#134 - Own Your Life, with Magnus Helgesson

Hi there and welcome back to another episode!Magnus Helgesson is a friend and one of the most positive and inspiring people I know. Now a sought-after high performance mental coach & speaker, after starting his first company at 12yo Magnus achieved his dream of becoming a self-made millionaire by the age of 21 …but describes that day as being “one of the saddest days of my life”.It was however a pivotal moment that led him to realise that there is so so much more to life than money – and his focus turned from getting rich to helping others and contributing to the world. His story is one of 'owning his own life' - and as you join us for this rollicking conversation, you’ll get many insights on how to own your own life. Some of the key things you'll learn in this episode:How owning your life demands that you move outside of your comfort zone – embracing discomfort. Why it’s important ‘not to quit’.The importance of helping other people - to fulfil a basic spiritual need we all have. How everything starts with believing you can and the importance of then taking action. How important it is to have a strong ‘reason why’.How important it is for you to have role models. The power of reading and continual learning. How to create new thought patterns by asking yourself the right questions (and 3 key questions to ask yourself). The value of listening to your heart and trusting your intuition.…and how stopping yourself from ‘blaming’ will help you own your life – creating a profound and life changing mind shift to have you seeing bad things that have happened TO you as learning experiences you appreciate because they happened FOR you. #133 - The Magic of Morning Pages Journaling

Hello and welcome to another episode!Years ago I read a wonderful book, The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. A beautiful book which teaches techniques and exercises to assist people in gaining self-confidence to harness their creative talents. One of the techniques recommended was ‘stream of consciousness writing’. Just dumping onto paper what-ever is in your head at any given time.Over time I evolved the practice - called ‘Morning Pages’ – and most mornings for the last decade or so I sit in a quiet place with a blank journal and pen, a cup of tea, a favourite candle lit nearby, and I write…It's become a valuable ritual for me and maybe it's something for you too?"In particular, when things are difficult, I find it so helpful."So much so that when people ask me how I managed to not get burned out as I started and grew kikki.K for over 20 years - working at a hectic pace - I tell them it's thanks to my ritual of Morning Pages journaling.I write whatever comes to mind. Literally just writing in the way that I think. Dumping thoughts on paper as they come... helping me clear my head and heart and set me up for the day ahead. Some of the key things you'll learn in this episode:How to go about Morning Pages journaling. How beneficial it has been for me as a morning ritual and why it might be for you too.How to just keep your hand moving and write - as if no-one will ever read what you've written. Not to worry about being logical or 'right' as you write. If you're interested then you can read more about it here...And you can browse our new Dream Life Morning Pages journals here... I’ll be back next week with another guest so be sure you’re subscribed to the podcast, so you don’t miss. Love,Dream Life Founder   SHOW NOTES:Learn more about the magic of Morning Pages journaling in my Blog hereJoin me in my Personal Growth / Book Club - GROW to study The Artist's Way in August'22 here.Join the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here - and jump into discussions and learning with like-minded people. If you love this episode, don’t forget to subscribe for more inspiration – and please tell us what you thought by leaving us a review! Find yourself a beautiful new personalised journal here.Come see a glimpse of my morning walks in local forests. #132 - LOVE, LOSS & THE MAGICAL HEALING POWER OF NATURE, with Indira Naidoo

