What is the difference between Book Insights episodes and Book Lounge episodes?
Book Insights are formal, structured summary, analysis and exploration of a bestselling nonfiction book. Each episode is read by a professional voice actor and will introduce a new title selected specifically for its value to your work and life. Book Lounge episodes are casual discussions about the book, the author, and anything else that comes along through the course of conversation. It’s more of a broad chat about how the book relates to current, everyday life.
Should I listen to both the Book Insight and the Book Lounge episode on the same book?
Sure! Each episode works fine as a standalone piece, so no requirement to listen to both or to listen in any particular order, but we definitely recommend (and think you’ll enjoy!) both. Think of it like reading a book and liking it so much you want to chat about it on the porch with a friend. That is the vibe at the Book Lounge.

Stephen Covey's Timeless Advice | Book Insights on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
*It’s been said that, in the United States, the influence of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is second only to the Bible.
*Not only is it listed as core reading for employees in many Fortune 500 companies, but even former US Presidents Clinton and Obama have recommended it.
*Sales now exceed 25 million copies, and it was the first non-fiction book to sell a million copies in audio format.
*Covey provides a masterful synthesis of what he argues are simply ‘natural laws’, timeless and universal principles that are the foundations of effectiveness.
*Understanding these principles and following them with integrity, by way of Covey’s series of seven habits, leads the way to fulfillment and success.

Startup Success - Simplified! | Book Insights on The Lean Startup by Eric Ries
*Eric Ries’ The Lean Startup brilliantly articulates the incremental, iterative approach to innovation, which provides a reality check on ego-driven ideas that might look good on paper but just won’t fly.
*As all great entrepreneurs know, business success comes from a curious mix of blue-sky thinking and a love of feedback and data.
*The lean approach helps new ventures launch products and services that users and customers actually want, in a way that’s far more nimble, much cheaper, and less risky than traditional methods.
*At the same time, other business and technology trends are breaking down the barriers to startup formation – the combination of all these forces is fundamentally altering the entrepreneurial landscape.

Unleash Your Inner Badass | Book Insights on You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
*When it comes to self-help, Jen Sincero has been there, read that, and got multiple T-shirts.
*You are a Badass is her effort to distill everything she learnt during years of attending motivational seminars and devouring self-help tomes, mercifully sparing her readers all the cheesiness.
*This sassy brand of positivity may sound very different to classics of the genre – it’s out with hugging your inner child, and in with something harder edged, bolder and badder – but the essential message isn’t a million miles away.
*Being a badass is not about being mean or selfish, it’s about embracing the knowledge that you are truly loved by the universe as you are.
*So be yourself. Some will like you, some won’t. What have you got to lose?

Depression's Underlying Cause | Book Insight on Lost Connections by Johann Hari
*Prompted by his own experience of living with depression and the escalating levels of depression and anxiety across the Western world, Johann Hari set out on a three-year investigation, interviewing experts and sufferers the world over.
*He questions the conventional wisdom about depression – essentially that it’s all in our heads, caused by an imbalance in our brain chemistry – and the efficacy of antidepressants.
*Looking outside our heads, rather than within, Hari argues, we can identify an alternative source for the rise in mental-health issues: disconnection from truly rewarding work, from other people, from meaningful values to live by, and even from the natural world.
*To improve our mental health, we need to seek connections – renewing links with others, finding fulfilling work, building better cultural values and tapping into our spiritual sides.
*In short, better mental health is a society-wide effort, rather than a matter confined to doctor and patient.

Why EQ Matters More Than IQ | Book Insights on Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Travis Bradberry & Jean Greaves
*In their number one New York Times bestseller, Bradberry and Greaves lay out the four key skills that – once adopted – will exponentially enhance your emotional intelligence.
*The authors conducted extensive research into emotional intelligence, interviewing over half a million people in order to identify the traits that underpin high ‘EQ’.
*In today's fast-paced world of competitive workplaces and turbulent economic conditions, each of us is searching for effective tools that can help us to manage, adapt, and strike out ahead of the pack.
*It’s not hard to make the case that EQ is equally – if not more – important than cognitive intelligence, measured as IQ. But unlike cognitive ability, your EQ can be actively improved over the course of a lifetime. Infinitely practical, Emotional Intelligence 2.0 delivers expert advice for increasing your EQ to enable you to achieve your fullest potential.
