The Human Component to Programming with Brandon Schultze
Brandon Schultze is an online coach and owner of Atomic Performance and Educator for Pre-Script® which is a principles-based education company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of human performance by forging better coaches and creating better athletes. During the interview he discusses the human component to coaching and programming, and how he got to where he is now. He started in the industry about seven years ago, initially as a personal hobby and love for working out and training. He has since developed a course around breathing and training. He shares his knowledge and skills to a younger training crowd as well as to people looking to improve their job. He talks about the importance of understanding the human component to training and programming.Highlights QUOTE #1What are some of the ways that you have continued to stay motivated and continued to educate yourself?QUOTE #2And that's kind of the fitness industry as a whole. It's like we kind of look in these directions that like, oh, my knee can't get over my toe so it must be my ankles that are the problem.QUOTE #3If that exercise that I'm prescribing isn't making a positive change to some other area of their fitness that I'm specifically implementing that exercise for. Like, if I'm implementing a squat or a split squat, like front foot elevated kind of goblet hold to help.QUOTE #4And so when it comes to making the decision to pivot and to measure performance, what are some of the baseline metrics that you keep in place? Meaning how do you determine whether or not it is stay the course type of performance or you need to pivot performance?QUOTE #5Right, but that active mobility or active range is going to be more applicable to your work with that client. So when they're moving in front of you, when you're prescribing exercises, getting an idea of how they move and their sort of default mode of moving is important for just prescribing exercise in general. Maximize Your Time: Proven Strategies for Effective Time Management
Chris Liddle guest hosts this episode to talk about time management in your life and in your business. We go over defining priorities, creating a todo list, time blocking, eliminating distractions, taking breaks and some of the real life examples that help him in his own day to day. HighlightsSo if you're programming workouts, you want your workouts to take an efficient amount of time, and you want it to be a consistent quality every time. So you want to set up the environment that allows it to happen. And so for them, taking breaks might be like professional development. Maybe they're diving into a professional development podcast. Maybe they're looking at taking like an art course or a graphic design course. So you want to create structure in your work life that allows you to dial it back while still staying on track with your goals. So keeping that end goal number in mind, then that means that you might need to do semi private training or small group training. When you are really focused on a task, you want as few distractions as possible. You can't necessarily have your phone open next to you, you can't necessarily have messaging systems active and notifying you, because if they are, then you're going to have to stop what you're doing, then restart.Unless you are fully booked and you have other employees serving your people, if it's just a one person show and you are looking to get more clients in that capacity, I would put your energy into bettering the service that your clients are getting and then looking at leveraging those happy people as part of your marketing plan. Industry Power Players: Insights from Top Online Business Innovators
In this episode of the PT Profit Podcast, we highlight seven episodes from the past six months featuring industry power players and online business innovators. We are featuring clips from Episode 173, 175, 192, 196, 212, 213, and 216. These guests include Colin Boyd and Jenny Rearick, who will talk about presentations and speaking, as well as Dan Feldman, Ali Kershner, Randy King, Rico Incarnati and Drew Manning, who will discuss topics such as professional development, setting boundaries, motivation, content creation, storytelling, inspiration, willingness to do hard things, and self love. AI was used to help curate some of the best moments out of several hours of content to produce this episode.Highlights"Now what I didn't realize at the time, it was an irresistible offer because out of the 137 people, 125 of them gave me their personal details to follow up. I had a little fishbowl jar that I got from the 99 cents store at the back , but . I literally had 125 pieces of paper with people's names and details on that.So I followed it up and, and did a whole bunch of like free coaching. And from there I ended up signing 12 full-time paying clients. So I went from zero to hero in my own mind of like do it building my coaching business. Four days later a director from HP calls me and says, love the presentation. Can you come and speak at our next global training day?""one of the key things to distinguish yourself amongst other professionals at that level is how well effectively and confidently you can communicate""most of my clients don't pay anything out of pocket to see me. I bill their health insurance companies and health insurance companies pay me, which is very, very cool.""my official title is Director of Creative Strategy. Now, what that means is part marketing, part facilitating, I teach our workshops. I do our mentoring online, one-on-one coaching. So I have my hands in a little bit of everything and I've had to learn pretty much any skill.""I ran a gym, a