Hi there and welcome back to another episode. You will be deeply inspired and moved by my guest today, the wonderful Indira Nadu, a highly respected and popular journalist, broadcaster and author.During her 30-year award winning career in journalism, Indira has hosted and reported for some of the country's most distinguished news and current affair programs, but nothing had prepared her for what came two years ago.In the grip of a global pandemic, Indira’s beloved youngest sister walked out into her suburban backyard and took her life. Indira’s world was shattered.Turning to her urban landscape for solace, she found herself drawn to a fig tree overlooking Sydney Harbor. A connection began to build between the two - one with a fractured heart, the other a centurion, offering quiet companionship while asking nothing in return. The Space Between the Stars  is the heart-rending book she wrote about her experience and is well described by actor David Wenham as, “A tender, touching and at times bloody funny meditation on life. And death. And how to live.”Sitting in on our conversation in this episode, you’ll be inspired by Indira’s insatiable curiosity for people and the world - and how she was eventually able to refocus on the positives of the 48 years she had with her sister rather than the loss…Her story is a wonderful example of what Ernest Hemingway may have meant when he said so well, “Write hard and clear about what hurts.”Putting things on paper – for yourself or others - allowing yourself to be open even if it feels like the hardest or most painful thing you've ever done, can be so helpful. Some of the key things you'll learn in this episode:Practical insights into how to deal with grief – including not being afraid of it.How to support other people dealing with grief. The healing power of nature. How journaling and the process of writing can help make sense of emotions and bring perspective. How silver linings can be found even in the deepest and most raw situations. The beauty of being part of a community. How when dealing with grief or tragedy, asking ‘What meaning is there in this for me?’ is more helpful that asking ‘Why?’. I know you’ll enjoy this episode – and I’d LOVE to hear what you took from it – so please let me know in our Dream Life Podcast Facebook group here or in the comments section below. Sharing with like-minded people is inspiring for us all.I trust this episode inspires you to pick up a journal and start writing regularly – to experience the many benefits of putting pen to paper, even if just for yourself. Browse our beautiful journals here if you need a new one.And please share this episode with anyone you know who is going thru grief.I’ll be back next week with another guest so be sure you’re subscribed to the podcast, so you don’t miss. Love,Dream Life Founder   SHOW NOTES:Find Indira’s book, The Space Between the Stars hereJoin the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here - and jump into discussions and learning with like-minded people. If you love this episode, don’t forget to subscribe for more inspiration – and please tell us what you thought by leaving us a review! Find yourself a beautiful new personalised journal here.Come see a glimpse of my morning walks in local forests. #131 – What’s Holding You Back?

Hi there and welcome back to another episode!First, thank you so much for all the wonderful feedback from the last episode with the super inspiring Lisa Lemke. Much of the feedback was about Lisa’s down-to-earth approach to ‘making friends with death’ – which really resonated with so many of you. So, if you haven’t listened to it yet, here’s the link…This week I want to talk about something that happens to all of us some time. Losing momentum and feeling a bit lost.Sometimes it’s just a temporary thing, but sometimes there’s some strong underlying pull or core issue that holds us back from making our dream life a reality. So, in this episode, I’m sharing some tips & approaches I use when I need to work through what’s holding me back. Some of the key things you'll learn in this episode:My process for journaling to get unstuck. The best way I’ve found to work through things is by getting them down on paper. It can be as scrappy as you like, but there’s something about the tactile nature of putting pen to paper that I find super helpful – as I know many of you do too.How having clarity about what you want from life is always the starting point - and how to take the first to getting clarity. How reflective journaling - guided by various questions in each of your key life areas – will help you discover what it is that’s holding you back, so you can take action to move forward the way you want. I hope you enjoy this episode – and I’d LOVE to know what’s holding you back – so please let me know in our Dream Life Podcast Facebook group here or in the comments section below. Sharing with like-minded people is inspiring for us all.And as always, if you need some support – you can join my personal growth / book club GROW, my Habit Club or my online Dream Life course. Just visit www.yourdreamlifestartshere.com to learn more.I hope this episode inspires you to take action and work out what is holding you back – and that once you know – you can start working on moving past that and on to creating your dream life, whatever that means for you.I’ll be back next week with another guest so be sure you’re subscribed to the podcast, so you don’t miss.…and browse our beautiful journals here if you need a new one.Love,Dream Life Founder   SHOW NOTES:Take your first step to getting clarity on what you want from life with this free bonus dreaming exercise here 101 Dreams Audio Guide Learn more about my Personal Growth / Book Club - GROWhere.Learn more about my Habit Clubhere.Join the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Grouphere - and jump into discussions and learning with like-minded people. If you love this episode, don’t forget to subscribe for more inspiration – and please tell us what you thought by leaving us a review! Find yourself a beautiful new personalised journal here. RESOURCES:Help up spread this inspiring message to even more people by sharing our podcast on social media with the hashtag #101milliondreamers Download a review of Kristina’s Top 10 Favourite books of all timeBuy Your Dream Life Starts Here audio book, by Kristina KarlssonBuy Your Dream Life Starts Here e-book, by Kristina KarlssonShop inspiring and meaningful products at The Dream Life Store here.Follow Kristina on Instagram Follow Kristina on FacebookSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#130 - Anything is possible, with Lisa Lemke

