True Kindness: Beyond Being Nice
Kindness is one of the fruits of the Spirit, but it’s not talked about as much as some of the others. Is it because it’s just so simple? Are Christians just supposed to be nice to others, and that’s the extent of this fruit? Or is there more to biblical kindness? Today, we explore what it means for believers to show kindness to others. We talk about what biblical kindness can look like, and how we can actually do it. Remember, it’s a fruit of the SPIRIT. This means that we cannot truly bear this fruit apart from the work of the Spirit in our lives! This means that being kind is so much more than being nice. It’s not less than that, but it’s so much more!
What is biblical kindness? (9:52)
Why should we show kindness to others? (18:53)
Different ways kindness can look:
Kindness looks like speaking truth to people. (21:20)
Kindness looks like considering others better than yourself. (25:14)
Kindness looks like being generous. (26:42)
Kindness is extending mercy to others. (28:56)
Kindness is being nice, serving others, living sacrificially, etc. but with the right heart attitude. (31:22)
How do we do this? (33:10)
Remember the gospel and make it personal: daily confession (34:51)
Depend on the Lord (36:44)
Be in the Word (38:55)
Be a part of a local church. (39:48)
Practice gratitude (41:17)
Practical suggestions to consider (42:03)

Infertility and the Hope of the Gospel with Glenna Marshall
Infertility is so hard. It’s a tender topic marked by deep pain and sorrow. It can be confusing because what is being withheld is good; children are a gift from God! Statistics tell us that so many people suffer from infertility, and we may ask ourselves, “Why?” How can we understand why some people suffer from infertility from a theological perspective? How can the Lord comfort us in this deep pain? And how can we grieve with hope over unfulfilled desires?
Today, we are joined by Glenna Marshall. Glenna understands this topic because it’s part of her story. We are so grateful for her willingness to share her story and how she found hope in the gospel in her suffering. Glenna actually wrote a lot about this in her book, The Promise is His Presence. She also authored the book, Everyday Faithfulness. Be sure to follow her on Instagram @glennadmarshall!

The opinions of guests on the Daily Grace podcast do not represent the opinions of The Daily Grace Co., and we do not necessarily endorse the resources that they recommend or mention on the show. We believe it is valuable to hear from a variety of guests, even if we do not agree in all areas. What Does it Mean to Fear the Lord?
All throughout the Old Testament and New Testament, we read that God’s people should “fear the Lord”. We also are told in many verses to “fear not” or “do not fear”. Fear is a hard emotion for us to understand as it is; the differences in these verses can make it extra confusing! But because the fear of the Lord is a topic woven throughout all of Scripture, we know it’s important. So we have to ask: what is the fear of the Lord? How does it impact our real, everyday lives? And if it’s a good thing, how do we grow in our fear of the Lord?
Many conversations on this topic simplify the fear of the Lord to awe and reverence, and that’s not wrong. But this is such a tremendous calling for believers that it’s worth digging deeper. Come join our conversation!

Is Church Really Worth It?
It’s one thing to see the value of the local church, and it’s another thing to faithfully attend and invest in a covenant community week after week after week. That takes commitment; it takes time and effort. And there are many life seasons and circumstances where we might ask ourselves, “Is church really worth it? Do we have to go every week in person?” Especially in our digital age where we can listen to sermons online, we may wonder what the benefit is in going to church in person.
In today’s episode, we explore 10 different scenarios where we may ask ourselves if church is really worth it. While we understand that there are certain situations where attending church in-person is not an option (and we offer encouragement to you if you’re there!), we want to make the case that in-person church is the better option. Here are the scenarios we cover:
Is church really worth it when online church is available? (12:03)
Is church really worth it when we’ve experienced church hurt? (19:11)
Is church really worth it when you’re in a busy season? (21:42)
Is church really worth it when you’re raising young children? (24:12)
Is church really worth it when you’re struggling with depression? (26:47)
Is church really worth it when you’re wrestling with specific sin patterns? (30:02)
Is church really worth it when your church is struggling? (33:02)
Is church really worth it when you already have community? (36:46)
Is church really worth it when you don’t know anybody there? (40:54)
Is church really worth it when it’s been a long time? (46:26)
Church is always worth it because of the value God placed on her. The church is the bride of Christ. The church is the body of believers, working together for the good of the whole and the glory of God. The church isn’t perfect, but there’s no gathering in the world that compares to the gathering of God’s people.

Wrestling with Doubt with Laura Wifler
Can true believers have doubt? Or does doubt cancel out faith? Doubt can be scary. It can cause us to self-isolate because we’re afraid of what others may think of us. Maybe we’re afraid of putting words to our doubts because we’re not sure what they mean about our faith. Struggling with doubt can also bring about shame. So how do we work through our doubts well? How do we help others in their struggle? Laura Wifler shares her own story and helps us navigate this intimidating topic with grace and wisdom.

Jealous People, Jealous God
We get jealous. In our homes; in our work; in our social circles, both online and offline. Our jealousy is often akin to envy. We desire something we don’t have. But what about the jealousy of God? Throughout Scripture, we see it say our God is jealous. His name is “Jealous”. What do we make of this? More often than not, our jealousy is a sinful jealousy. But God, being holy, is jealous in a righteous way. There is a godly jealousy, and as His image bearers, we can be jealous as He is jealous.

Responding to Deconstruction: Turning from Faith, Evaluating Convictions, and Everything In Between
Deconstruction is a hot term, but what does it even mean? Does deconstruction always lead to deconversion? Or can people “deconstruct” their faith and actually reconstruct their faith to be stronger and more biblical? Is deconstruction a good or bad thing? What if we’re wrestling with our beliefs and wanting to deconstruct? How should we go about it? What if we know someone who is questioning or rejecting Christiainity? How can we support them? Most importantly, how does the Bible play into all of this?

How to Pursue Discipleship When Life is Busy
We’re all busy, and yet, we’re all called to discipleship. Yes, what we see in Scripture is that disciples make disciples. Discipleship is not just for those in vocational ministry; it’s not just something “super” Christians do. It is something we are all called to pursue! Maybe we know there are many benefits of these types of relationships, but we don’t know how to pursue them in our busy lives. Remember: discipleship can look different, and there are practical things you can do to make it happen!

You’re in a Battle: Engaging in Spiritual Warfare
What comes to mind when you hear “spiritual warfare”? Are you apathetic? Are you consumed by it? Are you confused? As believers, we need to have a biblical approach to this very real spiritual war that we’re all facing. We need to go to God’s Word to see what it tells us about Satan and his demons and how they work in our world. Scripture calls us to be prepared to engage in battle, and we need to know how we can practically do this in our day to day lives.
