Breaking ADHD Perfectionism and Burnout Cycles

Perfectionism combined with ambition, control, over-achievement, restless energy, productivity-guilt and burnout are tendencies I see and hear about a lot in ADHD women. It can be exhausting living like this, and many of us struggle to break the cycle, which causes spates of burnout. However, when we create awareness around these behaviour patterns, which are often subconscious and unintentional, we can build better boundaries and gently remove the internal pressures we put on ourselves.Today on the ADHD Women's Wellbeing Podcast, I speak to Michaela Thomas,  a Clinical Psychologist, coach, founder of the psychology practice The Thomas Connection and author of The Lasting Connection – develop love and compassion for yourself and your partner.Michaela specialises in perfectionism combined with stress, anxiety, depression, productivity, procrastination, burnout and overall wellbeing. On today's ADHD Women's Wellbeing Podcast, Kate and Michaela talked about the following:Burnout, ambition, overwhelm and not feeling good enough with neurodivergent womenProductivity, procrastination and shamePerfectionism is a mask we use to hideUnderstanding the wiring of our neurodivergent brain The tools and strategies to help with hyperfocus and burnoutChoosing different ways to live and what's important to us in different seasonsSelf-boundaries, self-compassion and seeing our limitations Softening a 'should' to a 'could, removing self-blame Being overwhelmed by all our ideas, pulling the reigns backCelebrating our impulsive energy and creative imaginationHarnessing our energy with regular breaks and self-compassionCycle breaking from previous generationsThe pressure we put on ourselves and using our intuition Try Get Dopa here with a 10% discount: https://bit.ly/adhdwomenswellbeing10Kate Moryoussef is a women’s ADHD Lifestyle & Wellbeing coach and EFT practitioner helping overwhelmed yet unfulfilled (many with ADHD like her) women find more calm, balance, health, compassion, creativity and clarity. Have a look at some of Kate's workshops and free resources here.Follow the podcast on Instagram hereFollow Kate on Instagram hereHave a read of Kate’s articles in ADDitude magazine hereMentioned in this episode:Gratitude link

ADHD Loud and Proud with Kara Marni

I've always been a firm believer that once we're aware of our neurodivergence, we all need to be 'Tapping into our ADHD Gold'. I even created a workshop (check it out here) specifically about this, as I believe that when we reframe our strengths and stop focussing as much on all our challenges and what we can't do, the ADHD genius is given more space to expand! And this is what we talk about in today’s episode with my guest, Kara Marni, a rising soul and R&B vocalist who has been on a steady ascension since 2019 when she headlined the Pussy Parlure stage at Glastonbury before embarking on a sold-out UK & European tour. In this period, the singer/writer has gone on to support many notable artists, from Lewis Capaldi to Rita Ora, Raye and Ray BLK to name a few, with a string of festivals and high-profile performances to her name, including Reading & Leeds and Glastonbury. Kara is a family girl who grew up in a house of music (& food) lovers and credits her Greek ancestry for a confident personality, big appetite and big hair. Seldom short of something to say, Kara is a self-professed chatterbox, injecting her creativity and high energy into her lyricism. A self-taught guitarist, Kara recently partnered with supporters Fender as a part of their impressive roster. On today's ADHD women's Wellbeing Podcast, Kate and Kara speak about:Focusing the energy of ADHD children in schoolFinding the right educational environment for ADHDKara's passion for music and perfromingThe joy of channelling your hyper-focus positively Being creative over academic in the school systemBeing mindful without meditation Leaning into self-care to prevent burnoutKnowing your energy and how to work with it Choosing to be sober with ADHDYou can find out more about Kara on Instagram, @karamarni Try Get Dopa here with 10% discount: https://bit.ly/adhdwomenswellbeing10Kate Moryoussef is a women’s ADHD Lifestyle & Wellbeing coach and EFT practitioner helping overwhelmed yet unfulfilled (many with ADHD like her) women find more calm, balance, health, compassion, creativity and clarity. Have a look at some of Kate's workshops and free resources here.Follow the podcast on Instagram hereFollow Kate on Instagram hereHave a read of Kate’s articles in ADDitude magazine hereMentioned in this episode:Gratitude link