Today marks the halfway point of 2022, so it’s a significant time to stop and think about where you’re at with your dreams and goals for 2022.It’s hard to believe that there are just 6 months left of the year. Time is flying, so be sure to take time to focus on what you want to make happen this year.I find that I need regular inspiration to keep pushing towards my dreams, and that’s exactly what I got when I had a coffee recently with a wonderful friend of mine here in Sweden, Lisa Lemke.I walked away so very inspired from our conversation that I just had to interview her for this week’s podcast, to share that inspiration with you too.Lisa is a freelance food creator, food stylist, much loved television presenter, author of 10 cookbooks, entrepreneur and co-creator of world-renowned pizzeria, Prostens Pizza among many other things. She is a wonderful human being. Full of life, love and authenticity and she has much wisdom to share.Every time I speak with Lisa I come away feeling that anything is possible… and when you join our conversation you will too. Some of the key things you'll learn in this episode:How to turn a passion into a career. How not being afraid to do new things leads you forwards. How following a passion can make you unique and help you stand out from the crowd. How great things can come when you take a leap of faith. How you can take on a view that ‘everything is possible’ when chasing a dream. To be humble and open – knowing it’s ok to be a beginner – and being ok to ask for help. How being vulnerable is a strength that can help you.The fundamental power of being yourself and being real. How you can find inspiration and valuable learnings from crisis’s when you open yourself to that. How paying attention to things we are authentically grateful for can enrich our lives. The benefits of growing a business slowly and carefully. Why your self-talk really matters.…and how valuable it is to be friends with death.Enjoy having a front row seat on our conversation and I trust it'll help inspire you to re-set for a super 2nd half of 2022.Love,Dream Life Founder  PS: Learn more about my virtual book club GROW here. SHOW NOTES:Lisa's website Lisa's world renowned pizzaria Prostens PizzaLisa talked about the power of gratitude. #129 - Reset Your Life for the Next 6 Months

Hi there and welcome back to another episode! At the time of recording it’s getting close to end of July 2022 and that means we've got 6 months to go in 2022! I can’t quite believe it.So, it’s time for a bit of a reset to make the most of 2022 - and in this episode I share some tips on how to do that.In particular, it's a great time to ask yourself the following questions - taking time to reflect and answer - and take the suggested actions:What went well the last 6 months? What were the key challenges in all the areas of your life?Am I clear on what my dreams and goals are for this year?Once you are clear on what you want to do, achieve, have or become for the next 6 months, choose your top 3 Dreams to chaseThen brainstorm everything you need to do to achieve each of these 3 dreams or goals and then choose the most important 7 actions.Make sure that at least one of the 7 actions is a WHO action – who can help or support you? Who has done what I want to do so I can learn from them? This could be learning from a person, mentor or coach but it can also be an online course, a podcast or a book.Decide on one action you will take in the next 24 hours – starting is the hardest part – so start with just one small action. Then put in the diary when you will be working on your dreams and goals – even if you are not quite sure how long things will take etc, start blocking time out in your diary to take action. One of the things that comes up for me, when I haven’t achieved what I set out to achieve, is to see what I need to read to get my inspiration back. This could be a book for a specific dream or goal – or you may want to consider reading the book we're reading in GROW – my personal growth / book club for July - The Success Principles by Jack Canfield.I love this book so much and it’s a perfect book to read for a 6 months reset.I hope you're inspired and excited to re-set your year and get moving to make the final half of 2022 the best it can be. I'll be back next week with another inspiring guest – so don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss it.Until then – dream big!Enjoy!Dream Life Founder  SHOW NOTES:Find our new Diaries here. #128 - Can Practicing Gratitude Really Make A Difference In Your Life?

