Kimberly Olson:
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of The Goal Digger Girl. I'm so excited to be on today with you because I brought one of my new girlfriends, Sarah Torres-Ferrick. And she is going to blow your mind with the information and content she's going to share today, because I know a lot of you've been asking me the question about how to expand, how to hire, how to get some support in your business. And we're going to talk all about that and more, so welcome on Sarah. So excited to have you.
Sarah Torres-Ferrick:
Oh, thanks. I'm so excited to be here.
Kimberly Olson:
Yay. Okay, girl, so a lot of them are probably new to you. So I would love for you to bring them up to speed. Can you share with us a little bit about you who you are and what got you into the industry that you're in now?
Sarah Torres-Ferrick:
All right. So I'm a mom of two and I am an HR lady. I got into HR because I graduated with a Philosophy degree, and I'm still trying to figure out how you can do make money philosophizing. My dad was in HR, so I got an HR internship, but that was about eleven years ago. My first kind of introduction to entrepreneurship, small business was my husband. We've had a business where he's the face of the business, and I do the back end in baseball and softball instruction. And then it was about, oh, I guess two or three years ago that I kind of had that aha moment about, Hey, I don't have to just help all these small businesses with their HR. That's actually a business and everything I wasn't loving about my big job I could get from helping small businesses. So now I really focus on helping small businesses tackle kind of all that HR stuff, all that stuff about dealing with people and making sure your business is protected when you make that transition.
Kimberly Olson:
That's awesome. And I love it because you are already naturally like innovative and entrepreneurial minded because with the time of this recording, we're still in quarantine. And so many people are in brick and mortar situations or aren't online and \what you did is you just said, "okay, I'm not loving this. So how can I make this into a business?". And I feel like really anything that you guys do, like if you're nine to five or you're working, there's so many unique ways that you can make money with that. So I commend you. I think that's awesome. And what's your outlet or format for that? Do you do coaching? Do you do private clients? I know you have a podcast leading your team. I think I follow you on Instagram as well. How are you primarily helping people? Like how do you connect with your clients?
Sarah Torres-Ferrick:
So it's started doing a lot of one-on-one stuff. And right now we're in transition to kind of doing that one-to-many. So doing more templates, like we just launched an employee handbook template and we're starting up doing some coaches, sorry, some courses.

Hey Goal Digger, Kimberly Olson here. Welcome back to another episode of #getLIT, where we crush your business. And today for this podcast, I'm going to share some musings with you. Some of the things I've noticed lately with coaching clients, students we're having in our programs, messages I'm getting, and I have a feeling it's really going to resonate with you as well. So what I want to talk about is the things I'm seeing that are really holding them back, and I think this could potentially be holding you back as well. So one of the common themes I'm seeing when I'm doing social media audits, reviewing their accounts, looking at Instagram, their Facebook groups, them going live and adding new friends to their friends list is that they're not consistent. And you might go "well, yeah, that's totally me."
So this isn't to feel bad. This is to get to the root of the problem. For example, I was experiencing some money mindset blocks - the end of 2019, I had made a quarter of a million dollars. And I was like, "I don't see it. Like, where's the money, I've spent it? Or it's gone, taxes, whatever". And I was working with my coach and she said, "okay, before that thought comes up, what's before that?". And I was like, "well, what do you mean? ". So we were digging in and to see like, where did that initial thought come from? Like, what was the root of the thought? So for you, when you think about not being consistent, it's a lack of commitment to the goal. And we have to figure out where's the lack of commitment to the goal? 'Cause obviously you're committed. I see you showing up on my lives.
I see you in my trainings. I see you in my challenges. You're listening to this podcast. Like clearly you are interested in learning how to grow your business, create that financial freedom for yourself and your family, time freedom, and really changing your family tree. So I know you're committed. So if you are committed, then where does the lack of commitment come from? Well, if you have a lack of commitment, it's because you have a lack of clarity, a lack of vision. So a lack of clarity and a lack of vision means you don't see the end game. You're not painting that picture in your mind every day. So right now I'm in a coaching (one of many), I'm in a coaching program right now with Bob Proctor. And if you follow me at all on social media, I talk about this all the time, what I'm learning from him, 'cause he's a legend.
And he actually worked for Earl Nightingale, who's one of the people that I often quote, 'cause I'm just blown away about the knowledge and just life insights that these men offer.

