Episode 125: Loren Landow of Landow Performance - Coaching Pedagogy, Building Trust and Coaching Multi-Directional Speed

This episode’s guest is Loren Landow of Landow Performance. Coach Landow is highly sought after for his ability to analyze and correct biomechanics. His goal is to maximize human performance, while decreasing the likelihood of injury. He has trained thousands of athletes of all ages and abilities, including over 700 professional athletes in the NFL, NHL, MLB, UFC, WNBA and Olympic medalist. Coach Landow has worked with over 70 NFL All-Pro’s and over 20 first round draft selections in the NFL. He has been a National and International presenter for the leading organizations in the performance field, and also serves as a consultant for many professional and collegiate teams across the country. Coach Landow developed the ACL prevention program and the ACL return to sport protocols for the world-renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic-Denver. He currently is the owner and director of Landow Performance. Coach Landow serves on the Board of Directors for the Exercise Science Program at Metro State University and also the Board for the Master’s program for Setanta College in Ireland. He also serves as the Sports Performance Director for Elite Sports University, an online education website. Chris Barnard is a strength and conditioning coach at Strength Camp, a hardcore athlete training facility in St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as author of multiple performance programs. He earned his Bachelors in Applied Kinesiology and Physiology at the University of Miami, where he initially went to play football before becoming ineligible. He has worked with athletes at all levels and from many different sports to produce the highest level of performance in each. He currently resides in St Petersburg, Florida and continues to pursuit breakthroughs in athletic performance. Episode 119: Dr. Ben House - Take Control for your Health, Wellness and Happiness

This episode’s guest is Dr. Ben House of Functional Medicine Costa Rica. Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP). House was accepted to medical school without an undergraduate degree, but rescinded because during this time his father was fighting for his life with debilitating diverticulitis. The conventional medical model prescribed him pain killers, antibiotics, saltine crackers, and white bread. This pushed House to question the sick care model and look for the underlying lifestyle and dietary factors that could be the reason why his father was in so much pain. Lo and behold his father had Celiac disease and within a week of removing all grains and diary from his diet he was symptom free. This was Dr. House’s first taste of Functional Medicine and he knew at that moment that this would be his life’s passion. Since then he has studied under some of the best in the world and continues to regularly attend and present at conferences and seminars around the world. As a strength coach, House has worked at both the high school and collegiate levels, including time under Coach Wright at the University of Texas Basketball. Besides practicing Functional Med, coaching, and writing articles for Functional Medicine Costa Rica, House has numerous publications in peer-reviewed, high-impact scientific journals. House blends his knowledge of research and Functional Medicine with years of experience working directly with a variety of different clients. Episode 117: Bob Takano - Programming for Olympic Weightlifting

This episode’s guest is Bob Takano of Takano Weightlifting.   Bob Takano is a highly respected weightlifting coach who was inducted into the USA Weightlifting Hall of Fame in 2007 for his contributions to coaching. He has been the coach of four national champions, two national record holders, and 27 top ten nationally ranked lifters. Bob has been on the coaching staffs of 17 U.S. National teams to international competitions, five of those being World Championships and the Summer Olympics. His lifters have competed in seven Olympic Trials with one, Albert Hood, the third American to snatch double bodyweight, earning a berth on the 1984 team. Furthermore Bob has been a CSCS since 1986, having authored six articles for the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Journal, and served as a member of the editorial board of that journal from 1996 to 2000. He has also co-authored a chapter for the NASM’s Essentials of Sports Performance Training, and a chapter on the Training of Weightlifters for the IOC Sports Medicine Commission’s Encyclopedia of Strength and Power. 20 of the female volleyball players he’s coached have earned Division 1 scholarships. Bob is on the teaching staff for the USAW Weightlifting Coaching Education program and presents his own seminars as well. He was also part of the CrossFit Weightlifting Seminar staff.
