How An Account Manager Can Be a Profit Center vs. a Cost Center
You have an amazing opportunity to create a long-term relationship with your new account manager. So, how do you do this?
What you really need to understand before bringing an account manager is what goals you have around this role. Eg. if you are currently the agency owner and you are drowning in all the client emails and client meetings, well then your situation looks different than an agency that has five account managers and they simply need more help. Are you in less meetings? Are you not having to check your email all the time? Are your clients happier? Are your clients staying longer?
You are bringing in an account manager who has experience in marketing and really wants to make a difference in your agency—so if you can put a roadmap in place inside your agency and leverage the skills & experience of your account manager, then you will really build such a long-term relationship with this account manager because you’re investing in them and they're investing in you and overall everything is going to run smoother.

The Secret To Saying "No" To Clients
We’ve all been there: You’ve signed a client with a specific scope of work—but the client is trying to squeeze *a little bit* more out of you. At first, you say yes because it’s just a bit, right? But, as we all know, every little bit adds up, and before you know it, the project is out of scope, you’re not being compensated for your time, and you start to feel resentful—not a recipe for success (or happiness).
On this episode of The Happy Clients Podcast, we’re talking boundaries: The ins and outs of saying no to clients when they ask for that little bit more. We share our secret to saying no, plus tips for empowering your team to set and uphold those boundaries for your agency.
Say hello to freedom, friend.

If Your Team Needs Help With Written Communication, Listen To This
If Your Team Needs Help With Written Communication, Listen To This
Written communication is a basic (but very important) aspect of being a strong client manager. But, often it's hard to teach someone, especially if they come to your agency with old habits!
You know that saying, you can't teach an old dog new tricks? We'll you can, and you're about to learn how.
We were asked by SO many agency owners how we train our team on written communication that we dedicated one of our monthly internal training sessions to this topic. We met as a team and talked about our best practices when it comes to written communication—whether that's email, Slack, Asana, ClickUp, or anything else that we are touching as a Client Account Manager.
In this episode, you will hear the exact training session that we did internally here at DOT & Company, and you will also hear from a couple of our Client Account Manager's struggles as they are working inside of agencies. We even had a question from one of our training sessions "how do I know if I'm being too positive in my written communications to clients?".
Whether you are an agency owner or you are training your team to communicate with your clients, share this episode to improve your team's written communications.