Welcome back to another episode of The Goal Digger Girl and so excited because I have special guest Kendra Swalls on today. I hope I said your last name, right girlfriend. And she is going to blow your mind with what we're going to talk about today. So thank you for being on girl.
Kendra Swalls:
Thank you. And yes, you did say it correctly. Good job.
Kimberly Olson: Ok, good. It looks like how it sounds, right?
Kendra Swalls: Yeah, exactly.
Kimberly Olson:
I was so excited. So is your podcast "She Means Business"?"
Kendra Swalls: Girl Means Business.
Kimberly Olson:
Girl Means Business. So y'all listening, this is Kendra, the creator of Girl Means Business podcast. And so we've been able to meet each other, get to know each other. We're both here in Texas, which is kind of fun. And we were just talking a little bit about email marketing and I thought, you know what? My audience is really needing some help and direction in this.
Kimberly Olson:
They all want to do it, but they're really just like, how do I get started? So we're going to focus on that today. But since a lot of them have never, potentially, never heard of you or met you before. I would love for you to share a bit about yourself, how you got into entrepreneurship and you're a mompreneur as well.
Kendra Swalls:
Yeah, absolutely. So my journey actually started, I was an elementary school teacher. That was always my plan. Growing up I was the kid who would like line up my stuffed animals and play school. And so I just always knew like teaching was kind of in my face. I come from a family of teachers and educators and coaches and all that. So I grew up like thinking that's my path. So I went to school, got my degree in education, got a masters degree in curriculum.
Kendra Swalls:
I had this whole like roadmap planned out of the path I was gonna take in my career. I wanted to go into being a curriculum coordinator and creating content for teachers to use the classroom. And along the way my husband, who, we were just dating at the time, he had all these hobbies. So before we got married and had kids, on the weekends he was always outdoors, like fishing or hunting or playing basketball with friends. Or he had just had all these things he was doing. And I was like, I don't really have like a hobby. I don't have anything outside of my job that I really enjoy doing. And he was the one who was like, "well you like taking pictures, so why don't you learn more about photography?". So I was like, "okay, that could be fun". He bought me my first digital camera, my first DSLR. And I sort of dove into, you know, with being a teacher. I had like, you know, summers off and holiday breaks. And so I would use all that extra time to learn how to use my camera. And at the time I had a little Shih Tzu dog and that dog, I have so many pictures of him because that he was older and he would just kind of lay there. That's how I learned how to take pictures.
Kimberly Olson:
That's so fabulous, the perfect model.
Kendra Swalls:
Exactly. Yeah. And I had pictures of wine bottles and I mean, anything that would like not move, like just sit there and I'll take your picture.

118: Following Up to Close More Sales with Confidence
Following up with your prospect can be a bit scary especially if you already sent them a message and they haven’t responded. Hey, did you watch the video yet? Did you watch the video yet? Did you see the video that I sent you? This is not how you want to follow up with your prospects and it doesn't feel good. So in this episode of #getLIT, my name is Kimberly Olson, also known as The Goal Digger Girl, and I'm going to teach you how to follow up with confidence. This strategy I'm going to share with you works every single time. So most people don't follow up. And this is going to set you free. This is going to allow you to make sure that you are able to follow up with confidence and get the results that you want in your business. Stay tuned.
All right. So for this episode, we are going to talk about how to follow up with your prospects in a way that feels genuine, that feels authentic, and that you're not bothering them because let's be honest, we've all done it where we keep following up and we kind of get frantic around it. And then that's weird. Like, are they ignoring you or are they ghosting you? Or are they just busy? Right. So the thing I want you to know first off is that we actually are not great at follow up as an entrepreneur in general. Less than a third of leads are never followed up on. So a third of the people you talk to are never followed up on. Okay. So first off, you're probably not following up enough, but when you look at the way that we're going to go over right now, you can see why.
You're going to start to be like, "Oh, that's how I follow up with people!". So it's going to give you more confidence and it's going to give you the direction you need to follow up, follow up appropriately. So you want to make sure you're following up for sure, but you need a reason to follow up. I call it Permission Marketing. Seth Godin wrote a really great book with that title. And it's something I've adopted for a very long time, since I've been on social media and it's allowed me to build my business to seven figures, it's allowed me to recruit double digits every month in my business without coal messaging or spamming anyone. So if that sounds good to you, you're going to want to implement the follow up method. So with the follow up method, we want a reason to follow up first off.
So let's say you do chat with Susan and you're in your whole process.,you sent her the video. By the way, you never want to stop with the third party tool and the video and say, "did you watch the video? Did you watch the video?". No, we're just going to keep that train moving. Okay. So let's say we connect with Susan in a Facebook group. Susan wants to know more about how the heck are you making money on social media? Like she doesn't get it. She has no idea, she's kind of intrigued, never heard of it.