Hello & welcome back!Well, we’ve all heard many times about the power and impact of practicing gratitude, BUT is it really all it’s made out to be?Can it really make the huge difference that so many people tell you it can?I have to say, that in my experience the answer is a resounding ‘yes’ and ‘yes’ and I share my experience, explain why and show you how on this weeks episode. Some of the key things you'll learn in this episode:There is such simple magic in putting pen to paper and jotting daily in a journal about what you’re grateful for - and 5 mins a day is all you need. The science is clear – there are so many benefits from being grateful.Expressing gratitude regularly is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness, improved health, better relationships and resilience thru adversity. There is always something to be grateful for and as with everything, the more you practise being grateful, the more genuinely grateful you become.Practicing gratitude journaling doesn’t mean you have pretend you’re constantly happy or have a 24/7 smile. It’s not about any sort of false positivity. It's normal for people to have a bias towards ruminating on what’s not going right in life – that’s how our brains are wired sadly - but gratitude journaling is your place and time to push that aside.Consistency is key, and to help with consistency it helps to use a journal you love – and to set a daily evening routine. Keep your gratitude journal by your bed for example and turn to it when you jump into bed.So let your gratitude journal be your daily companion and guide to cultivating a grateful mindset. Just follow along and enjoy the ride and all of the benefits that will come your way.And remember, it’s great to hear insights like the ones I’ve shared with you here, but the important thing is to move from inspiration to action - and to put your insights into practice to help transform your experience of life. So, take time to reflect on what resonates with you in this episode - and decide what actions you'll take as a result.I really urge you to try gratitude journaling for a month and see how it feels. As a very special offer to my Dream Life podcast listeners around the world, I’m giving you a promo code that you can use to take A$5 off when you buy yourself one of our new Dream Life Gratitude journals from The Dream Life Store. The code is ‘verygrateful5’ – and it’s going to be valid for 2 weeks only (from Friday 17th June 2022 to midnight AEST on 1st July 2022). Use it at checkout. Please take me up on that offer and see for yourself how amazing it can be to set yourself up with a regular gratitude practice.ENJOY!Dream Life Founder  PS: And you can learn more about practicing gratitude in my blog here... SHOW NOTES:Find our Gratitude Journal here. #127 - Improve Your Life - Track Your Daily Wins

Hello there! For over two decades I've been writing in a journal nearly daily - as many of you know. I credit my daily practice of journaling for having helped me keep a sense of wellbeing through many ups and downs. So when I find a new approach to journaling that really works amazingly well, I want to share that with the world! Which is what I've done with a brand new approach to journaling I've created and called Daily Wins (...and I've turned it into beautiful journal collection on my Dream Life Store here...).In this episode I share with you how this new approach works and how it can improve your life as it is improving mine. Some of the key things you’ll learn are:How the simple process of thinking about and writing down 3 wins you had from your day can move you from a focus on the angst of what you haven't done, to simple satisfaction with what you have. How even a simple mindset shift like this - practiced daily - can have profound psychological and productivity benefits. How combining this with jotting down 3 simple things you're grateful for each day will put a smile on your face. And how the very simple act of jotting down 3 wins you plan to make tomorrow - planting seeds in the fertile soil of you subconscious mind - can give you clarity and have you focussing on the most important things in your life. Every day.Trust me and give this style of daily journaling a go for 3 months. Yes, you’ll have days where you can’t do it or miss it. But if you can do it most nights, I promise you, it will get you closer to your dream life, whatever that means for you.To find out more, read how to journal Daily Wins style here...ENJOY!Dream Life Founder   SHOW NOTES:Checkout the Daily Wins journals I've created for you here... Learn more about my Personal Growth Club - GROW here.Join the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here - and jump into discussions and learning with like-minded people. If you love this episode, don’t forget to subscribe for more inspiration – and please tell us what you thought by leaving us a review!  RESOURCES:…please help up spread this inspiring message to even more people by sharing our podcast on social media with the hashtag #101milliondreamers Download a review of Kristina’s Top 10 Favourite books of all timeBuy Your Dream Life Starts Here audio book, by Kristina KarlssonBuy Your Dream Life Starts Here e-book, by Kristina KarlssonLearn more about my Habit Club here.Shop inspiring and meaningful products at The Dream Life Store here.Follow Kristina on Instagram Follow Kristina on FacebookBe inspired to Dream Big as Kristina takes you through her free 101 Dreams Audio Guide  My dream is to inspire and empower 101 million people around the world, just like you, to write down three dreams, and go chase them!    See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#126 - How The Impossible Is More Possible Than You Think, With Alissa Camplin-Warner

