Diet Culture
Today's episode came to me in the middle of the night (yes literally!) and I had to share it with you. I want to talk about diet culture and some of the pressures that you can have from society around diets. The number one thing I want you to take away from this episode is the need for self love! The love you have for yourself needs to be complete and total unconditional love. Even though the scale might not be the number you want or your favorite pair of pants don't fit like they use to, the most important thing to remember is to love yourself unconditionally. In my coaching, I talk about health at every size with my clients. Because health is not just the number on the scale, it is also how you feel inside. Are you able to take your dog on a walk? Are you able to play with your kids or grandkids? Health is about so much more than the physical appearance. When it comes to food, I don't cancel anything out. I believe in balance and lifiving life! However, I do have an acronym for "DIET" that I use every day - Do I Eat This? I ask myself how will it make me feel? This is something that has helped me in my personal journey!Do you want more episodes to review for more self love? Getting into Yoga
Today we are talking about one of my favorite things to do for my own physical and mental health... YOGA! It has taken me many years to embrace yoga but has truly transformed both my mind and body.I took my first yoga class when I was only 18 years old. A friend and I decided to try hot yoga and we soon realized that it was not for the faint of heart. Needless to say we did not make it through the entire class. But this started my wellness journey.I always looked at exercise as a way to keep my body looking a certain way. Through my 20-30s exercise was just something that I did, it was not a mind and body connection. I tried light weight training which led to high interval training. But ultimately I felt that disconnect between my mind and body.Since then I have rediscovered yoga and it has been a fantastic way to stay present and healthy. One of my favorite online yoga resources is Yoga with Adriene. She has an amazing YouTube channel full of great yoga videos. Follow along with her below!Yoga with AdrieneAdriene's YouTube Channel If you practice yoga or decide to try it for the first time let me know!
