Between God's promises and His payoff is a process, and when we try to do things on our time, we end up with short-term payoff... but long-term pain. Why is there a waiting season, we ask? It's because all fruit has a season. A waiting season is never a wasted season. God has reconciled us to be reconcilers. When we experience the life-changing grace of Jesus, it's not just for us to keep to ourselves. We have been given a ministry to be like the friends of the paralytic, who each took a corner of the mat where the paralyzed man lay and brought him closer to Jesus for healing. The things we feel about ourselves—that we aren't good enough, smart enough, worthy enough—may be real, but that doesn't make them true. Here is some good news: God does not measure us by how much we resemble Christ, but instead by how much we are in Christ. "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." We are the living stones being stacked together into a house where the Spirit dwells, and there’s a degree of the presence of God that we'll never experience unless we take the living stones of our lives and cement them together in gospel community. Peter's message to us is that our faith can be personal, but it's not designed to be private. Being in community is the framework for change in our lives. Support the show

Have you ever caught yourself thinking, "If I can just change ________, everything will be better"? Try as we may, no change we can ever make in ourselves is enough to fix the problem inside of us. The truth is that we are too broken to make a lasting change, and we are too weak to do it alone. There is no change without exchange--giving up our own power and strength to take on that of Jesus'. Support the show

The strength that we need is a strength that is not our own. Jesus purchased and gifted us the strength that we need to keep going when it feels like life is a marathon, and in times when we feel like we've hit a hill we can't pass, we can remember there was something who has already finished the marathon for us. Support the show
