paradigm
Many people want the result, but few actually want to change. If you want to change several things in your life, take one thing at a time and prove to yourself, to the Nth degree, that you can change it…by doing it.
Don’t stop until you get the result. If you keep going—and don’t stop—you’ll see doors opening all over the place.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 456 – Full Throttle Thursday – Think For Yourself: Censorship, Freedom of Speech, & the Direction Our Country is Headed
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_456-Full_Throttle_Thursday-Think_For_Yourself.mp3
In today’s episode, BT and I have a serious conversation about what’s been taking place in our country (the United States). It’s obvious to me there’s been something very ‘off’ about what’s happening. Historically, we’ve had censorship in the past, but never to the extent that we’re currently experiencing it.
Highly regarded doctors and scientists with tremendous credibility are being kicked off YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. They’re being discredited for sharing views that don’t fit the COVID narrative. Today we’re bringing some of these issues to light.
In this episode, we discuss:
How top vaccine companies have rampant criminal behavior—with lawsuits and billions of dollars paid out for vaccine injuries—and they’re not liable for any of the harm they’ve caused
The war being waged between vaccinated and unvaccinated people, with unprecedented division in the United States right now
The Supreme Court argument on whether to stop vaccine mandates (meanwhile, the information some of the justices have is completely wrong)
The intense pushback other countries are seeing in response to totalitarian governments—meanwhile, the United States isn’t seeing this, because we’ve had it good for so long here; we don’t know what it’s like to have to fight for our freedom
The whole basis of our Constitution and our country has been that we can have civil debates and discuss different issues
Our Constitution has freedom of speech and other countries don’t (because it’s not in their Constitution)—this is why Australia is putting people in camps and having lockdowns
How the traditional media is making up stories and blowing things out of proportion—and the opposite side isn’t being broadcast in a way where everybody can easily access the information to be able to make their own decisions
Something very scary is taking place in all the free, democratic countries of the world. If you love this country, you need to be aware of what’s really going on. We need to think for ourselves, and not just accept any narrative across the board. It’s a very dangerous thing to have dissenting voices silenced. I encourage you to do your own research and make up your own mind about it.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 455 – Be Hungry
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_455-Be_Hungry.mp3
Many years ago, I found a book filled with gems on ambition and desire. It was called The Secret of the Ages by Robert Collier. It’s a phenomenal piece of work that most people have never read.
In today’s episode I’m teaching on some of the ideas in that book.
You’ll learn:
Ambition and desire are the two keys to success
Before you can accomplish anything, you must be possessed by ambition
Ambition means “a deep seated desire to materialize certain ideals which exist in the mind as mental pictures”
One of the biggest problems I see with people is that they don’t have enough desire to overcome the challenges to get where they want to go
Most people were taught that it’s not okay to want something better
Being exposed to something better can open up a desire in your mind to want more
To get where we want to go in life, we must learn to use our internal compass to want something more than anything else. This is the essence of desire. Instead of just having an intellectual focus on our desire, we need to really feel it, be consumed by it…and be hungry for it.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 454 – Mindset Monday’s – Be Persistent To Achieve Your Goals
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_454-MindsetMondays_Be_Persistent_To_Achieve_Your_Goals.mp3
If you want to accomplish anything in life, you need to be persistent in your goals. Persistence needs to be a constant in your life—it needs to be a belief and also ingrained in your character. When a goal requires some difficulty or effort, you need persistence to reach it.
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
Amateurs’ minds are impregnated with mediocrity, and they’re playing life like a lottery game—they want to abandon their goals at the first sign of things getting difficult
How Napoleon Hill interviewed 500 of the world’s most successful individuals who all agreed that there are certain principles for being successful in whatever you’re doing
You need to be clear on what you want to trade your life for
You need persistence to transmute desire into a monetary equivalent
Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat
Poverty is attracted to the person whose mind is favorable to it, as money is attracted to him whose mind has been deliberately prepared to attract it
6 steps on how to build up your desires, so you can increase your persistence
To reach your goals, you must do things with intention and actually change your character so that you’re lined up with principles that allow you to succeed. Asking, “When is it going to happen?” is the wrong question when it comes to your goals.
Persistence will help you make it through the starts and stops, reboots and failures, as you’re trying to correct your own behavior.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 453 – Full Throttle Thursday – How To Trust Yourself In the Year Ahead
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_453-How_To_Trust_Yourself_in_the_Year_Ahead.mp3
When a new year starts, millions of people make resolutions and then don’t do a damn thing with them. Most people will blow off their own goals and not follow through on anything they said they would do.
Today BT and I discuss why it’s important to trust yourself to do what you say you’re going to do. Trusting yourself is the foundation for having an incredible 2022 and beyond.
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
If you repeatedly say you’re going to do something, then don’t do it, it’s damaging to your psychology
Your brain starts to develop a pattern that makes you not trust yourself every time you fail to follow through on something
If you don’t understand how you’re sabotaging yourself, you become a victim to your own self (and your subconscious mind actually has a strategy to get you to do this)
It can take years and years to go up, and going down can happen so fast—so you shouldn’t even allow yourself to take a step down
If we’re going to do something we’ve never done before, we have to learn how to do it
Why BT doesn’t partake in social media—and why he plans on ending his five-year streak of daily running in 2022
When you build self trust, you create a rock-solid belief system where nothing can stop you, because your mind is so used to you keeping your word
2022 can be an amazing year if you start to really build trust with yourself.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 452 – In Search of the Truth: Bret Weinstein & Heather Heying
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_452-ISotT_BretWeinstein_HeatherHeying.mp3
Today I’ve got Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying on the show, and I couldn’t be more excited. Both evolutionary biologists (and a husband and wife team), they’ve spent their careers studying things like tropical biology, behavior, evolution of behavior, and sexual selection. Their book, A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century, became a New York Times bestseller almost instantly, and yet it’s received almost no mainstream press.
