Movie "The Giver" - Commentary by David Hoffmeister - Movie Workshop from the "Holy Relationship" online retreatProjection is the attempt to get rid of something you don't want by seeing it somewhere else. So it's seeing the anger, envy, and jealousy in the world of form as if people are angry and envious and jealous. BUT, it's a big trick to see in the world what you don't want to face in your mind. It's quite an ingenious trick. And yet this world is the result of projection. Projection doesn't work. When you try to see something that you don't want in your mind as if it's in the world, you're keeping it in your mind. You're not forgiving it and releasing it. You're seeing it as if it's outside of you. But there is nothing outside. I can tell you right now that's the ultimate realization of spiritual awakenings. There's nothing outside of you. You're it. You're the whole. And there's nothing outside of the whole. Spiritual awakening is so much associated with isolation and meditation and do-it-yourself spiritual awakening, and then with the Course, Jesus gave us a pathway of Holy Relationships. I think deep down, we're all yearning for deep relationships and deep intimacy because we are yearning for that feeling of letting our hearts be filled with love. We want to give love and receive love, feel safe, feel transparent, and not hold up some kind of mask. Movie "Violet" - Commentary by David Hoffmeister - Weekly Online Movie Workshop.Many have very dark experiences in childhood and during their teen years and early adulthood, where they have a lot of reflections and witnesses of guilt and shame, of blame, of criticism, and of all kinds of judgments. And for those of us who have come through that route, we know how stressful, fear, and guilt-ridden it can seem when that self-critical voice, that's just doubting you all the time, speaks to you. For those of us on the spiritual journey, we know that our whole purpose is to transcend that voice of the ego and learn to tune in to the voice of the Spirit, the voice of intuition. As Course in Miracles students, we could say it's Jesus or the Holy Spirit. Jesus is an example for us of one who heard only one voice. So he told us in the bible, Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. Meaning I have overcome the voice that made the world. I have overcome the ego. And I now know that light is all that there is and that our nature is love. The Kingdom of Heaven is real. It's so real that nothing real can be threatened, and nothing unreal exists. So this beautiful, intuitive voice teaches us and reminds us all the time that who we are is his light, his pure Spirit. Movie "Bruce Almighty"- Commentary by David Hoffmeister - Weekly Online Movie WorkshopI was thinking back through my 35 years of working with the course identifying which prayers have I prayed in my heart the most? And the first one, I think, is one you might relate to. It's called "Help." The simpler, the better, and the Holy Spirit is aware of that prayer for help. I think the second one, right behind "Help," is "make it obvious." That's my second favorite. Considering we're in this fog of forgetfulness which is a kind of sleep, I can't think of anything more helpful than just crying out for help when you need it or saying "make it obvious" because "make it obvious" is a prayer for guidance. Even if I can't hear your voice, you can still "make it obvious" to me in my nighttime dreams, "make it obvious" with signs and symbols, "make it obvious" with music on the radio, "make it obvious" with the birds and with people. The movie "Chances Are" - Commentary by David Hoffmeister - Weekly Online Movie WorkshopJesus knows that the mind that believes in separation is freakin scared of light. So scared of God that there had to be a plan that would be a more gentle awakening. He's not going to hurl anyone into the light. Instead, we gradually embrace the light. We gradually open to the light as the darkness fades, and we sort of fade back into heaven. Isn't that nice? Don't you like that the Holy Spirit is gentle? Everyone's asking how the world will end? The world will end in laughter, re-translated. Closing Session - Vision of the New World - Tabula Rasa January 2022 Online Retreat with David Hoffmeister and Frances XuWe need to be taught innocence as little children because we are brought up with the ego's way of adding meaning to and sorting out the reasons and purposes of the world. It wants us to take sides of what is good and what is bad, and it wants us to keep asking ourselves to make decisions in the world based on who the ego tells us to be. This is where all the chaos comes from. The split mind tries to project a world in which it makes sense to align with the perceived good side and reject the bad side as if there is meaning in such a world. We have to unlock all of it based on guidance from the spirit, like in little children where everything is miraculous. Everything is perfect. No bad guys, no good guys, no sides. Just innocence and trust in that we are taken care of. That is our way of learning how to perceive the new world. Movie 'Eagle Eye' Commentary by David Hoffmeister - Online Movie WorkshopJesus gave us a movie today where he's giving us the nuts and bolts of how to have peace of mind. It's called listen and follow. Everyone who comes to planet earth and to time and space believes that they can have an autonomous personal will apart from Gods, but what does that mean? It means that it can have an experience other than perfect supreme happiness, other than total bliss, eternal life, and eternal bliss. So that's good to know. Right? When I was a teenager, I used to be afraid of God's will. I was like, what is that? And Jesus taught me; it's simply perfect happiness. Calm down. Don't get all bent out of shape about God's will. It's not about which country should invade which country and who's right and who's wrong. No, no. In fact, free will doesn't have anything to do with choice. Free will is just a perfect eternal state of mind, one with God. Opening Session - Tabula Rasa January 2022 Online Retreat with David Hoffmeister and Frances XuOur topic for this month's retreat is 'Vision for a New World,' and Jesus is quite specific with his choice of words, so when he talks about Vision, he's not talking about it in the way that most human beings speak of Vision and a new world. He's not talking about the Vision that the ego has associated with the body and its Vision for a better world.What he means by Vision is always in the present moment. There is no such thing as a future vision for Jesus. He states that the world that you perceive through your five senses must be denied because it's costing you the sight of another world. A world that you experience in your mind. So you can see how radical this is. And he's teaching us in the course that our true Vision, the Vision of Christ, is not perceptual, so we don't have to try to figure out a better-looking world, isn't that good? So we can let go of trying to manifest a better world in the future.
