Dr Martin Whitely: Overprescribing Madness
Dr Martin Whitely is a mental health researcher and former Western Australian Member of Parliament. Martin led studies proving that the youngest children in schools are considerably more likely than their older classmates to be ‘medicated' for ADHD, as well as research exposing a troubling correlation between antidepressant usage and suicide among young Australians. He is also the author of an eye-opening book called Overprescribing Madness. Prof Julia Rucklidge: The Better Brain
In this episode, I spoke with Professor Julia Rucklidge. Julia is a Professor of Clinical Psychology in the School of Psychology, Speech, and Hearing at the University of Canterbury. Originally from Toronto, she did her training in neurobiology at McGill University and her Master's and Ph.D. at the University of Calgary. She is regularly featured across social media, newspaper, radio, and TV and has given over 100 invited talks across the world on her work on nutrition and mental health. Her 2014 TEDx talk has been viewed over 1.5 million times.
