Movie "Family Man" Commentary by David Hoffmeister - Weekly Online Movie Workshop When we approach forgiveness, often, we think we need to forgive ourselves as persons or forgive other people. But what Jesus is asking us to do here on Christmas Day is, he wants us to recognize that we have a perceptual problem. Like in the 12 step program, I have to admit that I have a human perception addiction and that it is blocking the light for who I really am because God created me as pure spirit. I've misperceived my identity as being tiny when I'm vast. I'm so vast that I can't even be contained in time and space. I'm so vast I'm an eternal creation of God. And that's what we're going to pray to the Holy Spirit and Jesus today to show us that we are divine spirit. God's will for us is perfect happiness. That's our problem. We've been trying to get it right in time and space and thinking we know what right is in time and space. That's a problem. How can you accept the correction for a problem if you think you already know what the problem is? And if you're sure it's a financial problem or an interpersonal relationship problem or that we have a pollution problem, a pandemic problem, or an overpopulation problem, fill in the blank. Any stressful situation is trying to define the problem in terms of form. But Jesus and the Holy Spirit are telling us. It's not in form the problem is. The form is a reflection of what you believe. You think you're something other than the Holy Christ. That's the problem. Assuming you have an identity apart from God's perfect love and light. Thank you for showing me the way to love and light and how to remember eternity in the face of this very mesmerizing dream of time and space that seems so real. But with this, you keep reminding me I'm safe at home in heaven and just dreaming of exile. I can't exile from God. It's not possible. I can believe it, but I can't make it so. So in eternity, we are determined that we want God, and that is never going to change. But the problem is that because we're confused, we want the opposite as well. That's where the mind is split. That's where the experience is divided, and that's why there are miracles and even joy, but also so many other emotions that come from the desire for the opposite. So really, the whole journey is a purification towards a mind where the spirit is our only desire. Spirit is truly who we are. That is where once we identify ourselves with only that, that's where Christ is born again. The movie "No Sleep 'Til Christmas" - ACIM Movie Workshop with David Hoffmeister - Tabula Rasa December Online RetreatNobody likes to be told of their flaws. Nobody likes to be told what's wrong with them. People like to hear good news. They want to listen to the good things. That's how the ego thrives. Jesus is like, well, that's okay. But actually, both the positive and negative attributes are made up by the ego because all of them are shadows. The positive judgments are light shadows. And the negative judgments are dark shadows. But shadows are shadows and not the light. Why would you settle for light shadows? Why would you take a little bit of shade when you're pure love and light? That is what we're going for. We have to learn to be guided and come into a state of mind that transcends doubt and transcends all things that my brothers point out to me. So when your brothers and your sisters are pointing things out to you, they're just acting out thoughts and beliefs that you still hold about yourself in time and space. So actually, that's why Jesus says only full appreciation and gratitude is an appropriate response to your brothers and sisters. One's prayer is everyone's prayer because there's really only one of us. And that's what we're being convinced of, that everything I perceive through my mind is my mind. So I'm always looking at a motion picture of my mind, and I'm always feeling a state of mind that is for myself and the entire world, and that's pretty huge. Jesus says there is no world apart from what you think, and then he goes so far as to say there is no world period. So that gives you an idea of how deep the hallucination is. So first of all, if I'm seeing something that's not even there, that's a predicament. And then if I'm categorizing and judging this thing that's not even there and feeling all bent out of shape with all kinds of emotions, about this hallucination that's not even there, I need to start to be practical and learn to listen to the guidance and be intuitive. If you can experience this today, your life will be the most joyful, happy, vibrant life, beyond anything you can imagine, because when you can meet your brother without the past, you meet in the present moment where truth is found. In the Bible, Jesus says, take the stranger in. It doesn't mean you should be inviting people off the street to live in your house. It's another way of saying take the strange ego belief system into the light of your heart, and it will disappear, and you'll realize that there is only love. There has always only been love. Movie 'Life or Something Like It' - Commentary by David Hoffmeister - Weekly Online Movie WorkshopDropping the mask and facing the fear of intimacy is the first voted theme for the movie today, and yes, we're ready for that one. Sometimes we think of the mask as our persona, our personality self. Still, Jesus would say, well, it's dropping your identification with the personality self, the persona, but really it's the whole world you perceive. The whole cosmos of time and space is your mask. Your personal mask is just a tiny part of it. So he would say; actually, it's like a big cosmic fig leaf covering your mind, hiding it in time and space, trying to deny your eternal reality as a perfect creation of God, as perfect spirit. So we need help. We're talking about more than a big fig leaf here; we're asking for the veil of time and space to be lifted from our awareness that we may go directly to the light. But the mind that made your personality self is the mind that believes in the ego, and the ego is the sponsor of all magic. So basically, as we go through the day, that's magic when we swipe a credit card or make an Apple Pay. So if somebody from the 14th century came and watched you pay with Apple Pay and got goods and services making a flick with a card, he would go, Oh, he is a wizard. But for the trick to be believed as real, the magician relies on trust and belief. When you put your trust and faith and belief in illusions, then we're into the realm of magic. A synonym for a magician is an illusionist, and believe it or not, all 7 billion people in the world are part of an illusion. In one sense, who you believe you are in this world is a great illusionist. Except for the part that you believe the illusion is real.
