No Sanity Stories | A Faithful Church in the Wake of Trauma
In today’s episode, Brody sits down with Courtney Seifert, a current Snowbird staff member. Courtney shares her story of how the Lord preserved her in the midst of her family collapsing. She shares the collateral damage and consequences that resulted from her Dad’s past sins. The Lord graciously placed a local church body in her life to lean on and encourage her throughout the hardships. The church was there to remind her that she was not alone. As Christians, we can look at all the suffering in our lives and know that the Lord is working all those things for our good and His glory. Listen to hear about the Lord’s constant presence throughout Courtney’s life and how we can learn to love those around us who are also experiencing trauma or lingering effects of someone’s sin. P.S. Living Lives of Balance
It’s important to recognize and have conversations about our nation's dark past. Instead of erasing history we need to remember it and learn from it. In this episode Brody discusses the balance of remembering the sins of our nation while recognizing God’s sovereignty in it. As a nation, we’ve got a long way to go, but we’ve also come a long way. This world needs Jesus. Let’s remember the milestones in our history while having a Gospel perspective towards our future. The Gospel is the only hope for all people.Resources:"We The People" by Paul HarveyIsaiah P.S. If you liked this episode, we’d love to hear your feedback! A Parent's Role in Their Child's Faith (Ft. Moses's Salvation Story)
In this episode, Brody celebrates the recent salvation of his youngest son, Moses! Their family has been praying for years that Mo would come to understand His need for the Gospel. Parents, don’t think your kids are too young to understand the Gospel. However, we also need to be careful not to nudge our children to make a decision they don’t understand yet. In light of all this Brody discusses a parents role in their child’s faith. Samuel is an example of a young believer who increased in wisdom and knowledge despite his youth. Shepherd your children into a knowledge of God by teaching them the commandments of Scripture. Jesus also calls children to follow Him. Let’s raise our sons and daughters in a manner that is Gospel saturated and points them to Jesus. Resources:1 Samuel1 Samuel 3Luke 2Deuteronomy 6Isaiah 39:7John 8P.S. Submitting to the Authority of Scripture
When culture changes, do we change with it? Do we adapt the Bible to fit the fleeting trends of society? No, as believers, we conform only to the image of Jesus and we hold to the consistency of Scripture. We hold to principles and values that the world doesn’t. In this episode, Brody looks at the authority of Scripture and how it pertains to our lives. God is not capable of lying, so He’s not capable of error. We know that the Word of God is true because God is true. Scripture reflects and reveals the attributes of God as we know them and gives definition to them. It is full of stories and commands that show us how to live our lives. We need the Word of God everyday. We need to approach it with a heart of humility and submission, not one of argument or rebellion. It deals with the eternal condition of our souls, and we are to be mastered by it. The History of the World Through the Lens of Redemption
In this episode, Brody walks through the ways God has moved from the beginning of time to bring about His plan of salvation for all people. Despite their near constant rebellion, God chose to do this through the nation of Israel. Through this people group, He would bless all of the Earth. God was moving through their suffering, through their peace, all for the purpose of bringing salvation to the brokenness of the world. God isn’t just God to the Israelites. We have a new covenant through which Jesus provides salvation for all nations. The early disciples did their part in this by working to fulfill the Great Commission. No matter what is going on in the world, the Gospel will never be quenched. It will endure no matter what. Resources & LinksDaniel 2Acts 18We're thankful you're listing to No Sanity Required! No Sanity Stories | Salvation of a Buddhist Monk
In this episode, Brody talks with Jonathan Ballou, a missionary who serves in Thailand with his family. They discuss church planting, the importance of language learning, and following the leadership of the Holy Spirit in ministry. Jonathan also shares an incredible testimony of a young man named Pey, who used to worship Buddha while in training to be a monk. At age 14, Pey was captured and forced to join the militia and later faced execution for desertion. Listen to hear about how the Lord used capturing and imprisonment to display His grace in Pey’s life.It can be hard for us to see that even in the darkest parts of the world the Gospel is advancing, but God is redeeming people from the most broken circumstances every day. The Gospel will prevail! We need to be believers who will take the light of the Gospel and shine it into those dark places. Why We Can Trust the Bible
What we do with the Word of God determines how we view Christ. In this episode, Brody discusses the reliability and authenticity of the Bible by walking through questions like how we got the Bible, why are there different translations, and what are the manuscripts of Scripture? In today’s world, there are constant attacks on Scripture, so we need to be confident in the authority of Scripture and know that it can be trusted. God’s word is pivotal to how we approach both Christianity and life. It is sufficient to guide us through every circumstance. Take time to read the Bible and keep a high view of God’s Word. Let it shape your worldview and become the lens through which you view culture, sexuality, marriage, and every aspect of your life. When Heroes of the Faith Fall
It is discouraging to see people we hold in high regard fall away from the faith. How do we recover when giants of the faith fall?In this episode, Brody shares a time when someone he held highly fell away from the Lord, and he walks through how the believer should respond when this happens. There are faithful men and women who finish strong. When someone falls away, let’s allow it to refocus our mission. You will not look back on your life and think you pursued the Lord perfectly. Hebrews 11 talks about men and women who weren’t close to perfect yet they were still found faithful. They had major failures in their lives, but God used them anyway. When someone falls, intensify the fight. Refocus the mission. Pursue the Lord and proclaim the Gospel. We are called to persevere until the end. We will do it because He that is in us is greater. Let’s pick each other up and encourage one another. As we kick off a year that’s already been crazy, let’s continue in faithfulness to the Gospel. Resources:John 1Galatians 6:2Hebrews 11We're thankful you're listing to No Sanity Required!
