Episode 352: Isaiah Jewett – Making his first Olympic team 10 days after winning the NCAA title in the 800m

Isaiah Jewett had a massive year in 2021. He won the NCAA championships in the 800m. The time that he ran in those championships made him the #1 time of all time at USC where he went to school. Just 10 days later, he finished 2nd at the Olympic Trials to make his first Olympic team in the 800m. He made it to the semifinals at the Olympics and had an unfortunate fall with Nijel Amos and didn’t advance to the final. There is so much on the horizon for Isaiah. Episode 351: Jess Hofheimer – 3:09 marathon at 45. Beauty in the process.

Jess Hofheimer just ran a 2 minute personal best at the California International Marathon. This PR was 8 years in the making. She ran a 3:11 in Boston 8 years ago. There are a lot of layers in Jess’ story but the one thing that rings true in Jess’ story is that there is a lot of beauty in the long game and in having patience and in believing in the process. Jess talks to us about her process to getting to this PR, her experience with disordered eating and how seeing a therapist has changed her life, working with her coach David Roche, and so much more! Jess also has a coaching business, is the mom of 3, and has an art business. Episode 350: Colin Bennie – 7th Place & Top American at the Boston Marathon

Colin Bennie was the top American at the Boston Marathon. He placed 7th and ran a 2:11.26. This was just his third marathon and his first marathon major. Colin ran for Syracuse University and was part of a national championship team there. He placed 9th at the Olympic Trials in 2020 which was his marathon debut. He qualified for that race at the Houston Half Marathon. He was third at The Marathon Project last year where he ran a 2:09 marathon. He is coached by Chris Fox at the Reebok Boston Track Club who was also his college coach. It was interesting to hear from someone that is being coached professionally by their college coach! Episode 349: Sara Vaughn – Marathon Debut at CIM

Sara Vaughn is a returning guest to the show! She was first on the show on episode 283 if you want to go back and learn more about her. She also was on episode 302 with Steph Bruce and Alysia Montano to talk about motherhood and running on a panel that we did with the Donna Foundation. If you don’t know Sara, she is a full time realtor, running at a very high level, and is the mom of four. In 2017, she made Team USA in the 1500m after having her third baby. She ran in the Olympic Trials this summer in the steeplechase. She is about to debut her marathon at CIM in December and I am so excited to cheer for her! Episode 348: Lanni Marchant – 11th at NYC Marathon Running for Release Recovery Foundation

Lanni Marchant is on the show today! Lanni is a Canadian runner and she is a 2016 Olympian where she ran both the 10,000m and the marathon. She held the Canadian record in the marathon for 6 years from 2013-2019 with a 2:28. Since the 2016 Olympics, she has had a wild few years of surgeries, loss in her life, grief and so much that she has walked through. She took some time off of running and you’ll hear what that was like in this episode. After that, she decided to run the NYC marathon this fall where she unexpectedly placed 11th and ran a 2:32. In that race, she raised money for an addiction awareness program. Episode 347: Emily Durgin – Catching up on her big year of racing and new sponsor!

Emily Durgin is back on the show today! She was first on the show in the summer of 2020 on Episode 274. If you want to get an introduction to Emily and her running, go check out that episode! So much has changed in her life since we first talked! When we first talked, she had recently announced that she joined the Under Armour Dark Sky Distance team in Flagstaff and she had really just begun taking her professional running to the next level! This past summer, in 2021, she had a big year! First she placed 9th at the Olympic Trials in the 10,000m against a stacked field. Then she placed in the top 3 at a US Road Championships four times! She placed 2nd at the Peachtree Road Race in a time of 31:49 for the 10k. Episode 346: Sabrina Little – 5-Time Ultrarunning US National Champion on Philosophy, Running, and Motherhood

Sabrina Little is an ultrarunner. She is a 5-time US Champion, a 5-time US national team member, a world silver medalist, a team gold medalist from 2013, and she previously held both the 24-hour and the 200k American Records. She placed 12th in the 2018 Trail World Championships in Spain to score for Team USA’s Bronze Medal. In 2019, she ran the fastest 100k and 50 mile times for women in the US. Episode 343: Nell Rojas – 6th place in Boston, patience is the way forward

Nell Rojas just finished 6th at the Boston Marathon as the first American woman! What an exciting race for Nell. She ran a 2:27:12 which is around a minute PR for her. This was only Nell’s fourth marathon and her first Major Marathon. She had some big wins over the last couple of months. She won her first national championship at the US 10 Mile Championships and she also won the Cooper River Bridge Road Run.