gym in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, called KPC Self-Defense for 15 years. And through that platform, I jumped international. And now my full-time job is public speaking and talking to people all around the world about self-defense, self-protection, and mostly my focus is all of the skills that lead up to a physical encounter and ways to deescalate ahead of time because the people I serve are not just martial athletes and fit people. Self-defense is for everyone. So whether you are 75 years old or 13 years old, your self-defense strategy shouldn't rely on being a young fit human.""if you're someone who's brand new to making videos, if you're someone who has no idea what to do, the number one reason most people get crippled is because they're like, I have to have the perfect plan. I have to have the right lighting. I have to have the right camera. Like you have an iPhone, you have a Samsung, whatever you wanna say. Like, these cameras are machines now these phones are machines. You have something in your pocket to start making content.""When you live an unhealthy lifestyle, you eat lots of processed junk foods, you don't, you know, you're not exercising. How that factors into you as a human and you as a father, as a mother, and you as a spouse, you as a business owner, you know, and all your relationships. And how it all stems from living a, a, a, an unhealthy physical lifestyle and how that carries over into other aspects of your life. Because a lot of people don't realize that." How to Optimize Your TikTok for Business and Audience Growth with Wave Wyld
Today we're talking to TikTok expert Wave Wild about how to use the platform to grow an audience and business. Wave talks about how the platform is different from other social media, and how to take advantage of the unique culture of TikTok. She emphasizes the importance of understanding the platform, creating content that resonates with the audience, and using the platform’s features to optimize content for maximum reach. She also provides advice on how to measure success and track progress. Wave's advice provides insight into how to use the power of TikTok to engage an audience and grow a business. The pandemic changed the business of a content creator who was doing photo and video for business owners. A friend suggested that Wave join TikTok and they had fun experimenting with the platform. After creating some semi-viral videos, she noticed that her Instagram audience had questions about how to use TikTok for business. This was a lightbulb moment when she realized she could help other business owners use TikTok as a tool for social media marketing and she decided to go deep into this niche. There has been a lot of demand for this knowledge and it has been a blessing.Wave discusses the differences between TikTok and other social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook. She notes that on TikTok, users can be more authentic and there is an emphasis on entertainment and having fun. She explains that the algorithm tailors content to users based on what they watch and consume, and that you don't have to dance to be successful on the platform. She notes that Instagram is a more curated platform and that users don't have to show up in full makeup or with professional lighting and camera equipment on TikTok.HIGHLIGHTSWe know on social media it's not the whole picture. So you have to really recognize when you start comparing yourself to other people and stop. Believe me, I've been through all this stuff and this is why.My colleagues because why me? Yeah, stay in your own lane. I had a business coach years ago tell me, like, you need to stay in your own lane. And I even do this now because I don't want to be influenced by what other people are saying. You care about the quality of those followers. You don't want just any followers. Followers who could potentially become customers. So I teach more of a quality approach, and it doesn't intimidate people who are new as much who feel like pressure.People want more content ideas and they want to know what the newest content ideas are. So they're going to follow me to get more of them because I want more of this content.I teach content pillars, also known as content buckets or content categories, like other social media. You do that on Instagram, you would do that on TikTok too, right? You do the same thing.Don't forget to leave a review on Apple Podcasts.About Today's Guest Wave Wyld is a TikTok and Social Video Expert. How to Live a Limitless Life with Andy Ramage
Coaches, want to live a limitless life and help your clients do the same?Andy Ramage is an advocate for the alcohol-free community. He stopped drinking 10 years ago and it changed his life for the better. Now he wants to inspire others to do the same. In this episode he defines a middle lane drinker as someone who drinks averagely, heavily, moderately or not at all, which is around 70% of the adult population in the Western world.Andy believes that taking a break from alcohol can have a transformative effect on one's life. The conversation in this episode is about the fitness industry's all-or-nothing mentality and how it relates to alcohol. Andy shares about how he started drinking at 13 in order to fit in and how that led to a problematic relationship with alcohol. He explains how it felt like an elixir to fit in and how society's marketing and adults in their life made it seem like a great thing. After getting injured at 20, he fell into the world of the stock market and without competitive sports in his life, he felt that alcohol was his go-to for settling social anxiety. This connection between social settings and drinking stayed strong throughout