You stand at the top of the steep run-in to the massive aerial ski jump. A sea of people and the worlds press below. Breathe in. Breathe out. Here you go… You ignore the pain of the broken bones in both of your ankles. You only need 15 seconds of perfection - flipping & twisting through the air 6 meters above the icy snow - to win the Olympic gold medal you’ve dreamed of, trained for and sacrificed for… for over a decade. But you KNOW you’re in your right place and you’re ready, because you’ve visualised and prepared for this moment in minute detail - hundreds of times.Welcome to another Dream Life podcast episode! The immense and often under-estimated power of visualisation - and how to use it in your own life - is just one of the valuable take-aways for you from my truly inspiring guest in this weeks podcast.Alisa Camplin-Warner is a true hero - in every sense of the word - and the first ever female to win gold for Australia in the Winter Olympics. Her incredible story has so many real life learnings for us all as we contemplate or chase our own dreams. However big or small.I really urge you to listen carefully to this episode as I revisit one of my most popular and downloaded episodes ever. It’s so profoundly inspiring and full of everyday learnings for you. Some of the key things you’ll learn are:How Alisa pursued a big dream, without knowing IF or HOW she could do it - and how you don’t need to know IF or HOW. You just need to start. The important lesson? Don’t let not knowing HOW stop you from starting. The immense power of WHO. As in who can help me with this? Who has done before what I want to do now? How can I learn from them? How starting small and taking regular small steps forwards is the right way to achieve your dreams. How even seemingly insurmountable obstacles can be overcome if you have a strong enough ‘reason why’, a growth mindset and good people around you.How to find silver linings in the darkest clouds. The story Alisa shares of how lucky she was to break both ankles just 6 weeks before the gold medal jump is simply spine tingling amazing. How Alisa harnessed the power of her self-doubt - and how you can too. Way too often I see self-doubt stop people from living the life they deserve. Why you just have to start practising visualisation to help you achieve your goals and dreams - and how to do it.The importance of having the right people around you – who support, encourage and believe in you and your dreams. Surrounding yourself with the right people and the right community is so important. And last but not least – the power of reading and learning. Alisa is an avid reader - loves biographies - and always asks herself “if they can do it why can’t I?!”So, do yourself a big favour and make time to listen to this INCREDIBLE episode. Take notes in your journal - and ask yourself, “well, if she can why can’t I?!”ENJOY!And Dream Big for yourself!Dream Life Founder  PS: Share this episode with others to inspire them. Hi there and welcome to another episode! In this episode I’m sharing some valuable insights from a great book I’ve just read, The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan & Dr Benjamin Hardy. It’s a book we’ll be reading in GROW – my personal growth/book club in June. There really is magic in the key concept they share - how a simple mindset shift in the way we tend to think about, and measure achievement & progress, can transform our lives.Let me briefly explain…Most of us, me included, are often hard on ourselves when it comes to evaluating the progress we make against our dreams and goals. Our achievements. In particular, ambitious people often feel they’re ‘not enough’… not achieving at the rate they feel they should be… and discontent, pressured or unhappy as a result. But the authors point out that we can easily turn that around – with a simple strategy for staying positive, happy and motivated – and that the key reason for feeling that way is simple. It’s because of the way we’ve learned to measure our achievements by focussing on what we haven’t yet achieved (The Gap) – rather than on how far we’ve come (The Gain). And while the book focusses on high achievers, there really is something universal in it for everyone. Here are some of the key take outs you'll learn:How much of what we’ve learned in life leads us to be chasing new things that are out ahead of us. Like moving targets, they often seem out of reach. When we measure ourselves against that ideal we’re chasing, we’re in ‘The Gap.’How, when we make a simple adjustment to measure ourselves against our previous selves and how far we’ve progressed - the person we were when we set our goals and ideals - we focus on ‘The Gain’.Focussing on ‘The Gain’ leads us to clearly see the progress we’ve made. What we’ve achieved. How far we’ve come. Our wins. Our growth. The positive sides of achievement, that naturally bring confidence, inspiration, satisfaction - and joy!How it’s a subtle shift in approach that brings a massive shift in mindset and daily good feels! Bringing positive, powerful emotions that motivate us to keep pursuing and achieving our goals – feeling good about ourselves along the way.How the status quo is to focus heavily on what we haven’t achieved. What ‘The Gap’ is between where we are and where we want to be – and how that creates an unnecessary and heavy negative compound effect on us.How focussing on ‘The Gain’ means measuring our progress against where we started. Not comparing ourselves to others or something external - and how this has enormous psychological benefits. …and so much more. It’s really a deceptively simple yet multi-layered concept and learning more about it will have you feeling good, feeling grateful, and feeling like you’re making progress even when times are tough. If you're finding that happiness eludes you no matter how much you strive, then learning this easy mindset shift could set you on a life-changing path to greater fulfilment and success.Enjoy the episode, and if you’d like to read my blog about the book you can find it here…It’s a great book and I can’t wait to read it, discuss it in GROW and most importantly, implement what we learn. If you want to join us for GROW in June you can learn more and signup here…I’ll be back next week with another inspiring episode, so make sure you subscribe to the podcast so you don’t miss it.Until then, dream big & start practising focussing on The Gain!Love,Dream Life Founder   SHOW NOTES:The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan & Dr Benjamin HardyLearn more about my Personal Growth Club - GROW here.Join the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here - and jump into discussions and learning with like-minded people.
