Episode 251: Emily Infeld & Elise Cranny
Emily Infeld and Elise Cranny of the Bowerman Track Club join me today on the show! This is the last of the Fun Friday series I’ve been doing over quarantine. I knew it would be a good one to cap the series off with. Big thanks to Koala Clip for supporting this 6 part series!
Emily is a 2015 World 10k Bronze Medalist, a 2016 Olympian in the 10k and a 2018 US XC Champion. You can hear more from her in episode 21 and episode 147 of this podcast!
Elise is one of the newest members of the Bowerman Track Club- she was a 12 time All-American at Stanford and was runner up at the NCAA championships 4 times.
One fun thing to note is that Elise and Emily were both coached by Coach Chris Miltenberg in college so it was fun to hear them talk about that and then of course being coached by Jerry Schumacher now.
This conversation is super casual and laid back and along with how they are handling training during quarantine, we also get to hear what they’ve been up to outside of running and how they are feeling about the coming year. We also have some fun listener questions at the end and get to hear who on the Bowerman team they think would make the best Bachelor contestant.

Episode 250: Amelia Boone
Returning guest Amelia Boone joins me for a Friday Fun episode!
Make sure you check out my first episode with Amelia- episode 203 if you want to get to know her more. Amelia is a 4x world champion and one of the most decorated obstacle racers in history. She is a 3X winner of the World’s Toughest Mudder, a Spartan Race World Champion, a Spartan Race Points Series Champion and a 3x Death Race Finisher.
Beyond her athletic accomplishments, Amelia works full time as a Corporate Attorney, doing much of her training in the early morning hours.
In July, Amelia came out with an article sharing that she had admitted herself to treatment to address her long-time battle with an eating disorder. You must read her article HERE where she shares about the process. I can’t do it justice with my own writing.

Episode 249: Michael Wardian
Michael Wardian is everyone’s favorite serial racer and he’s on the show today! Mike has made a career out of doing what he loves… racing. All the time. He works full time as an international ship broker while running a lot of miles on minimal sleep. It’s just what he does. He started running marathons in 1996 and the rest is history. Since that first marathon he has taken his marathon time down to 2:17, has competed in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials and run 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents.
His list of wild adventures and accomplishments can be found HERE on on his website but one of my favorite parts of his story is that he and his wife have traveled with his kids to all over the World to his many races and the characteristic he uses to describe what that has taught his kids is patience and I love that so much!

Episode 248: Chris Turner honoring Ahmaud Arbery #irunwithmaud
Today I speak with my friend Chris Turner. This episode is dedicated to honoring the life of Ahmaud Arbery. Chris and I talk about racial injustice and what we can do about it in this Country.
Ahmaud Arbery was an unarmed black man out for a run when he was shot and killed by two white men. This happened on February 23rd and the arrest for his murder finally happened yesterday, Friday, May 7th after a heart wrenching video was released.
TODAY, Friday, May 8th there is a 2.23 mile run to honor Ahmaud- join me for a run, walk or jog and use the hashtag #irunwithmaud
A little bit more about my guest today – Chris is a graduate of Florida State University and lives in Tallahasee, FL with his wife of 12 years Shanell, their 5 year old daughter Roxanne, and their pets Dali (dog) and Draco (cat). He has a 15 yr old son Dylan who lives in Pittsburgh. Growing up a military brat (mother Navy, dad Marine Corps) he grew up surrounded by “diversity”. He’s a runner and triathlete who has completed 8 marathons and 3 half iron mans. In his free time he serves as an assistant cross country coach at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, a board member of the local Red Cross, and a fundraiser for the Donna Foundation. He’s a fan of Disney, Doctor Who, Hamilton, and wants to remind you that not all Slytherins are Death Eaters.
I met Chris through my work with the Donna Foundation and when I posted about Ahmaud yesterday, we started a discussion through facebook messenger and I asked him if he would share his thoughts on this podcast. I am grateful for his voice and that he was willing to come on and share!
Thank you for tuning in today friends.

