Poppy Delbridge | Taking risks, the nonsense of manifesting and a sprinkling of quantum physics.

When it comes to alternative therapy I am, by nature and also from years of working as a journalist in the health, beauty and wellness space, a cynic. For years, I’d get drawn into to fads and trends by their razzle-dazzle and now, to avoid this, I like to see proof in the shape of data, clinical trials and evidence. So you may be surprised to see Poppy Delbridge, aka The Tapping Queen, as a guest on the show. Tapping is a form of therapy that involves tapping your face and upper body to release stress, minimise trauma and ‘raise your emotional baseline’. But, despite sounding ‘woo woo’ has a raft of evidence from neuroscience, and psychology that proves the claims around its benefits. This podcast is about learning from my guests' life lessons and given how integral tapping has been to Poppy, in times of trauma, change and flux, it was a fascinating insight into Poppy and how she has dealt with life’s challenges.Poppy’s book Tapping In is available now.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Bullet Points | New beginnings, life affirming lunches and a little humble pie.

I told you that you'd be punching the air after listening to Lauren Mahon's episode and based on your feedback, it's clear you loved what she had to say, especially about how she's far less risk-averse on the other side of cancer. This week has been a busy week but I made time for lunch with my good friends Noella Gabriel and Rosie Green and my abs still genuinely hurt from laughing. If I give you one tip today it's to put lunch in the diary with someone you love. And finally, I share some other conversations I have coming up and what you can expect from the next episode with Poppy Delbridge. To join the Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Lauren Mahon | Moving on after trauma, living life to the fullest and being the Kathy Burke of cancer.

To know Lauren Mahon is to love her. It’s as simple as that. And considering everything she’s been through in the last few years, she’s also a huge inspiration.Diagnosed with breast cancer at 31, she was the host of the hugely successful podcast You, Me and the Big C with her friends Rachel Bland and Dame Deborah James who have both since died. Lauren, on the other hand, has been in remission for over five years.I didn’t want this conversation to be about two huge, defining traumas; her cancer and losing her close friends and I’m so glad because we recorded this episode at a time when Lauren has never felt more hopeful and excited about the future.Though this podcast is about my guests sharing the life lessons they’ve learned from going through the tougher stuff in life, and how they’ve come out the other side, that doesn’t mean we have to plumb the darkest depths - and as you’ll hear in this conversation, there’s a lot of light and love!I challenge you to finish this episode and not a) love Lauren but also want b) to punch the air and potentially c) feel as though you can take over the world. To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Jim Down | The Truth about Covid-19, the emotional toll of working on the frontline and how to save your mental health.

I love creating this podcast for many reasons but chief among them is the opportunity it affords me to speak to people with whom I might not necessarily cross paths in my every day. This has never been more true than with Jim Down, a consultant in critical care and anaesthesia at University College London Hospitals who was frontline during the Covid-19 pandemic, attended to former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko when he was poisoned with Polonium-210 in 2006 and was one of the first on the scene of the Hatfield train disaster. This show is about hearing how my guests have navigated the more challenging parts of life and come out the other side, and Jim’s stories and learnings are extraordinary. His openness about his own mental health and the challenges he’s had to overcome as a result of the cumulative stress of life in hospital wards, intensive care units and high-stress situations is levelling, to say the least.Jim is also extremely open, warm and thoughtful, and as you’d perhaps expect from someone who has to make life-or-death decisions, shows real compassion. Even as someone who saw the impact of the Covid-19 virus, he makes efforts to understand the people who now say it was a hoax, which feels extraordinarily magnanimous when you hear what he saw, first-hand in 2020.Life in the Balance and Life Support are available to order now.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Dean Piper | The 'murky' world of celebrity journalism, moral epiphanies and lessons learned from walking away from the most glamorous job in journalism.

Dean Piper! I can't lie, I enjoyed this conversation with Dean immensely and actually found it to be an incredibly cathartic experience too. Dean and I were both 'celebrity journalists' at a time when celebrity journalism was called-in to editors via brick phones and gathered on the dancefloor at nightclubs or in the loos at award ceremonies. It was the era of celebrity weddings, showbiz couples with portmanteau nicknames and when daily sales of newspapers and magazines running showbiz gossip ran into the millions. However, while it was fun for a while, about ten years ago Dean turned his back on 'that life'. In fact, he didn't just turn on his heel, he walked out with no job to go to, no plan and no idea what the future would hold. This conversation details why Dean has never looked back, why he felt it was time to leave and how disappointed he is that in the ten years since he left, celebrity journalism has become so murky and destructive. We discuss some of his biggest regrets while working on tabloids, how he got some of his juiciest scoops back in the day and what happens, and who stops calling when you walk away from the most powerful job in showbiz. If you enjoy Dean's insights here then you'll love his Substack where he's writing a weekly column about his life in showbiz. Estée Lalonde | Learning from her mistakes, the highs and lows of starting a business and soft-launching her relationship online.

I'm so glad to welcome Estée Lalonde back to the podcast, especially as this conversation coincides with some exciting developments in her professional and personal life. There's her body care brand Mirror Water and a new relationship...Her career is a truly incredible one: she followed her boyfriend to London, became a part of the beauty blogging community and has gone on to make her social media and Youtube a wildly successful business. She has shared her life with millions of followers and as she evolves from influencer to businesswoman, she's opening up about the highs and lows of taking huge risks, knowing what you want from life, people and relationships and why you have to advocate for yourself.I've known Estée for a few years now and I always come away from time spent with her feeling better for having seen the world through her eyes and, I'm just going to say it, I think this might be the best conversation I've had with her in the time we've known each other.Estée is always honest, real and straight-talking so hearing her share her life lessons with no filter whatsoever was a real eye-opener. I learned a lot and I hope you do too!To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey!
