Detoxing 101: The Basics and Why You May Need One (feat Josh Macin)
#141: “We are not supposed to be sick, weak, tired and fragile at the ages of 40, 50 and 60. We need to stop giving consent to aging and disease.” - Josh Macin, The Detox Dudes Josh was on his way to becoming a world class master in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2010 he won the World Championships as a white belt. In 2012 he won the Pan American Championship as a blue belt. He went on to win the Abu Dhabi trials as a purple belt. When all of a sudden, within a period of 10 days, he went from elite athlete to suffering severe panic attacks, crippling depression and suicidal thoughts…seemingly out of nowhere. For the next 4 years, Josh lived in a chronic state of fear, physical torture and mental anguish as he desperately sought…unsuccessfully…the source of his suffering. Josh was days away from taking his own life – which he’d planned to do via starvation by walking off alone in the Amazon jungle – when he experienced a divine intervention. He read the unassuming story of a woman who’d healed similar suffering by doing a heavy metals detox after learning she had mercury poisoning. Turns out, Josh too had mercury poisoning. And finding the root of his problem was the difference between life and death. Fortunately, most of us will never have to endure the trauma and extreme suffering that Josh went through. But many of us know what it’s like to deal with low energy, indigestion, excess gas, fatigue after meals, interrupted sleep, body aches and brain fog. Many of these life conditions that we’ve simply accepted – or as Josh calls, giving consent to – should not be a part of our normal operating existence. We deserve to feel good. To feel great, actually. Not just some of the time…but most of the time. One potential way to achieve that state of well-being, is through detox. In Today’s Episode: You’ll hear about Josh’s story of how we can spend weeks, months and even years suffering from an affliction whose source we can’t pinpoint How our life’s wounds – both physical and emotional – that go unhealed, make us magnets for illness Why Josh says “tap water is out of the question” and you need to buy a water distiller right now (which I did) What experiences that you may be having that make you a prime candidate for a detox What benefits you can expect from a detox How you can achieve virtual fart free living Stick around for the last 15 minutes because Josh gives you 3 potential first steps you can take to get on the detox journey Who is Josh Macin? He runs The Detox Dudes His YouTube channel has over 33,000 subscribers and his videos have been viewed over 2.3 million times “How to clear your sinuses naturally.” “How to heal leaky gut.” “How to recover from ejaculation.” “Watch me do a perfect coffee enema.” He works with two types of people: High performers and CEOs looking for an edge and 2) those who are suffering from a chronic illness that has no easily identifiable source RESOURCES Josh’s website and articles: www.TheDetoxDudes.com Josh’s Masterclass: www.DetoxDudes.com Josh’s YouTube Channel: The Detox Dudes The 5 Day Detox: Click Here Josh’s 3 Suggestions for Newbie Detox-ers: #1. How to Guide, Not Control, Your Thoughts (DQ Solo)
#140: “Every man is what he is because of the dominating thoughts which he permits to occupy his mind.” -- Napoleon Hill I love this quote from Napoleon Hill because it highlights 2 truths: Your thoughts create your reality You have the authority to choose which thoughts will dominate your mind Here are 3 important things I needed to learn in order to effectively choose my thoughts: #1. Your mind produces thoughts the way your heart produces beats*. In other words, they come automatically. According to some very well-respected neuroscientists (like Dr. Joe Dispenza), you produce between 50,000-70,000 thoughts a day. You cannot stop your thoughts from coming. You can only decide what to do with them once they’re there, such as: Which ones you give attention to Which ones you give further energy Which ones you subtract energy from *Meditation teacher Emily Fletcher taught me this one. #2. A belief is a thought you keep thinking*. It’s as simple as this: Think something long enough, and you’ll come to believe it. *Abraham Hicks taught me this one. #3. Guide, don’t control, your thoughts. Being controlled by my thoughts made me miserable. Trying to control my thoughts made me equally miserable. After learning I produce 70,000 thoughts a day, I gave up my futile attempts to control. Instead, I learned how to guide my thoughts: The art of taking a thought and bringing it the most empowering place. In today’s episode, I’ll teach you the art of how to guide, not control, your thoughts. -DQ PS – If you’re continuing your anti-racist inner work as I am, I’d like to recommend this YouTube video Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man. 3 Questions to Upgrade Your Sex Life (DQ Solo)