Episode 247: Laura Thweatt – 2:25 Marathoner & 5th place at the Olympic Marathon Trials
Laura Thweatt, a 2:25 marathoner recently placed 5th at the Olympic Marathon Trials in Atlanta. Though the goal was to make the team and place top three at the trials, there was a lot to be said about Laura’s 5th place finish and in a big way that day, she resurrected her marathon career after a long battle with injury.
Laura raced fiercely and bravely in February at the trials and laid it all out there. It was so fun to see her race with so much confidence and if you weren’t a fan before I don’t see how you won’t be after hearing this conversation. On top of being an insanely talented and driven runner, she is really fun!
Laura lives in Boulder, Co and trains with Joe Bosshard’s group. In this conversation we get to hear about what it’s like to be the only marathoner in that group and why she chose to train with them. We also get to hear about how different her training is now compared to what she used to do and what the trials race meant to her. Laura and I also might just get into a little “Love is Blind” talk as well at the end of the conversation, because a girl just can’t help herself when she finds out the person she is interviewing is invested in trash TV like she is.
Enjoy my conversation with Laura!

Episode 246: Jenny and Scott Jurek
I catch up with returning guests Jenny and Scott Jurek on today’s episode! I am absolutely loving having returning guests on for these fun catch ups. I was excited to talk about one of their most recent big adventures in this episode – they bike packed around Japan WITH their 1 and 3 year old kids! I love that they don’t let having small kids get in the way of seeking adventure and walked away feeling encouraged to do the same.
Scott and Jenny are author’s of the book “North” – a book that documents their journey on the Appalachian Trail. Scott put in the miles and Jenny put her heart into crewing him and supporting him on this big adventure.
Scott is perhaps most known for his book Eat and Run and for his 7- consecutive straight victories at The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run, he has also taken victories in the 153-mile Spartathlon, the Hardrock 100 and the Badwater 135-Mile Ultramarathon.
Jenny is an outdoor apparel/activewear designer, badass ultra runner (she has 2 100 milers under her belt!) and advocate for safe maternal health for women all over the World.

Episode 245: Jordan Hasay
Jordan Hasay returns to the podcast for a third time! I have been wanting to talk with Jordan since the fall and am excited to have finally had the opportunity to talk with her. Many would have said she was a favorite going into the Olympic Trials Marathon if she was healthy and ready to race but she walked away finishing 26th. You’ll hear about what happened during the trails, how she felt and how she’s feeling post race. We also talk a little bit about how she’s been feeling since the separation from her long term coach Alberto Salalzar and how it’s been working with her new coach, Paula Radcliffe.
Make sure you listen to the first two times she was on the show- episode 128 and episode 179.

Episode 243: Molly Seidel & Jon Green
Molly Seidel placed second at the Olympic Marathon Trials in her debut marathon in February and in this episode we get to talk to both Molly and her coach Jon Green.
Molly runs for Saucony and trains out of Boston. She went to Notre Dame where she won the NCAA Cross Country title – becoming the first and only person since to win both an NCAA XC title and the US Footlocker championship title in high school.
After battling some injuries and facing some setbacks she ran her debut half marathon in San Antonia running a 1:10:27 and followed that up with a 69:35 in Houston. In this episode Molly and her coach Jon talk about the not so planned decision to go on a debut the marathon at the trials.

Episode 242: Courtney Dauwalter, Maggie Guterl, Sally McRae
Courtney Dauwalter, Maggie Guterl and Sally McRae- there of the most badass women in Ultra Running join me today for a light hearted fun conversation. Nothing really serious here just good people and good times!
We do get to hear about the Quarantine Backyard Ultra the three of these ladies just participated in and the 100 miles they are potentially planning to run next weekend as well.
Toward the end, we dive into some new song/quarantine ideas, a little trivia and some listener Q&A!
To note- this isn’t my best audio quality and about 20 minute in the audio does improve a decent amount!