Bret and Heather were both popular professors at Evergreen State College for 15 years, teaching students how to think evolutionarily. That all changed in 2017—when 50 students (whom Bret had never met) showed up at his classroom and demanded his firing and resignation over claims that he was a racist. This led to protests and eventually riots. Bret and Heather found themselves dragged into a very public fight at the college over diversity, equity, and inclusion measures. They left the college and are now reaching a much larger audience.
In search of the truth, I had to interview them. In today’s episode, we discuss:
How the free speech crisis on college campuses isn’t really a “free speech” crisis—but a crisis of a much different nature (and it’s not limited to college campuses)
How we all function by heuristics, which leads us to making all kinds of assumptions about what we see
Why resorting to heuristics is leading many people to see a very compelling, but false, picture—and why seemingly intelligent individuals can’t see what’s actually taking place in the world
Science is supposed to be based on challenging the status quo and letting the data prove what the answer (or truth) is—but what we’re seeing is, in fact, an anti-scientific approach
Why massive protests are taking place all around the world in countries where the people understand what tyranny is and are standing up against it—yet we’re not seeing any of that in the US
Why people who were raised in the “WEIRD world” (Western, educated, industrialized, rich, democratic) are susceptible to certain optical illusions, while other people aren’t
Bret and Heather say the rate of change in our world is outpacing our ability to keep up with it—as well as our ability to understand what is true. From an evolutionary perspective, if we can’t keep up with the rate of change, we will perish. And that’s the whole point.
This is a fascinating interview you don’t want to miss!

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 451 – Mindset Monday’s – What You Choose to Believe is a Place
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_451-TEM365_MDM_03-27-21-What_You_Choose_To_Believe_is_a_Place.mp3
Many years ago, I was traveling and stayed in a beautiful four-star hotel. It was different from anything I’d ever experienced growing up. I wanted to hold that image and have all the beauty and luxury of that place burned into the cells of my mind.
I was on my way to fly home. One of the biggest snowstorms in history was causing all the flights to be canceled. I remember sitting in a limo and having a conversation with my mentor, Bob Proctor. I told him I wasn’t sure if I’d make it home, due to the weather. He looked at me, dead serious, and asked, “When are you going to start practicing what we teach?”
In today’s episode I’m sharing that story and revealing details about it that I’ve never told anyone. You’ll learn:
Why “holding the image” of what you want is so powerful (even while everyone around you is complaining)
Why you don’t have to be bound by the ‘rules’ of your circumstances
How I found myself at a hotel that was a hell hole—and made a decision, “I’m not staying here. I’m going home.”
Why you should never let the facts of an old belief control the decision you make for you want
How many people have come up to my team and said, “I’m going to be one of your best students”—and then we never hear from them again (because they don’t have the belief in themselves)
There’s a difference between WISHING for a thing and being READY to receive it
No one is ready for a thing, until he BELIEVES he can acquire it
No matter what you want in life, your job is to hold the image of it in your mind—and to actively believe it. Build that image, make the decision, and manifest something new in your life.
As Napoleon Hill says, “No more effort is required to aim high in life, to demand abundance and prosperity than is required to accept misery and poverty.”

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 450 – Full Throttle Thursday – 2021: A Look Back on the Year That Was
https://media.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/content.blubrry.com/thesuccessfulmindpodcast/TSM_Episode_450-2021-A_Look_Back_at_the_Year_That_Was.mp3
Most people were probably expecting 2021 to be way different from 2020. We were hoping things would get back to normal—and instead, they took a turn for the worse.
I’ve had many interesting observations throughout this year. I’ve watched what’s been happening in the world, while also helping my clients and students adapt to these changes so they can prosper. Today BT and I reflect on 2021 and how it unfolded.
In this episode we discuss:
The massive changes humanity is facing that we’ve never seen before—and why I believe we’re heading in a dangerous direction
Why we need to let go of “how things were before” and ask different questions, so we can adapt, move forward, and make things even better than they were before
How constant fear is psychologically damaging and messes with people’s minds to no end
Some thoughts on my interview with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying, two evolutionary biologists (coming in January!)
Why people in different countries are responding to totalitarian measures with enormous pushback, taking to the streets in huge protests—yet we’re seeing none of that in the US
Why many people are questioning whether to start a family and have children—and how Elon Musk believes human beings could go extinct if we don’t boost the population back up
For decades, we’ve heard that the world is falling apart, the political left is going to kill us, the political right is going to kill us…etc. It’s like the story, “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” It’s led many people to bury their head in the sand, but right now, people need to wake up.
We’re in a very serious time in history that requires us all to dig a little deeper to learn how to think, to treat each other with love and respect, and to start looking for real solutions for our life. If we keep burying our head in the sand, we’re going to find ourselves in a world we don’t recognize—and one that we’re ill-equipped to handle.
Regardless of the change taking place, the good news is, change always brings with it opportunity. There’s opportunity in any environment if you’re willing to put in the work.
