Deep dives
The Power of Breathwork
One of the tools that could have greatly helped me in dealing with anxiety and stress earlier is breathwork. By consciously focusing on my breath and practicing slow, deliberate breathing, I could have alleviated some of the debilitating effects of anxiety. Breathwork has the ability to change the state of our bodies and minds, providing a sense of calm and grounding. Incorporating breathwork into my daily routine has been transformative, helping me manage stress and find peace.
The Value of the Mute Button
Another valuable tool I wish I had recognized earlier is the power of muting. Muting people on social media or in real life allows us to create boundaries and protect our mental well-being. Not everyone's opinion needs to be constantly heard or internalized. By muting negativity or unconstructive criticism, we can cultivate a healthier environment for growth and self-acceptance. Muting allows us to prioritize our own mental health and selectively choose the voices we engage with.
Turning Resentment into Action
One of the biggest challenges I face is dealing with resentment towards societal injustices and my experiences as a Black man in America. While it is essential to acknowledge and address these issues, it is equally important to channel that resentment into action. Rather than letting anger consume me, I have learned the importance of actively seeking out and supporting individuals and organizations that are making a difference. By following and connecting with those working towards positive change, I can be part of the solution and contribute to creating a better future.
