Client Management Isn't What You Think It Is
When we talk about the life of a Client Account Manager, there's a lot that goes into this role. Not only are CAMs client-facing and in-charge of client relationships, but there's also a ton of other PM facets and operational pieces that go into the role that can sometimes be overlooked.
In this episode of the Happy Clients Podcast, we get a lil bit more granular on what our roles really entail. Of course, this looks different from agency to agency! All in all, we hope you'll see just how critical our roles are as a superhero in the agency 🦸♀️
Our role can include lots of admin work — don't get us confused with a VA, because the admin work we do is marketing-focused and project management-focused.
There are lots of meetings internally with the agency.
We create processes galore— we need to be tech-savvy and process-oriented in order to be suuuuuper efficient in our role.
There sometimes is a bit of hand-holding and pushing things to completion internally.
We take charge of reporting and digging into the advertising data to ensure our clients are educated on the progress of their campaigns and ad spend.
As CAMs, we become experts in wearing all the hats and probably wouldn't have it any other way. We take pride in our work and always try to have fun while doing it. Cheers to that CAM life!

Listen, running an agency is no joke. There are SO many things going on behind the scenes that people don't see. But how are you ensuring that your clients are your top priority, and they feel delighted?
Here are some ways to surprise and delight your agency clients.
#1. Make your clients feel like they are your only client. Like most digital marketing agencies, you’re drowning in emails, meetings timelines and to-do lists every day. You’re juggling clients and their projects, doing everything to make their businesses successful—but you don’t have time to make each client feel like your only client, let alone find time to build your business. We get it. We’ve been there, and we weren’t okay with our clients (or our business) taking second place to their projects. Now, clients are our first (and only) priority. The Systems We Ensure Every Agency Has
Systems are the backbone of any successful agency, we all know this. But how do we ensure each agency we're working with has the right systems so that we can jump in and keep their clients happy?
Firstly, we look at the client onboarding system. This is one of the most important systems because it's the first experience the client has when they start working with your agency. If you don't have a client onboarding system already and your agency, click here to download ours. Inside of this client onboarding system, we look for certain elements, which you'll hear all about in this episode.
Next up, we look at the ongoing management of the clients. A big part of our role as a Client Account Manager is to keep clients happy on an ongoing basis, so here are some questions:
where are we going to be sending reports? How often?
Who is responsible for each piece of the reporting puzzle?
Do we have email and reporting templates in place?
These are all really important things to keeping clients happy on an ongoing basis.
Next, is gifts! Who doesn't love receiving something in the mail? If we have something systematized, most likely inside of the agency's project management software, where we as a Client Account Manager are responsible for sending gifts, this makes it sooo much easier for us to manage the relationship! Also, when it comes down to resigning the contract in 3 months, it's more promising they'll extend their contract when we've had the chance to WOW the client & build a relationship over an extended period.
