046 Dr. John Gray: ADHD, Brain Health, & Sex Addiction

Is your brain holding you back from stepping into your personal power?    Today, we are talking with Dr. John Gray about natural solutions for ADHD, memory, and brain performance. (including depression and how we show up in our relationships). This conversation also goes to some profound places, including our discussion near the end of the show on how internet pornography is negatively affecting men’s brains like never before. Staying Focused In A Hyper World John's newest book, "Staying Focused In A Hyper World" focuses on practical information to increase brain focus, memory and restore love and passion in your life and relationships. Men Are From Mars Women Are From Venus John’s most famous book, MEN ARE FROM MARS, WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS, is the number one selling, non-fiction book of all time and the most trusted voice in relationships today.   He is the author of 17 books, including The New York Times #1 Best-Selling Book of the last decade, MEN ARE FROM MARS, WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS. His 17 books have sold over 50 million copies in 50 different languages around the world.   For more than 35 years, John Gray has conducted public and private seminars for thousands of participants. John has made guest appearances on Oprah, Dr. Oz, Good Morning America, The Today Show, The CBS Morning Show, Larry King Live, CNN and countless more.  Listen Now As John Uncovers What causes ADHD in the brain What is the biggest obstacle for optimal brain performance How to recognize if an adult has ADHD How adult ADHD causes a lack of commitment in men How ADHD lowers sex drive How Tylenol and Acetaminophen can cause ADHD How internet pronography is rewiring the brain to block love and connection  Shocking Facts About ADHD One out of ten American children have been diagnosed with ADHD, One out of seven American women over 55 will develop dementia, One out of nine American students seriously contemplate suicide every year Statistics reveal a greater risk of ADHD in children of divorced parents, particularly when boys are missing the regular influence of their fathers or their mothers are unable to find happiness The Hero's Journey John's story is powerful beyond words. From his site, we find an incredible hero's journey through thresholds of being celibate for 9 years while traveling with the Maharishi Mahesh, sleeping on a beach homeless with two college degrees, to becoming the most sought after relationship expert in the world and writing the best selling book of all time. More from John's story page below: "In 1978, John’s brother asked him for help from a mental hospital. His brother had suffered from bipolar disorder and he was struggling to find happiness. John had encouraged meditation for him in the past but it did not help. So John left the Transcendental Meditation movement and Maharishi and returned to the United States to try to help his brother get out of depression. John ended up in Los Angeles, California hoping to find the cure for his brother’s bipolar disorder. Los Angeles had become a hot bed of new therapies like Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Neuro-linguistic programming, Hypnosis, Scientology, Primal Scream, EST, insight Seminars, Rebirthing and Loving Relationship Trainings. But first he had to find a place to sleep. John was homeless and living primarily on a beach in Santa Monica. He spent his days at part time jobs and reading psychology books in the public library. “I had 2 degrees but not much work experience on my resume. I was good at meditating for hours, teaching yoga and living simply with peace of mind,“ remembers John, "But those things couldn't pay all the bills back then." Every couple days, John saved enough money for a hotel room where he could take a shower and sleep in a bed. But most nights were spent on the beach. John recalls one night sitting by a fire on the beach with a dozen other homeless men, trying to teach them about God and their true purpose in life. “They said to me, ‘John, we love listening to you, but we have no idea what you’re talking about.’ I knew I was in the wrong place and need to move on. This was definitely not my audience,” recalls John......" Fortunately, Angela was raised by loving and encouraging parents, so that at home, she never felt any different than others. With this love and encouragement as a backdrop, she grew to learn how to have empathy for others by becoming kinder to herself.  Angela says, “You can be your own best friend or your worst enemy. Remind yourself constantly of how amazing you are." She suggests putting up “I AM” signs everywhere, so you're reminded to be the best version of yourself every day. Listen As Angela Uncovers How moms can understand what their kids need, and that you don’t have to be a nutritionist to lead them into health and wellness. The need to ask the right questions and understanding exactly what is happening to your body Looking within and knowing that wellness is a process; you can’t achieve optimum health in one day Being specific about what you want to happen with your life, in terms of health and wellness Helping moms de-stress and reconnect with their authentic self Don't Get Fancy Angela suggests working on meeting basic nutrition and hydration. You don’t need to be a nutritionist or a chef to deliver the best care for the ones you love. All is you need to do is understand what your body needs and how it reacts to the things you feed it. Think of long-term goals because truth be told, wellness is a process. As Angela puts it, you can’t expect to lose weight all of a sudden if you eat a single apple today. It takes time and effort and patience - and of course, consistency. Wellness Is Happiness Being grateful is the key to unlocking a life of wellness. Angela states you'll know you’ve achieved wellness when there is a vibrant energy that flows through you. You don’t have to be the richest, the fanciest, or the best - you just have to be at peace and at home with who you are and what you have. Moms have the most difficult time dealing with this; especially because of societal pressure - and Angela wants to remind all mothers out there that you are not alone and that you have support.  Links From Today's Show Angela's Website iamangelamartindale.com Ultimate Transformation by Angela Martindale mealsthattransform.com Meals That Transform Facebook page Angela's Twitter: @angelamartindal Angela's YouTube Angela's Instagram: @angela_martindale Angela's LinkedIn Angela's Pinterest Grab Your Free Book www.wellnessforce.com/FreeBook You May Also Like These Episodes A Personal Trainer For Your Mind With Julianna Raye Healthy, Happy & Harder To Kill w/ Steph Gaudreau of Stupid Easy Paleo Beyond Meditation: How To Get A Better Brain With Ariel Garten Living A Healthy Lifestyle In A Modern World With Dan Pardi  Creating A Life Worth Living With Michael Strasner Get More Wellness In Your Life: Download your free Digital Health Transformation Guide: wellnessforce.com/radio Don't miss next week's show: Subscribe and stay updated Did you like this show? Rate and review Wellness Force on iTunes So nice!  You read all the way to the bottom? 043 Chef Lance Roll: The Healing Powers of Bone Broth