his life. This conversation is about the influence of social environments on drinking habits. Andy explains how he found himself in a very social drinking environment when it came to entertaining clients, as well as spending time with friends and family. Though it was not excessive compared to his peers, it was still too much to lead a limitless life as he does today. He emphasizes that what many people consider normal or moderate behavior is far from acceptable in terms of alcohol consumption. He explains that his story is important and should be heard by the 70% of the adult population who are in the middle lane of drinking, which means sometimes drinking moderately, sometimes heavily, and sometimes not at all.You are going to love this episode!HIGHLIGHTSAnd so for me, I want my kids to be around an environment where they have to really go the extra mile to make that conscious choice where the choice becomes so conscious and it's not accidental. The alcohol-free revolution is now you are gonna look like you are miles ahead of the game, even now miles ahead of the game by introducing this into your coaching, into your training. If you are interested in, in performance and wellness, for me, foundationally a break from alcohol's gotta live in that package, hasn't it? It's gotta be in there with your meditations and your ice baths and your exercise and your nutrition. You want the, the best performance, you wanna get the best results and, and this is the secret sauce for any of the trends listening. All of your clients will get better results. In terms of the training side, I think if you can live and breathe that message, and again, it has to be part of your story, but if it is part of your story, live and breathe that message and see the results that you get and talk about the consistency that you now have, I think is a great place to start.Don't forget to leave a review on Apple Podcasts.About Today's Guest Andy is a former professional athlete, who following an injury which cut short his career, went on to co-create two multimillion-dollar city brokerages. But after achieving traditional “success” Andy was left feeling broken. He was unfit, unhealthy, overweight, stressed and unhappy.Andy believed there had to be another way to be successful while staying super fit, healthy, maintaining a happy home life and doing it with a smile on his face. So, 10 years ago Andy went on an adventure to study the art of behavioural change and elite performance. The techniques Andy uncovered transformed his mind, bSupport the show

Unleashing the Potential of AI In Your Business
In this episode of the PT Profit Podcast, guest host Chris Liddle discusses how Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology can be leveraged in the fitness industry to help trainers and clinicians stand out. He identified five ways AI can help with content creation: content generation, content curation, content optimization, content scheduling, and reverse engineering captivating content. AI can be used to generate written content such as blog posts, articles, and product descriptions. It can also be used to analyze large amounts of data to identify relevant content for a target audience and optimize content for maximum impact and reach. AI can also help schedule content publishing at the optimal time based on user engagement patterns and audience demographics. Ultimately, AI can be used to reduce time spent on content creation and increase personal trainer's reach, helping them stand out in the fitness industry.HighlightsYou can extract clean data from every relevant source on the web with no code. So this is basically like having a supercharged assistant that helps you get through things that you would be looking at anyways, but helps you get through it more efficiently. You can use it for business intelligence, basically looking at your market, spending less time in collecting information and more time analyzing the data and making informed decisions. You can use it for competitive marketing, product availability, content aggregation, staying on top of the latest news, updates and research. And on the note of personalized artificial intelligent videos, there is also another platform called B-Human AI. So if you have ever bought a product or service and gotten a personalized message from it, maybe it was from the coach that you worked with, maybe it was from the founder of the business that you just purchased. So if you go to Tome app is essentially generative storytelling on demand. So where Tom could be useful is if you have to story tell and present on a topic and you need visuals and you need key points and you need it to be concise but also deliver what you're trying to say.It is a little bit of a learning curve going from one video editing software to the other. But what I would say is Descript is very user friendly, meaning that as you are starting to learn things, they're going to be easy to figure out just because of the platform and being very easy to find the features, find the buttons, and get help as needed with Studio Sound. Getting Stronger Faster in Pregnancy with Erica Ziel
