136 Feel Like You Have NO Time?
Ever feel like you have no time? No time to pursue a dream, no time to meditate, no time to even clean your house or shower? Me too. I am a busy mama and entrepreneur. Now don't get me wrong, it's a good busy. It's a busy I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. But damn, finding the time to do anything – like this podcast episode, for example – is really hard. But I did it – I brag. Truth be told, I've had a lot of anxiety recently around getting it all done without compromising on anything. It feels like when I'm spending time with my son, Shay I should be writing newsletter copy and when I'm making a social media post I should be snuggling with Josh and when I'm finally making time for myself I should be literally anywhere else. Of course, these shoulds don't help, so I'm throwing them out. Ever since becoming a mom, I've had to learn how to spend my time – and my energy. I'm so not perfect at it, but in this episode, I share the tools I'm learning to make my precious time work for me. Your time is precious, too. In this mini - episode, I talk all about: The 4 Keys to Managing Time Well. How to prioritize and make peace with what doesn't get done. How to take imperfect action Time Suckers and how to avoid them. How you can find grace for yourself and a big, virtual hug from me, to me, and to you. Today, instead of beating myself up for all the things I haven't done, I'm clear on priorities and taking imperfect action, and it feels so good. I'm also finding some extra space and love for myself because if I push myself too far, there will be no business, baby, hubby, friends, amazing life, or ME to love. 135 Celebrating YOURSELF!
Do you self-depricate or self-celebrate? Have a hard time taking compliments? Do you beat yourself up or have an inner mean girl? Then listen up. Oh my Goddess this episode is so JUICY! I am so fired up, so excited, to bring you this episode because it's all about one of my very favorite things – bragging! Yes, you read that right – I LOVE to celebrate myself, I love hearing other women celebrate themselves, so, I share why you should be bragging, too. Women are taught from an incredibly young age – far before we have the processing skills to even realize it's happening – that we need to swallow our opinions, hide our success, hate ourselves, and constantly compare what we have and do to everyone around us. Talk about a recipe for disaster and depression! This is where bragging or self-celebrating comes in – it is the practice of shamelessly sharing the remarkable successes you are experiencing, no matter how big or small they are! In this episode, I talk all about: All the reasons why you need to practice self-celebration and own your greatness – hint: there's physiology and psychology science to it. The self-fulfilling prophecy you get stuck in, and how you can get out of the cycle. What is a Circle of Love, how to get one, and why you need one. What I'm celebrating about myself right now! The Hedonic Treadmill and how it is holding us back from enjoying our lives! Doors for my last EVER round of my signature program – EMPOWERED – are officially OPEN. 134 Your Life is Your Legacy
We are all constantly searching for more meaning in our lives, we want to leave a legacy. The legacy we create is how you live every day, moment by moment, in the many communities and Sisterhoods your heart calls home. Sharing who you are with people you love is the best way to leave a lasting, beautiful legacy that people will talk about for generations. Our guest today is so special because she is the embodiment of this concept. An immigrant from Jamaica who came to the States to grow her opportunity and make her many communities back home proud, she has a legacy anyone would be incredibly proud of. In this episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I'm fortunate to be joined by Janet Autherine, the Founder of The Island Mindful Path to Transformation, and CEO of Autherine Publishing. She is the author of 4 books that are focused on empowering women and children, and her insights have been featured in national media, such as Forbes, Medium, and many highly-rated podcasts. Janet shares with us how combining her hopeful and optimistic Jamaican roots with all she's learnt along her mindfulness journey was key to find her very own way of shaping her legacy. In this episode, Janet and I discuss the following: The incredible power of community and Sisterhood. How important and powerful it is to say the names of the women in our lineage when we speak of them. That there is so much power in valuing the things we are good at – and how that helps others around us. How we can use mindfulness to connect with who you really are. How to discover our Legacy and why our story and voice always matter. Happiest Thanksgiving, my love. This week's episode is all about one of my very favorite things: Gratitude. 2020 has been hard, but it's taught all of us what's important. My gratitude list is long this year – longer than it has been ever before. So in this episode, I share My Grateful 8 (okay, it's a lot more than just 8, but what can I say, I celebrate that I'm good at being grateful!), I provide you with the science on why gratitude is so good for us (and the lasting effects of it on our overall happiness), plus I share gratitude tools and games you can play right now to improve relationships and your life. No matter who is around your Thanksgiving table this year – or if Thanksgiving is even a happy holiday at all in your home – we can all choose gratitude in our lives every day. I would love to hear about your Grateful 8, so please share that with me if you wish to. In this episode I share: The people and things I'm most grateful for this year Personal stories that contributed to my deep gratitude The science of gratitude and how it has lasting impacts on your life Gratitude games you can play around the Thanksgiving table – even from a distance! 132 The B Side of Motherhood
If you've been around for the last couple months, you know my big news – I became a mother! I love it so much – and I don't shy away from talking about the hard parts. Motherhood can bring about a new type of anxiety and a new type of depression. And many women – including me – even experience a feeling of distance from our babies that is scary and confusing and so. Damn. Hard. In this episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I'm fortunate to be joined by Chiara Townley, a woman who caught my attention because she wrote an article entitled "It Took Me Months to Love My Baby and I Don't Feel Guilty About It" in Good Housekeeping magazine. I mean, HELLO?! It was like she took my story, my feelings, and shared it. In this episode, Chiara and I talk about the challenges of becoming a new mom, and how she moved past the depression to find inner peace, plus how all of us can find inner peace through any and every challenge. In this episode, Chiara and I discuss: The overwhelming, confusing, sad feelings many women experience when they become mothers and how those feelings are valid and normal. Discovering your essence. How to discover and live your soul purpose. The connection between the physical manifestation of our fears, anxieties, and depressions and how they connect to the chakras, our mindset, and energy fields. How affirmations of self-love can heal you as a woman, and a mother. She leads me through a breathing and energy meditation that you can follow along. 131 Shattering the Glass Ceiling