#139: On Monday, we gave you an intro to Tantra with a podcast titled: Tantra 101: A Man’s Intro Guide (feat. Krystal Tantric Yogi). Today, we’re continuing the inner work on sexuality by digging into and unleashing your best sexual self. Here are 3 questions from The Erotic Mind by Dr. Jack Morin, perhaps the most important book on sexuality I’ve read to date: You’re not aroused…what would you call upon to most likely arouse you? Think back to your earliest sexual memory…what were the circumstances surrounding this experience of arousal, what did you learn, and what did you carry with you? What are your peak sexual experiences? “[Abraham] Maslow saw peak sexual experiences as crucial sources of clean and uncontaminated data about who we are and might become.” Jack Morin, The Erotic Mind A Great Man creates environments where he and those he cares about can thrive. That also goes for sexual environments. In today’s episode, I unpack my own answers to these questions and reveal how these 3 questions have opened new doors of sexual exploration and pleasure. -DQ PS – Don’t forget to follow our Tantra expert from Monday’s episode: Follow @Krystal_TantricYogi

2 Ways to Beat Overwhelm (DQ Solo)
#137: Last year we published an episode called 5 Ways Men Lose Credibility with Women. Out of 100+ episodes, this still remains in our top 10 most downloaded. For that episode, we interviewed Madelyn Moon, a coach and leader of women who synthesized her community’s experiences to construct the top-5 list. Here’s one of the most powerful ways men lose credibility with not only women, but our families and businesses as well: Lack of integrity with what we can and cannot handle. In other words, a man who gets overwhelmed. An overwhelmed man is not sexy. An overwhelmed man is not an inspiring leader. An overwhelmed man is not a confidence inducing presence in the household. Here’s something critical to understand: The Great Man Within You doesn’t get overwhelmed. He’s perfectly attuned to what he can and cannot handle. When you feel overwhelmed, he’s the man to consult. He will tell you to focus on 2 ways to beat overwhelm: Pruning: Cutting away the unwanted or superfluous to make room for growth Aligning: Seeing the connection points – vs. the separation – between all things Dive into today’s episode – 2 Ways to Beat Overwhelm – for a deeper look on how to prune and align your way out of overwhelm. -DQ PS - Support Black Owned Businesses: I just bought a set of 4 mini potted succulent plants from The Nice Plant for $59.99. A Great Man's Definition of Success (DQ SOLO)
#136: One of my favorite shows over the last 5 years is Billions. Bobby Axelrod (brilliantly played by Damien Lewis), is a multi billionaire hedge fund titan and one of the lead characters in the series. He’s a ruthless self-proclaimed “carnivorous monster” who will break laws and burn cities… …so long as he wins. And Bobby wins…a lot. But when he wins…its almost exclusively at the expense of something or someone else. Like a parasite, Bobby only gets bigger by consuming, destroying or pillaging to feed his own appetite. As a TV show character Bobby Axelrod is fascinating. As a human being in real life, he’d be a deplorable threat to society. And yet, there are plenty of mini real-life Bobby Axelrods running around, capturing the admiration of others… …primarily because of how narrowly we define “success.” Shows like Billions get me thinking: Why is our definition of success so narrow? Why do we celebrate coaches who win, but treat players like disposable widgets? Why do we celebrate a business magnate who ignores his family? Why do we celebrate financial success when it comes at the expense of health? In today’s episode I dive deeper into these questions… …and provide a new definition of success, worthy of a Great Man.