Erica started experiencing knee pain when she was five and the doctors told her it was growing pains. When she stopped growing at 14, her parents took her to the Mayo Clinic and the specialists there told her she needed to strengthen her legs. This was the turning point for Erica and she began her journey into strength training at a young age. She found success in her training and eventually became a specialist in the field. Erica shares her story with Beverley on the show.Erica experienced the power of movement to heal the body at a young age and was fortunate enough to learn how to do Olympic lifting with a great coach. She went on to study exercise science and Pilates, which further opened her eyes to the world of movement and healing the body. She was able to get rid of her own knee pain by the time she was 21 and continues to help her clients with their own movement and healing.Erica is a serial entrepreneur and Pilates instructor who started exploring fascia and pelvic floor function. She found that many of her clients, particularly moms in their late twenties and thirties, were experiencing aches and pains and being told by doctors that they would either have to have surgery or suffer with the problems for the rest of their lives. Erica realized that through fascial training and addressing pelvic floor function, she could help her clients. She switched her certifications to understand the techniques and verbiage used in the fitness world and found that focusing on the fundamentals of movement could help eliminate the pain and dysfunction her clients were experiencing. This led her to create her own instructor training.Erica gives an overview of his signature program, Core Rehab, which is designed to help people, even those without physical dysfunction, to learn more about the importance of balance and strength. She also created a pre and postnatal exercise specialist course to help instructors better understand the body and labor during pregnancy.Erica explains that she has seen that pregnant women can become stronger faster during pregnancy, but they should still be cautious and get their doctor's approval before beginning any exercise program. She emphasizes the importance of understanding the core and how to engage it properly, as this will help a pregnant woman use her core with every movement. HIGHLIGHTS"Those are like three common things that we see a lot of and are taught a lot of in fitness, still taught in fitness. And my first thing is, and I educate them on why I don't, I want them to start to be aware that we need to start breaking those habits.""How are you measuring performance? How are you changing the experience so that moms, so that your clients and, and, and you know, and important, how are you communicating as an instructor? To really shift expectations and help clients see that they're having progress.""Or he has to have energy and connection up through the entire body, feeling a light pelvic floor, lower belly, all the way through the top of the head, like with that full lift.""So, and a lot of women, especially a lot of moms, they talk their pelvis because it was a way to help compensate during pregnancy. I am, oh, I am untucking pelvis.""It causes us to lose space in our hips, causes us to use our back too much, and it causes massive imbalance in the pelvic floor. And so then if we have a tucked pelvis and we're going up and down in a squat in more of a tucked pelvis way, and we've got it loaded with a heavy weight and we're really not focused on lengthening through our body, we're not focused on finding the movement through our pelvis."Don't forget to leave a review on Apple Podcasts.About Today's Guest Erica Ziel, mom of three, received her Health and Human Performance degree from Iowa State University, is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition PractitioSupport the show

The NEW Way to Niche
Hey Coaches! The traditional methods of finding a niche are outdated and may be preventing you from growing your business. Coaches should focus on finding a niche based on their values and the impact they want to create. Think about the common problems you can solve and what makes your services unique. Once you have identified these components, you can then find the ideal client you want to serve. The surface level ways of connecting with an audience, such as narrowing in on a certain demographic are outdated. Instead, look at the individual experience of each person and use that to connect with them. This is a way to stand out in the industry and find ideal clients. It is important to look at the individual experience of each person so that you can connect with them in an authentic way and stand out in the space. In this episode we talk about how to find one's niche without feeling constrained by traditional methods. The new way to find a niche is to get specific in four different areas. The first of these areas is getting specific with the problem that the business is trying to solve. The second is to create a unique solution or process. The third is to get specific in one's target audience and the fourth is to get specific with the language used. This is a way to connect with one's ideal client and cut through the noise. If you enjoy this episode, please leave a review and 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts and send me a message on IG @bsimpsonfitness to share your biggest takeaways!Highlights"But when you start layering in your context your unique mechanism based on principles, you start to transcend into a new market, a market of one and its specificity. And you'll be able to communicate that type of specific process way of solving the problem and you'll start to cut through the noise and stand out.""And then the second way that you can niche is start to get very specific in your process. So you're going to create your own unique solution, your own unique mechanism.Release trying to find your niche and instead get specific in one or more of these categories, and you will subconsciously connect with your ideal client, and they'll raise their hand and say, yes, you're for me.""And when you are general, you are running the risk of speaking to no one and running the risk of leaving revenue on the table because your ideal client doesn't realize that you're for them."