We all have dreams. Huge, amazing, juicy dreams. And maybe we feel like they're not possible. And maybe it's because we don't see people who look like us doing those things. But you can shatter any glass ceiling, and we saw proof of that in this year's election results. Regardless of your politics it's so inspiring to see people who really represent America's beautiful diversity getting recognized and elected. The value of inspiration or the feeling of being inspired is not just the juicy feeling itself – the value of inspiration is that it breathes life into us and shows us what already exists in our truest selves. Think about it - when we are inspired by someone or something that they've done, it speaks to the part of us that says, "me too. I want that, too." This year's election has allowed a lot of people to say "me too" who have never had the chance to. And that, my love, is so inspiring. In this solo episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I talk about how this election was one of inspiration, how it provided millions of people all over the world with positive evidence of what is possible for them, and of course how much I freaking LOVED Madame Vice President-Elect's (AH, I cannot believe I get to call her that!) Suffragette white pant suit. I mean, where do I get one!? We talk about all the firsts that happened this election: everything from Kamala's win, to the first two gay, black men getting elected to congress, the first openly trans congressperson, the first Korean – American elected to congress, and so much more. In this episode, I talk about: The importance of celebrating the glass-ceiling-shattering events that occurred this week, regardless of political affiliation. Inspiration leading to creativity, which leads to endless possibility and opportunity. What confirmation bias is and how this week was an example of moving the lever. PurposePower Tips on how to break any glass ceiling, how to cultivate a list of your desires to allow you to dream and achieve, and how to take action. Want more PurposeGirl?? 130 How to Make Any Job Your Dream Job
How do you feel about your job? Love it? Hate it? Wish it were different? So often, women come to me wanting a NEW job. A true and aligned purpose – and I love supporting that. AND, sometimes, we can make your current job your DREAM job. Is your job aligned with your inner values and connected with your personal strengths? Does it allow you to pursue your purpose? If you answered to 'no' any of these questions, I wouldn't be surprised. That is where I used to be in my job and now that I know what the opposite feels like (I LOVE being PurposeGirl!) I know I can never go back! Research has proven that 60 to 70% of people don't feel engaged to their jobs and working environment – and this number is likely higher this year because of COVID-19. But hold on! Before you decide to quit, give yourself a moment to breathe, to take some time off, and ask yourself some meaningful questions that will allow you to really uncover what actually turn you on at work. Sometimes, it is not about changing the work you do, but switching your own perspective about it. This episode is all about loving the job YOU ALREADY HAVE. In this episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I'm fortunate to be joined by Carson Tate, founder and managing partner of Working Simply, Inc., a business consulting firm that partners with organizations, business leaders and employees to enhance workplace productivity, foster employee engagement, and build personal and professional legacies. Carson shares with us her 5 pillars to "Job Crafting," and explains in detail how reframing your point of view – if you are a positive psychology gal like me, you'll know this also as mindset! - can have a major positive effect on your own job satisfaction and the satisfaction of your coworkers and your bosses. In her very own words: "Any job can be your dream job, because you define the dream." In this episode, Carson and I dig in on: How to do "Job Crafting" – making any job one you love Carson's 5 pillars to job crafting How to ASK for anything you want from your boss, partner, or anyone! How important recognition is, and how to get more of it ('cause you deserve it, love!). How to distinguish the tasks we like to from those we don't – clarity creates opportunity! How to make your job more meaningful How we're all threatened by things like autonomy and fairness and and how to use it to your advantage. You can connect with Carson on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. And you can check out both her personal website and company website. Don't forget to check out her newest book! Own It. Love It. 129 My New Mama Journey
Can you believe it's been already four months since I became a mom!? Shay coming into my life was a dream come true, but it certainly has not been easy. Motherhood has been beautiful, wonderful, pleasurable, and fun. But motherhood has also been frustrating, depressing, so challenging, and uncertain. And since becoming a mom and experiencing all of this firsthand, I've realized something so important: there is a myth that circles the parenthood community of what makes a good mama. This myth is causing us so much emotional damage; we're talking about it today. Along the way I dive into… The myths of what it means to be a good mom and how not being able to do certain things can make us feel like we're failing. The expectation on moms to be able to do everything alone and look good doing it. The fact that making time for self-care during maternity doesn't make you a bad mother. How joining a mom's community can be extremely helpful when it comes to receiving support. Want more PurposeGirl?? Ready to be your full Goddess on Purpose self? 128 Desire on Fire
What are you biggest, juiciest intimate desires? If you don't know, you're not alone. As women, we're taught from a young age to prioritize the needs of others at the expense of their own. We are taught that our pleasures and desires aren't nearly as important as those of the other people in our lives – especially the men. It's time for women to take back their pleasure, and insert it into everything they do. In this episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I interview my soul sister and Burning Man roomie, the Pleasure and Intimacy guru, Aimee Batuski - and we have such a fun, delicious conversation about how women can have turned-on, connected, satisfying lives. As the co-founder of Desire on Fire and the host of The Pleasure Revolution Podcast, Aimee shares how we can tap into our deepest and most intimate desires so that we can transform our current reality into a pleasurable and "juicy" way of living – because we deserve it! In this episode, Aimee and I discuss: How to connect with your body and to what really turns you on What to do with jealousy and complaints A simple question to bring aliveness into your life Why Sisterhood matters The Desire Cycle – what the cycle is an how to implement it to get what you want in life The power of vulnerability Connect with Aimee on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/desireonfire and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/aimeebatuski or https://www.instagram.com/desireonfire).
