145 BE You with Jessica Zweig

Have you ever found yourself chasing goals with a lot of effort, feeling like a hamster in a wheel, only to feel disappointed and empty after achieving them? You do do do and still aren't happy?! Sad but true, most of us were taught to go after generic goals like a prestigious degree, a big salary or a fancy house, rather than to look deep into ourselves to figure out who we are and what we want for our lives. In this episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, Jessica Zweig, award-winning entrepreneur and one of the nation's most preeminent branding experts teaches us how to BE before we DO. She and I have so much fun diving into how to create your personal brand and have ultimate success. Jessica was a "DO'er" with a seemingly successful business, but under the facade, she was broke, in debt, and suffering. She shares her deep transformation journey that led her to a very final conclusion: first, you just have to be you. In this episode, Jessica and I discuss the following: The #1 first step to true purpose (and it's not what you think). How to shift from VICTIM in your life to the powerful CREATOR who creates whatever you desire. The key mindset tweak that will change how you think about failure. Why personal brand matters and how to create it. The key to personal branding (gulp – vulnerability) and how to do it. Small baby steps you can take to move forward. A detailed step by step guide to build an authentic platform for marketing your brand, business and purpose. 143 Turning Grief into Gold

Everyone can relate to grief right now – with COVID and lost jobs and political turmoil and and and… there is so much to grieve it can be overwhelming. But if you are able to transmute your grief into power, it can literally be life changing. Grief is one of the most powerful emotions in the spectrum, so being able to actively harness it and make that shit into fertilizer can truly change everything for you. There is power in that deep emotion. There is power in your pain, sister. And we are here as your sisters to witness you wielding it. In this episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I'm fortunate to be joined by Sara Chizek, a Grief and Sensuality Coach who empowers women to harness the energy of grief, anger, stuckness and turn this energy into joy, pleasure and power to unlock their desires. Sara shares with us how losing her father at the age of 4 lead her to do some serious questioning of her beliefs in her adulthood. She has harnessed her grief and used it to power for goodness in her life. In this episode, Sara and I discuss the following: How so much of what you may be seeking to numb – consciously or subconsciously – is much more nurture than nature. The common source of our need for validation. How emotions are stored physically in the body, and how this has an impact on our overall health. How grief is actually useful data for us. How most people are afraid of facing grief since they believe that if they "go there" they won't be able to make it back. Sara leads us through a practice on grief, one that is powerful and transformative that I know you will find useful. You can learn more about Sara's work on her official web page (https://sarachizek.com/). You can also follow her on Instagram (@thesarachizek) and facebook (@sara.chizek). Last but not least, don't forget to check out "Grieve and Glow", her 10-week group program to make grief your superpower and reclaim your sensual radiance, beginning in February 2021. 141 The Race Conversations We Need to Have with The Kinswomen

Being anti-racist is part of all of our purposes. It's the only way to elevate the world. But white people aren't experts on race, so how do I (or you, if white), do it? After the brutal murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor (and others) this summer, I wanted to know what I could do. Many of my white clients and listeners asked the same - where do we start? This episode gives you answers. Gives you the first -- and second and third -- steps to take. It's our responsibility as white people to educate ourselves towards being as anti-racist as we possibly can and to use our voices for equality. Admittedly, the conversation feels hard and awkward (for me at least), but we need to have it - to see our blind spots, learn and grow. That's what this episode is about. Feel into - how is race part of YOUR purpose? Your happiness? After the tragic murders of innocent black people during the summer of 2020, I woke up to my whiteness. As silly as this may sound, I identified so strongly with being Jewish that I didn't actively realize that I was white. But now, I'm actively stepping into the shoes of my whiteness, and I see how if I want all women to live their dreams, I must do more for racial justice. So, I'm using my privilege – and my platform – to elevate the voices who are more expert than me. And I'm learning. Let's learn together. Today's PurposeGirl Podcast guests use their platform – The Kinswomen Podcast – to help educate people all over the world about racial justice conversations, communication, and marketing. Yseult Polfliet and Hannah Summerhill are great friends who help people have the difficult interracial conversations that need to be had. In this episode, they helped me share a story of racism I've never shared (it's POWERFUL) and allowed me to ask them questions we all need to consider to have racial justice and to be an anti-racist. In this episode you will: Learn the first step to take if you want to help with racial justice. Learn the importance of making the shift between "doing well" and "meaning well." Be led through questions you can ask yourself to uncover where your inner work needs to begin to become more anti-racist. Be challenged to push your own limits of what you imagine and understand diversity to be. Understand how to start the work in your own community, and with your own individual actions. Hear my personal story about racism. Understand the fact that it is almost always the oppressed communities that are doing the work to liberate themselves, and that it's past time that communities of power use their position and privilege to work towards liberation. Recognize that we all have blind spots, and that finding them is messy, but necessary. Let's raise our voices together! About The Kinswomen Yseult Polfliet and Hannah Summerhill are founders of the Kinswomen, a podcast and platform that aims to bridge the gaps between women of color and white women, and have conversations on race and racism from a place of love and compassion. Kinswomen has been named best of 2020 by Elle, Cosmo, and Marie Claire. In addition to their podcast, they facilitate anti-racism courses, and work with companies on their anti-racism journeys. You can learn more about them at www.kinswomenpodcast.com, and follow them on Instagram (@the.kinswomen). If you aren't already, join the Free PurposeGirls Facebook Group! 140 Answering the Call Within

