The Bomb Hole

One of the most influential skiers of his generation talks stem cell injections, pain pills, big wave skiing, his quick rise to fame in the ski world, a decent into dark times, sobriety, glacier camping, comparing ski and snowboard cultures and so much more. At 16 Tanner Hall was kicked out of school and given by his parents one season to prove that he had what it takes to make it in the ski world. During this time he pretty much won every contest he entered and even today still hold’s the second most medals in X Game ski history. What goes up must come down so eventually injuries and fast living lead to substance abuse and dark times. Tanner did the work and found sobriety, his drive and love for the sport helped him to overcome obstacles and now sober he is still pushing himself with contests like X Games real ski and the Free Ride World Tour. Tanner grew up being inspired by snowboarders and was influenced not only by how they ride the mountain but even how they dress compared to the country club attitude of skiing at the time. The prolific snowboard filmer and movie maker Jake Price get’s into hanging from a helicopter in Alaska, advice for the next generation of filmers, making 60k off a chapstick commercial as a child snowboard actor, sneaking backstage at concerts, what it take’s to be a backcountry specialist in today’s world of film making, bringing snowboard culture to films and so much more. A true Icon of snowboarding Russell Winfield talks about preserving snowboard culture, being the first and only black snowboarder to have a pro model, the rockstar era of snowboarding, why reverse camber sucks, ice hockey, tweaking grabs in the 90’s, inclusivity, barrier to entry and so much more. Russell who dropped the quote “Im the Jackie Robinson of this shit” on the last cover of snowboarder magazine was crucial in the 1990’s to helping transform snowboard culture from racing and ski driven to the freestyle more skateboard influence vibe that it has today. Russell was part of Ride snowboards when it dropped, traveling the world with the Ride team offering kids a chance to bite into this new snowboard culture. Russell’s Fat Albert Pro Model art from that era is still sought after by collectors and he is working on a new pro model with ride for 2022. A life changing avalanche, broken back, broken teethe, lacerated spleen, getting sober, contests, video parts, Burton OneWorld and more. Jill is the future of women’s snowboarding, we talk rider of the year, coming out as part of the queer community, work ethic, Monster Energy sponsorship and much more. Jill Perkins found snowboarding at what is now considered a late age at 17, but through hard work and commitment was sponsored two years later at 19.