A Great Man Savors Conflict
#135: When it comes to men and conflict, I typically see two conditioned responses: Avoid Lose Their Shit Neither of which are becoming of a Great Man. The Avoidants lose all sense of their boundaries, because they have none. They have difficulty identifying what they stand for...because they’ve never truly stood up for anything. They typically end up exhausted and cynical from a lifetime of biting their tongue and eating shit. On the other hand, the guys who lose their shit leave a path of destruction in their wake. They create an environment of fear They bully others to suppress their true feelings A Great Man savors conflict. He doesn’t see it as a threat to his existence, his masculinity or how he looks. He recognizes conflict as: A powerful source for personal growth For forging deep, trusting bonds with others For finding his ultimate source of power and purpose. In this Episode: 3 reasons why men avoid conflict Why you want to build conflict stamina How men’s brains rely on a different emotional system than women’s brains during conflict Why in men, the brain’s response to anger can produce feelings of pleasure because of the hormones that are released How to know which battles to fight and which to let go 3 powerful payoffs of learning how to savor conflict Resources Mentioned: The Male Brain by Dr. Louanne Brizendine Sacred Hoops by Phil Jackson 2 Reasons Why Your Man Hates Conflict by Shaunti Feldhahn Why Fighting is Necessary in Relationships by Jordan Peterson (YouTube Video)

How to Change an Adversary's Mind (DQ Solo)
#134: Daryl Davis is a black man who has influenced over 200 KKK members to relinquish their robes and hoods. If this is not evidence of a Superpower, I don’t know what is. Last year I sat down with Daryl for 3 hours to learn how he changed so many extremists’ minds. If you desire to influence people in your life who don’t readily agree with you… …this episode is choc-full of powerful insights and practical steps you can implement in your most difficult conversations right now. -DQ Here are 5 essential elements of Daryl Davis’ approach: #1: CURIOSITY. “How can you hate me if you don’t even know me?” This is the question that Daryl leads his life with. When he sits down with a Klansmen, he leads with curiosity (not anger, not judgment, nor is he looking to catch them in a “gotcha” moment.). Curiosity - a genuine desire to understand the other person. #2. COMMON GROUND. Daryl disarms his adversaries by finding some way to shrink the perceived distance between them. He often uses love of music or history as a way to bridge the gap. #3. COMPASSION: As he learns more about the person sitting across from him, he inevitably sees the roots - life experiences, pain, suffering, etc - of where this person formed their belief system. He doesn’t have to like it, but his understanding of it allows for a compassion (which furthers a connection that both can feel). #4. KNOWLEDGE. Daryl knows more about the KKK and its history than most of it’s members. He’s read every book, knows every organizational structure and geographic setup, and knows their political strategy inside and out. In a strange sense, his adversaries feel respected by the efforts he’s gone through to understand them. #5. CHIPPING AWAY AT CERTAINTY. His adversaries cling to their belief systems because they are certain they are right. As Daryl learns more, he questions more, and his adversaries (who now have a semblance of respect for Daryl amidst their hatred) start to question their rigid beliefs...which gives way to a deeper, two-way dialogue. Over time...Daryl has found that extraordinary change is possible. 2 Ways to Become a Mentally Tougher Man (DQ Solo)
#133: By mental toughness I mean: Your ability to maintain your power in the worst of moments. Your ability to navigate uncomfortable and uncertain terrain clarity and focus Your ability to avoid collapsing (distracting, numbing, medicating, rationalizing, withdrawing) when things get tough. Back in September, I gave you 5 physical practices to become a mentally tougher man. Here are two more non-physical ways: #1. The Ability to Hold Paradox “The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.” Scott Fitzgerald Our world is so polarized today that very few have developed the ability to function when faced with someone who disagrees with them. The man who can hold his worldview, while fully considering another, is the man who will help us build a better normal. #2. The Ability to Embrace Interconnectedness “Lakota Warriors had a deep reverence for the mysteries of life. That’s where their power and sense of freedom came from. To the Lakota, everything was sacred, even their enemy, because of their belief in the interconnectedness of life.” Phil Jackson, Sacred Hoops Too many men operate in the bubbles of their own little worlds, refusing to or incapable of acknowledging that how they behave has a ripple effect that spans far beyond what they can see with their own eye. This allows men to rationalize bad behavior or what they perceive to be “no big deal” offenses that do in fact carry an impact. If an event in Wuhan can bring the entire world to its knees, we must acknowledge our vast potential to impact communities far beyond our own little worlds. Today’s episode digs much deeper into each of these two categories… …in an effort to continue refining your mental toughness.

How to Build Racial Stamina
#132: Meaningful conversations about race require lots of: Time Energy Emotions 3 things almost everyone is short of in modern society. That’s why it’s so important to build racial stamina: Racial Stamina is the ability to talk openly, constructively and civilly about race. If more Great Men developed racial stamina, it’s my belief that the anger, hatred and the polarization of our world… …would give way to equality, connection and prosperity like we’ve never seen before. I invite you to join me and Bryan in the gym today… …so we can work on our racial stamina. In this episode: Defining white privilege Why the term white privilege is not an attack on whiteness or you personally How you can use white privilege to do significant good…if you understand it The process our men’s group went through to diversify an all white men’s group.