Kimberly Olson: Hello. Welcome back to another episode of The Goal Digger Girl. My name is Kimberly Olson, your hostess, and I have a special guest here. Kae. Is it Fuglaar? Is that how to say it?
Kae Fuglaar: Fuglaar. Yes. Very hard.
Kimberly Olson: Yeah. Well, hey, we got it. It's all good. Awesome. And I'll put your name in this description so you guys can see it in the podcast. So I have Kae on today. Welcome, Kae. We're so excited to have you!
Kae Fuglaar: Hi, Kimberly! Thank you so much. I'm excited to be here.
Kimberly Olson: Yeah. This will be a really great discussion. It'll be refreshing for those of you that have followed me for some time. My podcast is generally very tactical. So talking about, you know, how to grow a Facebook group or how to get your Instagram, rocket, which is all awesome and fun, but I think it's also important to have deeper discussions and bring people on the show like you, who this is what your jam is. This is what you love to do is have those honest conversations. So to start, since you may be new to my listeners, do you mind sharing a little bit about who you are and what you do?
Kae Fuglaar: Yeah, absolutely. So my name is Kae. I am a wife. I am a mom of two toddlers. So all the prayer. I still am in the corporate world right now. Obviously, the dream is to be out of that. But right now, I am in the corporate world, as a property manager, I have a lot going on, but my loves is I have a podcast it's called "Talk With the Kae" where I am bringing all the real conversations. And I also, we actually just launched a nonprofit to fight human trafficking. So that's been amazing and crazy and just a love/passion project that we are so excited about. I also actually interned for another company.
Kae Fuglaar: I am responsible for like the customer service. So that's been incredible. So there's a lot going on, but my loves, like my passions are the podcast. And obviously now this nonprofit, and of course being a wife and a mom, those are just the best of the best.
Kimberly Olson: And very, very demanding.
Kae Fuglaar: Yes, very.
Kimberly Olson: It's balancing everything that I'm sure you're getting really good at. 'Cause you sound like me, you have a lot of different things going on at one time, so that's awesome. Okay, cool. So I would love to know a bit more about the nonprofit 'cause I had a chance to be on your podcast.

Hey Goal Digger. Welcome back for another episode of The Goal Digger Girl podcast. This is Kimberly Olsen, your hostess with the mostess, and I'm excited to come to you today to talk about your power, giving up your power. Are you giving your power up? How can you take back control of your life? If you're feeling like everything's a little crazy right now, I'm with you. I understand. And I'm going to pass along what has worked for me. Okay. So, you know, with everything that's going on globally, uncertainty is rampant, right? Feeling like this expectation of what things should be like, and then they're not can really derail you mentally, emotionally, even getting out of certain habits because your gym's closed and you can't work out that way. So you start gaining weight because you're not exercising, right? Like all these different things can be impacted by that.
So I'm going to share with you what has worked for me. When everything happened with the pandemic, I had a day where I was like, "Oh my gosh this is really scary". You know, to think that something out of nowhere can just throw us off all into quarantine. You know? And I was a little nervous about my business because we'd been growing so fast and had a lot of success, but I thought "who's going to spend money on coaching and programs and want to join a network marketing team right now?". Like it was very uncertain. However, the next day I thought, no, I have a choice right now. How can I take back my power? What I'm going to do is I'm going to be the light. I'm going to train my heart out. I'm gonna release new things.
I'm going to have the best program in the market. I'm going to be the obvious solution for people who go, all right, I can't build belly to belly anymore. My brick and mortar business is not available, that's not an option right now. So I'm going to have to learn social media. I'm going to have to learn organic audience building. I'm going to have to learn how to show up genuine, authentically. I'm going to have to learn how to not cold message and spam. Right? And I wanted to be that person that was the obvious solution for people. So I had a choice. So it allowed me to pivot. It allowed me to put out great, amazing content. And honestly, we've 10Xed our business since then. So we started off the first quarter, I mean, I think we did in the first quarter, what we did all of last year in revenue. But it allowed me to step up and step up my game, step up the team that I work with, my coaches, everything we were pouring into our students, the content I was producing, just to really level up.
So you're giving up your power.

