The sign of Jesus' Birth

The shepherds were given a "sign" by the Angel in order to know that the Saviour, Christ the Lord, was born. "You shall find the Infant wrapped in swaddling clothes who lays in a manger" (Lk 2:12), said the Angel. The Evangelist says also that when the shepherds arrived to Bethlehem found "Mary and Joseph and the Infant laying in the manger" (Lk 2:16). Only seeing through the presence of Mary and Joseph the revelation of the Baby becomes clear. The shepherds 'saw' first of all the virginity of Mary and the way Joseph was adoring the Baby. Then they were able to understand the sign and adore themselves Jesus the Lord. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Holy Innocents and the Christian battle

The Holy Innocents that we celebrate after Christmas are a striking witness to Christ's birth and to His presence in the world. As soon as Christ was born the hatred of Satan and his allays triggered. The hatred for truth and life was born as well. The Holy Infants, martyred by Herod out of hatred for Christ, testified Jesus with no word but by silently dying for Him. It is a blood Baptism. That disposition that found them ready to give their lives up for Christ, since they could not oppose any resistance, should be also our interior but conscious disposition to live for Christ and be ready to witness to His presence. Our Lady's Virginity as the 'form' of Christianity

The perpetual Virginity of Mary is a dogma of Faith, unfortunately put into discussion so many times in these recent years. The catastrophic effect of this attempt to obscure it in order to also overcome the modern taboo of chastity is a general identity crisis that affects the whole Church. Mary's Virginity is the form of Christianity because She has moulded in her womb Christ and with Him also the Mystical Body. There is a hierarchy to respect: first Christ's virginity with Mary's, then religious consecrated life, celibacy and widowhood, and finally marriage. Mary's Virginity set the example of sponsality with the Lord and of martyrdom - two key aspects of early Christianity. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Sacrifice of Our Lady and the Mass

We now concentrate ourselves on the role of Our Lady in the Holy Mass. Since She contributed uniquely to offer up to God the sacrifice of our salvation - Christ her Son and herself in her Son, in the memorial of the Mass is represented also what She did for us. There is a sacrifice of Mary as the New Eve beside the New Adam contributing to the salvation of mankind. This her cooperation is inscribed in the living memorial of the Mass. At each Holy Mass we hear again those solemn words: "son behold your Mother", and "Mother behold your son." Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Sacrifice and Our Lady in the Holy Mass

A recap of the notion of 'sacrifice' as to make something sacred for God, so as to recognise His supreme Majesty and adore Him. We too need to be set apart by being detached from profanity. Sacrifice needs a con-secration and transubstantiation. Can we say that the very active person at the foot of the Cross is not John the Apostle but Mary Coredemptrix? Our Lady set the highest example of an intimate-active participation in the sacrifice of Calvary. Therefore, She plays a unique role in the Holy Mass. Hosted on Acast. How to Actively Participate in the Mass

We wish to deepen the discussion on the active participation. When do we really participate actively in the Mass? This can be addressed correctly if we deal also with another important question: how can we transform our life in the mystery that we celebrate, treasuring the very central notion of 'sacrifice'? Only through the sacrifice of Christ we become partakers of His. To be 'active' in the Mass is not about doing something on a pragmatic level, but to know how to become we too an offering of sweet odour, pleasing unto God. Hosted on Acast. The Mass is the Passion and Death of Christ

We meditate upon the spirituality of the Holy Mass as the re-presentation of Jesus Passion and Death. The Holy Mass begins precisely when Jesus leaves the upper room where he instituted the Holy Eucharist and goes fourth towards his Passion, starting with the agony in the garden. Now the mystery signified in the Holy Eucharist begins to be celebrated as Jesus suffers and consummated as Jesus dies for us. His Body is so given up and His Blood poured out for us. The Mystery of the Holy Mass

We look in this catechesis at the mystery of the Holy Mass as we focus on the Mass in itself as a 're-presentation' (i.e. to make it present) of the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ on Calvary. Then we concentrate ourselves on the Holy Mass as a way to be Christians by living out that 'memorial' in our daily lives. We should always abide in that memorial. Hosted on Acast. Sacrifice as the Source of Christian Life

Father Serafino introduces the topic of the Holy Mass. We have to become what we celebrate. The Holy Mass is the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross made for our Redemption. From this Sacrifice - 'sacrum facere', to make something sacred, set apart for God, we can understand also the notion of "Banquet" and the correct meaning of "Holy Communion" that derive from it.
