Bullet Points | A cure for Jet Lag and why it's time to get outside...

I can't lie to you, the jet lag coming back from LA this time was truly brutal but it did allow me to watch The Night Agent on Netflix in one sitting...Being awake when I wanted to be asleep reminded me of the shows previously where we've discussed the benefits of getting up at the same time every day, getting outside and in sunlight and more, so I'm revisiting it in this episode. To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Priya Joi | Surviving being 'othered' and why nothing should scare you.

How is your relationship to risk impacted by being a science journalist who is at the frontline of breaking stories like Ebola, HIV and, of course, Covid-19? That’s something I wanted to unpick with Priya Joi, who writes for New Scientist and the World Health Organisation, during our conversation.Priya’s life lessons are informed by a period of chronic fatigue in her 20s that left her housebound and wondering if she’d ever be able to travel or live the life she loved, again.Priya’s rational and compassionate view of life and what it throws at you is a real pleasure to listen to.Priya’s book Motherland is available now. Dr Sam Bunting | The Power of Beauty and Mental Health

Dr Sam Bunting has been a familiar face on the beauty scene for some time. A cosmetic dermatologist who now has her own skincare line Dr Sam’s, Sam wanted to bridge the gap between medical dermatology and beauty. But as one of my go-to skincare experts, in my role as a beauty journalist, I’ve also learned that Sam understands the emotional stress of ‘bad skin’. We both suffered terribly from teenage acne and know all too well how much it can impact confidence and one’s sense of self. It’s these conversations I’ve had with Sam over the years that have led to broader, more deep and meaningful conversations about life, love and much more, which is why I was curious to hear the life lessons she’s learned, the challenges she’s had to overcome and how, as someone who can feel as though the world gets a little too much at times, she copes with the lows as well as the highs.Dr Sam’s is available now.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Bullet Points | The Power of Decluttering

Is a good clear-out good for your mental health? And, if so, where do you even begin? This is something I ponder in this episode and it takes us all the way back to 2018 when I did a massive wardrobe edit as part of the #26Habits series. It wasn't just about a leaner wardrobe, it also revealed some other completely unexpected benefits that have stayed with me nearly five years later. Bullet Points | Gwyneth's Diet backlash, inequality in the workplace and being honest about binge eating.

Why are we so judgemental about what and how other people eat? I mention it in this episode of Bullet Points after the backlash Gwyneth Paltrow received recently for talking through her daily diet. Now, whether her diet is nutritionally sound or not isn't really the point, it's the reaction to it that's piqued my interest and I'd love to know what you think...Also in this episode, your feedback on my conversation with Dr Sabrina Cohen-Hatton and a look ahead to a deeply personal episode I recorded with no guest, just you and me.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Dr Sabrina Cohen-Hatton | Breaking the glass ceiling, getting off the streets and redefining what it means to be a woman in power.

One of the great privileges of creating this podcast is getting to see the world through the lens of other people’s experiences. Seeing the world through Sabrina’s eyes was utterly enthralling. She experienced homelessness in her teens, now holds one of the most senior positions in the Fire Brigade and has multiple qualifications making her an expert leading international expert on risk-critical decision-making in crises.I ask all my guests, ‘What’s your relationship like with risk?’ and as someone whose day job involves dealing with something as unpredictable as fire, Sabrina’s answers are a perspective I hadn’t heard before. What an incredible guest, and now friend, whose primary mission in life is to pay it forward.Sabrina’s book The Gender Bias is available now.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Bullet Points | The Disease to Please, Caroline Hirons newness and deconstructing gender bias.

Well, it seems like a lot of us are people-pleasers and I'm so glad my conversation with Anna Mathur was a balm for those of you who have felt exhausted and depleted by always doing for others. If this conversation was helpful you may also enjoy my chat with narcissism expert Dr Ramani Durvasula. This week I'm sharing some of the best beauty products to have come across my desk recently, plus I share a teaser from my conversation with Dr Sabrina Cohen-Hatton who holds one of the most senior positions in the UK fire service and has written about gender bias in her latest book.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey! Anna Mathur | Overcoming people-pleasing, finding yourself and how to ask for help.

One thing about interviewing psychotherapists is how tempting it can be to open up about the things that I am personally struggling with, or have struggled with. It’s not something I intended to do but in navigating Anna Mathur’s life lessons we stumbled upon the territory of people pleasing and, well, that was it.Both of us have found ourselves crippled by the effects of people pleasing and these have shown up in Anna’s life in ways that have had a huge impact. I always open the show by asking my guests what their relationship with risk is like and it’s interesting that a big risk for Anna, and me, was to put ourselves first. If you’re afflicted with the disease to please then this episode is definitely for you.Anna’s books are available now.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Hey!