Kimberly Olson: Welcome back for another episode of The Goal Digger Girl. And for this podcast interview, I have special guest, Erin Pollinger, and I'm so excited to have her and I'm gonna make sure I pronounce that correctly, but Erin welcome. And we're so excited. Did I say your last name right? Cause I guessed.
Erin Pollinger: Yep. You got it, that's right.
Kimberly Olson: Yay! Okay. So I'm so excited to be able to connect with you and bring you on today because just the little bit I've gotten to know you, we have so much in common. I know my Goal Diggers are going to eat you up with a spoon and they're going to want to know more about you. So to start, let's bring them up to speed. Can you share a little bit about yourself and what got you into Network Marketing?
Erin Pollinger: Absolutely. So, I'm a chiropractor. This is actually my 21st year as a chiropractor. My whole jam is helping people feel more life in their bodies and, of course, in life as a result of feeling more energy moving through them. So Chiropractor/Life Coach, supporting women around physical and financial freedom, I own and run a retreat center in Costa Rica. I'm a mama of a beautiful 19 year old girl named Willow, and I am the lead female earner and the third top earner in my Network Marketing company. So I've been a part of that company for about three and a half years and how I got involved - I turned 40 about five years ago, I'm 45 and that was a big border for me, one in which I really paused and looked at my life and asked myself the question, "what do I really want for the rest of my life?".
Erin Pollinger: At that point, being a Chiropractor, life coach, retreat center owner, successful in life and knowing that I can create whatever it is I desire. I asked myself the question, well, "if I can have whatever I want, what do I want and how do I want to serve and how do I want to show up"? And I realized I didn't want to be attached to an office anymore. As much as I love being a chiropractor, I didn't want to work hours for dollars. I wanted more freedom to be at my retreat center in Costa Rica. I love traveling. So I wanted to travel. My daughter was about two years off and going to college and I knew that was going to be a big opening for me to kind of live whatever life I chose. And so, and I really wanted to serve in a much bigger way and touch more lives and have much, much bigger impact and make a lot more money because I'm not afraid to talk about money.
Erin Pollinger: I love the money conversation. Cause money is just energy. It's just energy. It's like, that's all it is. And when we have more money, we have more energy to be who we are and to give our gifts back to others in service. So I just started asking, how am I meant to do this? And you know, meditating every day and just listening and asking. And about two years after that prayer, I got introduced to my company and couldn't believe it was network marketing.

All right, Goal Diggers! So for this episode of The Goal Digger Girl, we're going to talk about how to dominate your day like a boss. If you talk to the most successful people, they all have some sort of routine that they follow. Now, this isn't routine meaning, "okay from five to seven I do my miracle morning and from seven to four..." - I just don't think that's realistic. Even though some people have the freedoms to maybe run their day that way. But most of you listening to this, you are busy. You have a lot going on. And the problem that I think people are running into is that they don't have a set schedule. They can't just say, "I'm going to do this and this and this". Now the first thing I would challenge you on is, is that true?
Right? Could you do some time blocking? Could you say, "okay, from this hour, this time to this time, I'm going to carve out an hour to work on my business or 30 minutes to follow up with my leads"? Okay. Yes. You could potentially use something like that. I'm a huge fan of time blocking and I run my CA everything runs off of my Google calendar. Everything does. If people ask me, "Oh, hey, can you hop on the phone later today?". I'm like, "well, no, I cannot because everything is scheduled out down to 15 minutes, including time to work out, time with my family". It's kind of crazy. But it's allowed me to make sure I have a good work life balance. I'm able to shut my business off, be with my family for a big part of the day, and be able to be very focused in and conscious of money making activities.
So when I look at my calendar, I can see, okay, cool. I've got content I'm putting out. I've got stuff for my team. I have really impactful things, such as podcasts, interviews, things that I can do to expand my reach and get in front of more people. So I've got three ideas for you today. The first one is how to dominate your day like a boss is I want you to get your mindset, right? You know, there's so many times when people sit down to maybe put some content out, post on social media, maybe create a story, or even try to get the courage to go live. And they talk themselves right out of it. Right. And you know what I'm talking about? You're like, okay, I'm going to do this post about, it's going to be a vulnerable post, maybe something I'm struggling with and you talk yourself out of it.
And you're just some little idea in your head says, no, that's silly. Or you can go live tomorrow. That's what I was faced with when I first started, because I was working full time and working crazy hours and there's just no time for anything. And I would say, okay, I'm going to go live. And it would be like super late. And I'd say, Oh, this is bad time. No one's going to be on right now, go tomorrow. And then I had to train myself to say, no, that's a limiting belief. I'm going to go now. Most people are replay viewers. This is when I can go. It's better to go now than not at all, because let's face it tomorrow never comes. If you keep putting it off before you know it, you've looked up and it's been six months and you haven't gone live, is that true or not true?