That inner voice is calling to you – will you answer? Inside each of us is the call of the Goddess, or as I like to say, a purpose; something we were all meant to do and meant to be. This call is powerful beyond measure, and if you listen to it and really pay attention to what is being told to you, it will not only guide your life, but provide the opportunity, too. This has manifested for me in creating PurposeGirls – my calling is to inspire, and to light women up. Today's incredible, passionate, brilliant guest has listened to her calling – as she says – from the moment she could think. Nicole Ansari is an award-winning actor, director, writer and producer who has been living her purpose since before she even knew it was an active decision to do so. When you live in alignment, the opportunities come – and Nicole is the living example of that happening. In this episode, Nicole and I talk about: Nicole's incredible journey of discovering her calling, answering the damn phone, and living it every day. How to learn to understand the signals you are getting – both internal and external - so you can find and live in your own calling and purpose. Positive evidence of someone who has found success – even in a potentially challenging industry! – living in her purpose, so you know you can also live in yours. Juicy details about Nicole's newest project: About Nicole Ansari: Nicole Ansari's professional life began in her teens as an actor in Tatort, an iconic German Cop TV series. Ansari studied with the late legendary Uta Hagen, of HB Studios, with Susan Batson at the Actors Studio in NYC and at the Stage School of Dance and Drama in Hamburg. After two feature films for German TV, her first professional engagement was with the Repertory company Neumarkt Theater in Zurich. Following this, she joined the famed Théâtre du Soleil under the direction of Ariane Mnouchkine, in Paris and on a European tour. Her next steps led to being a guest star at the Public Theatre in Vienna in leading roles, multiple arthouse movies and TV shows, including HBO's Deadwood. She continued on to London's West End and Broadway, performing with her husband Brian Cox, and eventually creating a home base in New York. Ansari co-produced two feature Films; "Blumenthal", a comedy in the New York Theatre world, starring her husband Brian Cox and the thriller "As Good As Dead" with Andy McDowell. Adding to her CV as Co-producer + director, is the short documentary "Padim at PS3" about the Arts program in a NYC public school and the web series "Messy". Messy has garnered numerous awards on the festival circuit including Best Director and Best Dramedy at the British Web Awards; Best Web Series at the NY International Film Awards, and best Web Series at the Chicago Independent Film Awards. As a director, Nicole also worked with the Rubin Museum of Art and NY Women in Film. Ansari's lifelong interest in the healing arts brought her to study and train with some of the great teachers of our time. She is a certified Yoga Therapist, Kundalini Yoga, Pre and Postnatal Yoga Instructor, a Life Coach, Theta healing practitioner and a feminine movement teacher. She also has an online Hemp business. Storytelling, for her, is a healing art and she has been merging her interests in helping others to live a passionate life fueled by their wild, authentic self. Nicole has created ACTORS RISING, a program for actors and speakers merging the spiritual path with the Arts. 138 Thank You, 2020 - A Guided Meditation

2020 has been an incredible year of transformation for so many of us. It forced us to feel pain and loss and grief and loneliness and fear. It also has challenged us to adapt and be resilient – to find hope and joy in small places and to make active connection with people all over the globe. 2020 will be a year to remember. One that historians and scientists and activists will write about and study for generations. One our children will tell their children about.
