Ep.4 Alexander Beiner-Literary World to Underworld: Knowing, Spiritual Narcissism & Psychedelics
Exploring Ali's journey out of the literary world and his latest series of pieces of Medium concerning 'Lost Ways of Knowing'. We riffed on the 'dance' of being between openness and ground and then explored the challenges of charismatic narcissism in spiritual communities and the ongoing cultural questions around psychedelics.
Alexander Beiner is the co-founder of Rebel Wisdom where he is responsible for live events, summits and facilitation of retreats and workshops. Previously a novelist, meditation instructor and co-organiser of the psychedelics conference Breaking Convention he is currently writing long form pieces exploring Embodied Cognition, Culture and how a deeper Mytho-Poetic understanding can guide us through a time between worlds.

Ep.3 Johannes Niederhauser-Philosophising Today: Remembering Being and Returning to Plato's Cave
In my first conversation with Johannes we talked about his journey leaving the academy and participating in the new philosophical emergence with the founding of the Halykon Guild. We considered why philosophy lacks standing today and the re-appearance of questions of being and stillness. Lastly we riffed on Nietzsche's death of God and how we have 'swallowed the ocean' and wiped away the horizon of man. As accompaniment to the conversation see Johannes' powerful reading of 'Death of God' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRM-c...
Johannes Niederhauser is a philosopher from Germany who recently completed a PhD entitled 'Heidegger on Death and Being' at Warwick University. He is the founder of the Halykon Guild and runs the Classical Philosophy Youtube Channel where he is re-enlivening philosophy from Socrates to Nietzsche in the public domain. I went on a conversational journey with the eccentric and insightful Daniel Simpson through hash smoking Indian yogis, the history of meditation, 'woo woo', 'McMindfulness', Tantra and Spiritual Bypass. We explored how practiced living can empower us to 'be with what is' as well as the importance of embodied acceptance in responding to the Meta/Ecological Crisis.

He has a Masters in Traditions of Yoga and Meditation from SOAS and teaches as the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies. He is co-hosting a Yogic Inquiry Retreat in Portugal this July. Ep.2 Awakening to Connection and Rethinking Mental Health after COVID-19
In this conversation Charley and I explored the emotional and mental health challenges of COVID-19 as well as its unique opportunities as a moment to reflect. As humanity collectively steps into uncertainty and liminality, Charley guides us through the profound value of coming into personal relationship with the unknown through embodiment, vulnerability and authentic connection with others. We talk about culture and addiction, riff on the meta-Crisis, reflect on my own Corona freakout and why we shouldn't be so keen to go back to things as they were before this.
Charley Lee is a Psychotherapist and the Neuroscience lead at Connection Studio: a social business championing the evolution of therapy, wellbeing and human connection. There he is leading efforts to integrate the latest technologies and practices in human potential with traditional psychotherapy.