On this episode we're diving deep into the broth of edu-tastement! Chef Lance Roll takes us through a journey about the story behind the healing powers of bone broth and how it has been revolutionizing the health and wellness industry for the past couple of years. Heal, With Bone Broth! The Flavor Chef, Lance Roll, has been cooking professionally for 25 years. His career started in 1998 when he joined the team with Chef Mark Strausman at Sapore Di Mare in New York. He spent 2.5 years there learning classical European cooking principals and Tuscan Cuisine. Heal Your Gut, Heal Your Immune System Armed with the knowledge of the body’s natural healing capacity and being a lifelong student of food, Chef Lance Roll comes in and brings us why and how bone broth aids in repairing our bodies and leading us toward holistic health and wellness. He stands firmly behind bone broth as he himself has gone through an amazing transition, going through his personal path of healing his own health issues. Listen As Chef Lance Uncovers The healing transition he went through after he discovered the power of bone broth Being Paul Chek’s student and personal chef His favorite books from health and wellness experts who swear by the healing properties of bone broth How bone broth can actually reduce protein intake for people Organic, grass-fed animals where bone broth should be taken from and the process it takes to get certified His morning routine, which I also do - and you should also be doing! The Bone Broth Process Chicken soup and bone broth isn’t just good for the soul: there’s a reason that it’s prescribed by doctors and mothers alike when you’re feeling under the weather. All bone broths: beef, chicken, fish, lamb and more are staples in the traditional diets of every culture because bone broths are nutrient-dense, easy to digest, rich in flavor and–they boost the body’s ability to heal. Chef Lance Roll takes us through the process by which bone broth is made, and how long the certain process takes. Bone broth can be done at home or obtained from external sources - but we have to make sure we get them from certified organic suppliers and that the animals were treated without cruelty. B.R.O.T.H.: Blessed Return Of Traditional Healing Your body doesn’t recognize chemicals; it recognizes food. Chef Lance is a big believer in using food as a healing modality, and he talks about how our bodies don’t really react to the chemicals in the things we eat. He goes back to the traditional way of cooking - prep it, cook it, eat it. There is an emphasis here on the importance of authentic food - food that can actually be recognized by the body, and therefore can be digested and used for healing and repair.  Links From Today's Show bonebroth.com Head on over to the shop and use the code WFR10 to get 10% off on your first purchase Nourishing Broth by Kaayla T. 042 Scott Colby: The Power To Change