All right, Goal Diggers for this episode of The Goal Digger Girl, we're going to talk about the best algorithm hacks for 2020. If you don't know what an algorithm is, if you don't know how to get your account rockin', if you're posting and praying, you're getting crickets. You're just like, "I don't know what I'm doing", then this episode is for you. Okay. So first off, let's talk about what algorithm is because I find when I teach on this, a lot of people have no clue. So I want you to think of algorithm as a rating that your account has. I'm specifically going to talk about Facebook right now, but you can use this for Instagram, you can use it for TikTok. At the time of this recording, we've been working on an algorithm on my Pinterest account and just got to 450,000 monthly visitor views. We're blowing up my Pinterest by implementing these amazing algorithm hacks.
So it's a little bit different on that platform, but the principles apply. So you can use this for anything. So algorithm is the rating that your account has. So Facebook, for example, has little bots that are just constantly checking things out, deciding if your post is good, deciding if it should show it to your newsfeed. Is the content you're sharing original? Is it relevant? All of those things come into play. And when you are consistently showing up, which is what we're going to talk about, when you are starting to understand how to engage with your audience, how to create content that people actually want. Your algorithm is going to go through the roof. So if you're new on Facebook and you're just getting started, your algorithm rating's going to be pretty low. No one really knows what the algorithms are by the way, it's proprietary. And of course, Facebook's not gonna' let anyone know about that.
But let's say it's a scale zero to 100, when you're new you're gonna' have a really low number, but as time goes on that algorithm's gonna' climb up. So have you ever gone onto your Facebook and you're just always seeing the same people in your stories? They have a strong algorithm. Or you're always seeing certain people in your posts first? They have a strong algorithm. And it can also impact your suggested friends list. So as your algorithm grows, you'll be the one that's suggested to others as friends. This is how you'll know your algorithms on-point. One day, if you're consistent following what I'm gonna teach you right now, you're going to pull up your phone in the morning and you're going to have 50, a hundred friend requests overnight. And you're going to think, "Oh my gosh, did somebody hack into my account?".

Exactly what did I do to be able to recruit over 50 people in less than four months in my network marketing business and on top of that, getting to a million dollars in revenue this year with my brand? I mean, that's a lot of stuff going on, right? That's a lot of moving pieces and a big part of this, the last three months at the time of this recording, we've been in quarantine, right? With the economy taking a hit, people are concerned, there's a lot of fear, but my business has grown. So I think this is really going to help you if you're stuck, or if you are wondering, "what are people doing to recruit a lot of people?", let's talk about it. Okay. So the first thing I would tell you is when I really started picking up in my recruiting, where people started coming to me like last year alone, I recruited over a hundred people and I started thinking, "what is it about the way I'm building my business?".
I'm not messaging people. I'm not cold messaging. I'm not doing the, you know, look at their posts for three days and then reach out. And there's nothing wrong with that, but I'm not doing that. So I was like, "okay, what is it?". Of course my marketing mind always wants to know. So what I did is I started looking back at conversations that I'd had with these people. And I saw that at some point in time, I had mentored them. So the first thing I would say to you is, are you mentoring? Are you pouring into people? Are you offering value? You know, and I think I am in a unique situation because I do have a personal brand. I've monetized my brand at 15 streams of income, now, that I don't need my network marketing business to grow, I don't need to recruit people to be able to take care of my family.
Right. It kind of shifts the energy. So when I'm on social media, I'm offering value like this. I'm putting content out there and doing videos. I'm doing posts that are engaging, entertaining, connecting with my audience, sharing with them what's going on in my family. I do it because I know that my job is to make people feel better when they, when they connect with me. Right? So if they come to my profile on Facebook or Instagram or in my stories, I want to make their day better. I want them to be glad that they came to hang out with me for a second on social media. So the first thing I would say to you is how are you showing up on social media? Are you doing the you post once in a while and hoping people reach out, are you spamming people? Are you doing the stop, go, stop, go? Or maybe one day you reach out to 20 people and then you don't reach out to anyone for three weeks.
