95. The Brutally Simple Reason Why You're Not Profitable

In today's episode, I continue my deep dive conversation with fellow Arizona agent and business owner, Kevin Kauffman. We jump into profitability (and why it eludes so many of us), the power of events and the impact getting around other agents can have on your business and even your life. Profit - it's the whole entire point that we run businesses. For such a critical, and even fundamental topic, agents will talk about everything else but whether or not they are making a profit, and there's a reason. Staying on top of your numbers requires a scary level of maturity. Whatever financial decision we make has an impact on the bottom line, and that level of responsibility is so uncomfortable, we'd rather avoid it altogether. It's the equivalent of stepping on the scale and knowing we have to make lifestyle changes to take care of our health. If we ran a publicly traded company, every decision would need to be justified to a board, a CFO, and a whole horde of people. In real estate, we can get away with not doing that, but it's something we must force on ourselves if we really do want to be profitable. 94. Building a Team, Dismantling a Team and Client Appreciation Events.

In this episode, Chris interviews Geordan Keys and discusses his professional journey from working as a physical therapy tech after college in 2015 to obtaining his real estate license and ultimately diving full-time into his business. Following this, Geordan discusses an upcoming spring training event for past clients and others in his database, highlighting the importance of client appreciation events. As a new father to a four-month-old, Geordan touches on balancing his time between business and family, suggesting incorporating family time into work, such as having children watch their parents work for better immersion and understanding. In this episode, the guest reflects on the evolution of his career, particularly focusing on how he scaled his real estate business. He highlights the importance of hiring the right people as the key to scaling, even placing it above systems in order of significance. The conversation further examines the critical role of always considering people you meet as potential buyers or hires and preparing for those opportunities in advance. The guest also touches upon his own personality traits, such as being highly driven and social, which require him to step outside the office to think and reflect.