Scott Colby, also known as the fitness industry's "Abs Expert" is a fitness coach, entrepreneur, and the host to the Power To Change podcast. Scott brings on the most inspirational stories from people who have transformed their minds, bodies and lives to find out what gives people the power to overcome obstacles and make changes so they can live with more passion and purpose. With a background in medical research, Scott had ample knowledge of the way our bodies work, making his transition into health and fitness an easy one. He has helped numerous people with his accountability groups and coaching programs - and he’s not about to stop just yet. WHY ACCOUNTABILITY MATTERS Growing up, Scott always had a problem with his body image and was the kind of guy who refused to take off his shirt at the pool or beach. He just didn’t feel good about it. Over time, he realized it was important to create a change and embrace that change. But stating a goal is different from actually doing it and having someone take a look at it - not because of the need for validation, but because one needs to be pushed toward the direction he needs to take. Sometimes, we are our own worst enemy and that’s what accountability is for. To motivate us to reach the end goal. Scott emphasized that end goals should be for the purpose of giving yourself a pat on the back and complimenting yourself for a job well done - it is not for the affirmation. LISTEN AS SCOTT TALKS ABOUT His biochemical engineering education and previous work with medical research; he was featured in journals such as Spine and Gait and Posture How he conceptualized and materialized the Her Strength Dallas Bootcamp Words that we should take out of our vocabulary to enhance our mindset The three habits he does to ensure wellness, both in body and mind Having the ultimate power of choice! The Gratitude Challenge There are those times when we feel lost and almost incapable of getting up. Scott Colby reminds us to get up and be grateful - even for the smallest and most trivial things. Anchoring our gratitude to something we are already doing helps in reminding us to express it. Still having a tough time? Write down the things you are grateful for for 7 straight days! You may just pick up a habit. Getting Fit For Photos Through Gratitude And Accountability In his community, he has his members write down the things they are grateful for. You wouldn’t believe what he found out! Not only did the members enjoy writing down their gratitude, but they enjoyed reading others’ list more! He says it’s like a glimpse into other people’s lives! 041 Dr. Andrew Hill: Unlocking Our Best Self Through Nootropics

What long term positive effects can nootropics give to our busy lives? Can new breakthroughs in cognitive neuroscience help us attain the focused state of attention to meet the demands of our busy modern world? Andrew Hill, PhD, is a lecturer, scientist, explorer, and also the lead neuroscientist at TruBrain. Today on the show, Dr. Hill and I discuss everything from frontal lobes to biofeedback, and more.  Focused Attention Improving focus and efficiency is the greatest weapon for ambitious people looking to accomplish more. In today’s connected 24/7 world, clocking more hours in the office no longer provides the same unique advantage that it used to. To become more efficient, you first need to understand your equation for productivity. This equation starts with the human brain and how your brainwave states dictate your output. Because we measure brainwaves, we can actually quantify what happens in the brain when someone is in a focused state. Want more focus? 039 Josh Trent: Using New Technology To Let Go of Old Weight

On today's show, we're flipping the tables where I'm interviewed by JJ Flizanes on Wellness Force Radio where we discuss how to use new wellness technology in our busy modern lives to drive better results and breakthrough old (and sometimes even longstanding) weight and performance plateaus. Using New Technology To Let Go of Old Weight  After attending #CES2016 in Las Vegas this month, it couldn't be more clear that when it comes to how wellness and fitness technology will help people through increased accountability, 2016 is the year we will all look back on and remember as a major turning point. The current global market for wellness and fitness wearables is growing faster than expected. A recent study published by Forrester research shows one out of every five Americans now uses a wearable device. President Barack Obama has even adopted the connected fitness lifestyle by proudly donning the Fitbit SURGE fitness watch in press photos while walking in the White House garden. But when it comes to these exciting new technologies giving us new tools to fight against poor health, obesity, and sedentary living, one powerful question surfaces: Who exactly are you and what are you trying to do? Why Busy Moms Need More Than Just A Personal Trainer The days of a busy parent couldn't be more full. Learn More: Wellness Force Digital Health Coaching Group Starts 2/15  Companies around the world know this, and in turn, have been hard at work creating products in the health and wellness industry that are changing the game of balancing family, fitness, and responsibility with more ease for moms and dads.  In the past 100 years, men, women and children alike have all grown accustomed to using the tools yielded by rapidly growing technology around the pain point of wanting to be more and do more with and for the people they love. Since the early 1900's, and especially since the advent of personal computing, the law of accelerating returns has proven to drive consumers not only to use machines and circuits to produce more economically, but also connect in ways never dreamed possible. Now, in 2016 and the age of mass distractions and helicopter parenting, wearable and wellness technology are giving moms a fighting chance to stay on top of how they show up for their family by first tracking how the show up for themselves. Wellness Tools Fitbit – The dominant fitness tracker manufacturer is a four billion dollar company out of San Francisco named Fitbit. As the global leader of wearable devices, Fitbit has changed course in 2016 to point more towards the . Beyond simply counting steps, distance, heart rate and the number of hours slept, they are now positioning insights for corporate wellness programs to offer much more detailed and insightful analysis of activity and health. Muse – As mindfulness and meditation both continue to grow in scientific efficacy for both stress reduction and lowering cortisol, people using quantified meditation devices like the Muse brain-sensing headband now have a way to encourage and track stress reduction practices for sustainable behavior change.
