Episode 426: Susanna Sullivan – 6th at the Chicago Marathon & Team TCS Teachers

Susanna Sullivan is back on the show today for the post NYC Marathon podcast series. Susanna ran the Chicago Marathon and also the 5k the day before the NYC Marathon. She was recently on the show for episode 396 after she finished 3rd at Grandma’s Marathon in a time of 2:26:56. Susanna ran in the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Trials in the marathon. She is also a 6th grade teacher. She ran the Chicago Marathon in a time of 2:25:14 and finished 6th place overall and as the 2nd American. Just a few weeks later, she went to NYC and ran the USATF 5k Championships. She was in New York with the TCS community celebrating teachers. TCS is doing some really cool things honoring teachers and she shares all about that in the beginning of this episode! Episode 425: Natasha Wodak – New Canadian Marathon Record in 2:23:12

Natasha Wodak recently broke the Candian Record in the marathon at the Berlin Marathon in 2:23:12. This was a 3 minute PR for her. Natasha is a two-time Olympian. She ran in the 10,000m in 2016 and at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics she ran the marathon where she placed 13th. She is sponsored by Asics. Theresa Hailey ran her OTQ for 2024 at the Chicago Marathon. She ran a PR in 2:36:40. Go check out her Instagram – @runninggingerly. She has some really fun recaps over there of the entire race! Episode 418: Alicia Vargo – Running, Relationships, Grief, and Motherhood

I have wanted to interview Alicia Vargo for years now! So I am very excited about this conversation. Alicia Vargo ran for Stanford University. She is a two-time NCAA 10,000m champion and she finished 5th in the 2004 Olympic Trials in the 10,000m. More recently, she has transitioned to trail and mountain running. After the birth of her first daughter, she ran the Fastest Known Women’s Time for the Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon. Alicia was married to Ryan Shay who tragically lost his life at the 2007 Olympic Trials in the marathon. We talk about that part of her life quite a bit in this episode. We also talk about her life now. She is married to a wonderful man, Chris Vargo, and they have four children. There is heartache in that story too that Alicia shares in this episode.  I have watched her from afar walk through some really difficult things and I have always been super intrigued by her resilience and I’ve always wanted to know more about her. I am so grateful that she shared her story so openly and honestly in this episode. Emily Sisson just set the American Record in the marathon at the Chicago Marathon! She ran a 2:18:29. She also set the American Record in the half marathon in May! Emily is having herself a year!!
