56 Scared that Niching Down Will Pigeonhole You?
Do you get scared when you think about choosing just one niche? Perhaps you’re passionate about so many things that you worry that you’ll feel restricted. Or you’re like a recent client of mine that I did a Message Breakthrough with who said “I don’t want to turn away potential business by niche-ing myself.” You are not alone. It’s a super common fear. We don’t want to pigeonhole ourselves so we try to speak to everyone. In this episode, you’ll learn how, even if you have one of these fears, you can niche in a way that still feels in alignment. Because niching is the difference between being heard or being ignored. Announcements: If you’re ready to uncover what you can tweak to make your ideal clients raise their hands to pay you, grab one of my limited spots and book a Get Clarity Call. 53 How to Figure Out What You *Really* Do For Clients
If you feel like every time you tell people what you do, you’re met with a lukewarm response… or maybe you know you could help the person you’re talking to but… They. Just. Don’t. See. It… In this episode, I’ll help you find out what you really do. This will make others instantly place a higher value on your work. Because chances are, if you are anything like I used to be, you are leading with your method, not what your ideal clients really care about. And if you’re doing that, then you’re losing people you could be helping because they don’t get how you could help. Or worse, they don’t get the real value of what you do so they don’t want to pay you. 52 Overcome Fear in Front of the Camera to Connect with Your Ideal Clients w/ Linda Ugelow
I see it all the time in clients. You’ve gotten clear on your message, your point of view in the industry. Then seemingly out of nowhere, you hit a wall. Fears rear their head, you get stuck, and suddenly you’ve got all kinds of excuses to keep from pulling the trigger, from putting yourself out there and getting visible. This is something I see hold entrepreneurs back from connecting with their audience, their ideal clients, over and over again once they get clearer in their communication. To build off the episode I did last year with Marcie Mauro to find out whether you’re really stuck or if it’s fear of being seen, I brought on Confidence and Visibility Coach Linda Ugelow to help clear up all that resistance holding you back, so you can get comfortable being in front of an audience and not just get a video done but make it something you look forward to and enjoy. Announcements: If you’re struggling to communicate the value in what you do, I’ve opened up a few spots this month to chat. Book a Clarity Call here to get clear on your next steps. Are you in the Unforgettable Facebook group yet? Join us! It would make me smile BIG if you rate & review Unforgettable in iTunes. In today’s episode, you’ll learn: How to work through resistance to being seen and heard when you are recording a video or sharing a stance in your industry Why fear that comes up when you think about being visible is a GOOD thing (and why it’s – mostly – bad advice that all you need to do to get comfortable in front of your audience is to just do it) Her forgiveness practice to release the fear she had around doing periscope live broadcasts (and how to teach your inner critic how you want to be spoken to) Exercises to make being on camera feel like play rather than work AND to connect with your audience in a way that makes you feel energized and more YOU Links from the Episode: Linda’s “10 practices for overcoming fear in front of the camera” (now called “The Fear to Fabulous Blueprint: Master the Inner Game of Speaking on Stage or Camera with Confidence and Charisma”) Linda’s fabulous crowd-sourced blog post (that I contributed to!): “47 Speakers Share Their Expert Advice on Overcoming Nervousness in Front of a Crowd” Gay Hendricks “The Big Leap” Unforgettable Podcast #44: Are You Really Stuck or is it Fear of Being Seen with Marcie Mauro

51 A Life Coach Goes from Hard-to-Explain to Clear & Compelling With Christi Daniels
You know those life coaches whose work is intangible and hard to explain and find it challenging to communicate what they do in a concrete and easy to understand way? (Ahem… sound familiar?) Well Christi Daniels used to get a lot of blank stares when she talked about what she did. Nobody got or valued it until after they had worked with her. And even worse, this lack of clarity led to procrastination and inaction on what she knew she needed to do to take her business from side-hustle to supporting her full-time. The beautiful thing is that once she gained that communication clarity, it led to ease in putting together sales pages, optin bonuses, blog posts, and workshops that are aligned. Listen in to hear alllll about it! Announcements: My Be Unforgettable Bootcamp is open for enrollment! If you’re ready to clearly communicate the value in what you do and go from your clients’ best kept secret to unforgettable, find out more here. In today’s episode, you’ll learn: Why it keeps your business small when only other coaches understand what you’re saying How she bridged the woo-woo feminine life coaching side of herself with her masculine techy corporate side to bring a solid description to what she does Why clarity in communicating about herself and her business led to feeling more confident and relaxed sharing what she does – and let her really connect in an authentic way with people as an introvert Why talking through thoughts and ideas with a coach that can reflect back key insights from what she’s saying helped her find her voice and be more confidence and clear about what she wanted to share Links from the Episode: A Sabbatical From Yes – Christi’s book The Energy Matrix – Christi’s get-started tool ChristiDaniels.com Parrish Wilson – Christi’s writing coach and editor Sandra Pilarczyk’s Video Challenge Casey Erin Wood’s Video Training Episode Insights: “You can picture me standing. On one shoulder I have a deep desire to serve women and to see them strip back these layers of conditioning from society, just get back to who they’re really meant to be. On the other shoulder this big chunk of fear. Fear of being visible. It’s almost as if I’ve been playing a hide-and-seek game. I definitely have the desire to serve, the skills, the tools, the programs. I’ve really been holding myself back in a number of different ways. Partly fear of being seen. Partly not having the words to really articulate what it is I do.” – Christi Daniels “The message has turned into that solid base. I can go out and have a conversation with a potential client and have that home base to pull from or refer back to. I can write a blog post and refer back to that core message. I can do a presentation and come back to that core message. It’s the rhythm or drumbeat… It’s this constant that’s really helping me to improvise in different ways.” – Christi Daniels “I feel like I was compartmentalizing myself so I would show up as this woo, feminine, getting in touch with your inner wisdom person with my mentoring. Then in the other, VA, business then I would show up as my techy person and the two wouldn’t come together. I think that’s one hold on from my corporate days. That’s one thing that you’ve helped me do is pull more of that masculine in to help give it that solid description. Something for people to hear and to grip to. Also, helping me see to give myself permission to show up fully with both sides of myself and express it fully.” – Christi Daniels “Take a risk. Share your thoughts, your ideas. Find someone you can trust to process your business with. To process your message with. If it’s something that is holding you back… It may seem scary, but I guarantee you it’s going to be worth it, when you emerge from the other side with confidence and clarity and the missing ingredients for your business.” – Christi Daniels READ ALL THE INSIGHTS IN THE FULL TRANSCRIPT HERE. 50 Why Over-Communicating & Word Clutter Kill Sales
Clear communication is using the right words. But also about saying exactly what you want to say and nothing more. Despite my natural editing superpower which allows me to pull clarity out of others, I’ve got an inner-rambler in me. Yep. When I speak, I have a tendency to repeat the same thing multiple times, to add in extra words. And I loves me a soapbox. From experience I can tell you that rambling and over-communicating makes people less likely to buy from you. Which is why, to celebrate my 50th episode, I’m helping you avoid shooting yourself in the foot by using too many words when only a few targeted ones would be more effective! Announcement: If you’re ready to finally land on your clear, compelling message, sign up here for my free workshop “Uncover the Message that Makes Your Business Unforgettable!” I’ll see you on Wednesday February 8th 2017 at 2pm PST.
