The Power of Thriving Communities for Businesses with Shana Lynn

How can I use my community to increase conversions? How can I use my community to serve my customers longer? And how can I use my community to spread the word and become incredible affiliates? If you're not asking yourself these three key questions as a business owner, you probably should be. Creating thriving communities and empowered community teams for your business is the powerful theme we're addressing in today's Digital Marketer podcast episode. As the Lifetime Customer Value becomes more important than ever, and as we start to see a trend of people returning to the "AOL roots" of community forums and chat groups, how business owners learn to connect with their customers is a challenging exercise. Especially when one considers how far away we've drifted from the core principles that community involvement elucidates for human engagement and the brands we buy into. The good news is that you can show up authentically as a business owner, listen to what your customers are saying, operate ethically, and create meaningful customer engagement – and you'll be well on your way. According to Shana Lynn, an expert in her field of community marketing, this requires engagement not just for engagement's sake. Rather, we need to understand the role of progress as reflected in our community: how are we doing better, and how are we getting results?Learn how to get clear on your purpose, beliefs, behaviors, and boundaries as you build a thriving community (that is ultimately about fostering human connection and other evergreen marketing principles) – all in today's episode that shines a bright light on the value of community for your brand. Shana Lynn is a Community Strategist and the Founder of Community Cultivated, which has helped over 1000 communities. With over a decade of experience in community marketing, Shana is an expert in her field. Create thriving communities and empowered community teams for your online business. Or "throw credit cards at your face," as today's effervescent guest, Molly Mahoney (The Prepared Performer), likes to put it.The Social Sales Shuffle is Molly's three-step guide to rousing your social media profile from its slumber, then creating better online community engagement, then teasing out the business challenges your ideal customer is having, and then presenting your offering as the solution. It's a myth that our ideal customer is someone we don't know at all. Switch Offers and Quick Wins - Kevin Barber Sells That First Meeting

How much do you as a marketer value that first meeting? Simply put, if you can't sell a meeting, you can't sell your product. So it all starts with what happens at that first meeting! Kevin Barber is the Founder and Head of Growth at Lean Labs and he's emphasizing the seemingly obvious point that you need to be able to sell the meeting to sell your service. Together with host Mark de Grasse, Kevin is offering the TDM audience some rapid-fire solutions to establishing a quick win from that first meeting, getting past that 'first dollar problem', and then building a trusting relationship with a customer. And if it then doesn’t work out at that first consult, chances are the client will have friends and can make referrals. So get that meeting!Other proactive solutions offered include providing market insights rather than talking about what you can offer (and how great you are). Or better yet, have a low-risk offer with a ‘one week win’ to build trust. As is customary with TDM these days, there's talk of AI and here again, Kevin has some insights and terminology that host Mark de Grasse reckons he should trademark. Is it AI (Artificial Intelligence) or IA (Intelligence Augmentation)? Kevin shares how his company is using AI to produce stellar results for his clients by saving him and his team time at the conceptual stages of any project. So, from articulating the goals of that first meeting to articulating your Intelligence so that AI can Augment it, it's all here on today's episode that is a guaranteed "quick win". Kevin Barber is the Head of Growth @ Lean Labs and a mentor to 50+ High Growth Companies. He is also a M3 member at DigitalMarketer.Key Takeaways:01:33 If you can't sell a meeting, you can't sell your product02:50 Having a low-risk offer with a quick win to build trust05:00 The value of a switch offer that gets you past that 'first dollar problem'06:30 Understanding that the goal of the meeting is to give them a new perspective09:34 TIP: Shifting from articulating what's great about you to providing market insights13:23 How does Kevin get a six-figure client the 'one week win'? 17:55 Understanding what a 'win' means for the client22:34 How is Kevin integrating AI into his business? 25:32 Is it AI (Artificial Intelligence) or IA (Intelligence Augmentation)? 30:52 Kevin shares a practical use of AI in his businessConnect with Kevin Barber :Website - https://www.thekevinbarber.com/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/thekevinbarber/Be sure to subscribe to the podcast at: https://www.digitalmarketer.com/podcast/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/digitalmarketerInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/digitalmarketer/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/digital-marketer/This Month's Sponsors:Conversion Fanatics - Conversion Rate Optimization AgencyGet 50% Off Monthly Blog Writing Service - BKA Content More Resources from Scalable[Free Guide & Assessment] 7 Levels of ScaleFREE EPIC Challenge More Shows You'll LovePerpetual Traffic - The #1 podcast for learning paid traffic and improving your conversions!Business Lunch - Sit down every week with some of the most successful people in the world. The Importance of an Agile, Responsive CMO with David Fossas

What is the role of a CMO in today’s marketing landscape? Often a CMO will get hired as a band-aid for a company’s marketing ailment, and as such, they don’t usually stick around for too long at any one company.‘The 4 Ps’ – Product, Price, Placement, Promotion – are still the core of your business. How the CMO has a voice in the room to influence the thought process in these key areas is succinctly articulated by a CMO with a keen understanding of the challenges of modern-day marketing. Please join us. CMOs that are coming up in the social media SEO scene with an understanding of platforms like TikTok are obviously different from CMOs who’ve come up through the ranks of an agency and have a different take on marketing strategies. And so, because marketing is being seen as an increasingly specialized role, with CMOs being hired for demand generation or the next marketing challenge (instead of letting them evolve with the company), the role of the CMO is constantly changing.Creating credibility for the role of the CMO and the overall company marketing strategy (and getting department buy-in) is one of the challenges David addresses in this interview. He also touches on the need for marketing to be agile and responsive, and how to frame marketing in the same way we do products. David Fossas is a growth-stage leader with a great track record of driving revenue and the advancement of companies from startup to maturity. He is also the current CMO of Staccato and is in conversation with TDMs Mark de Grasse about the importance of having a Chief Marketing Officer who is in tune with the rest of the company’s needs.David Fossas is the current CMO of Staccato, an outdoor lifestyle brand. He has previously worked with over 35 brands, including General Motors, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Verizon, HP, Inc., Visa, and more. You can find him on Twitter (occasionally) and Instagram at the links below. Key Takeaways:01:30 What is the role of the CMO, and why is their tenure statistically so short? 04:00 The importance of the CMO educating other C-Suite team members on company strategy06:20 Appreciating where new CMOs are coming from08:00 How to talk about marketing with the other departments in your company09:43 Why marketing needs to be the most responsive aspect of any organization14:00 How do CMOs differentiate their roles in product versus brand development?18:35 Where does the disconnect happen with CMOs in a company’s organization?  21:25 How did David become a CMO?28:15 David’s advice for aspirant CMOsConnect with David Fossas:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/dfossas/?hl=enTwitter - https://twitter.com/dfossasBe sure to subscribe to the podcast at: https://www.digitalmarketer.com/podcast/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/digitalmarketerInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/digitalmarketer/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/digital-marketer/This Month's Sponsors:Conversion Fanatics - Conversion Rate Optimization AgencyGet 50% Off Monthly Blog Writing Service - BKA Content More Resources from Scalable[Free Guide & Assessment] 7 Levels of ScaleFREE EPIC Challenge More Shows You'll LovePerpetual Traffic - The #1 podcast for learning paid traffic and improving your conversions!Business Lunch - Sit down every week with some of the most successful people in the world. Are you focusing on one Key Performance Indicator at a time to not muddy the water you’re marketing in? Are you making the mistake of ‘channel chasing’ and trying to spread your product and marketing across a host of social media platforms just for the sake of it? In other words, are you moving from one platform to the next to solve a problem, instead of addressing your positioning? The best product won’t save bad marketing.
