Erin Cooper – Salomon takes the Bridge in Chicago
Erin Cooper is the Senior Brand Manager for Salomon North America. She’s the mother of two and training for her second marathon. She will be racing the Chicago Marathon next weekend- hoping for a PR which would be a time under 3:24!
I’m super excited to be partnering with Salomon for Take the Bridge which is a unique urban race directed by Darcy Budworth that is taking place on Friday, October 6th in the West Loop, Downtown Chicago! Make sure you go follow Take the Bridge on instagram to learn all about what they do!
Here is the deal with Take the Bridge:
This specific Take the Bridge in Chicago is a women’s race. You are on a team of two and you run together. You’ll pick a team name and when you sign up you will both type that in and get matched.
Race will be in the West Loop neighborhood – final address TBD, getting announced soon

Stephanie Howe is an ultrarunner supported by North Face, a toddler mom, and has a PhD in Nutrition & Exercise Physiology and loves teaching people how to eat and train for long-term health, performance, and happiness.
Stephanie’s career highlights include: 2014 Champion of Western States, 8th at 2015 Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc, 2015 Champion of Lake Sonoma 50 miler, 3rd at Western States in 2015, 2017 Champion of the Bandera 100k, and 4th at the 2019 CCC 100k.

Episode 488: Deena Kastor Live at the 2022 Chicago Marathon
This episode is a recording my live interview at the Chicago Marathon expo! With Chicago coming up so soon, I thought that this would be a great time to share this episode!
Deena has long list of incredible accomplishments, including previously being the American Record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:19:36. She is a 3-time Olympian and won a bronze medal in the 2004 Olympic in Athens and also has won both the London and the Chicago Marathon. She also holds a 5,000m PR of 14:51 and 10,000m of 30:50. She also holds the American masters half marathon and marathon records in times of 1:09:36 and 2:27:47.

Episode 487: Lindsay Flanagan – 9th at the World Championships Marathon
Lindsay Flanagan is on the show today fresh off of her 9th place finish at the World Championships marathon in Budapest! This was her fourth fastsest marathon of her career. She has run 17 marathons total!
Lindsay has had an incredibly successful last few years of racing. She ran a PR at the Gold Coast Marathon in 2:24:23 which was also a course record there! She ran 3 marathons in 7 months last year. Lindsay is sponsored by ASICS.

Matt McDonald finished 10th at the Boston Marathon this past year in 2023. He was the 2nd American behind Scott Fauble. He lives in Boston and trains with the BAA. He placed 10th at the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials running 2:12:19. He has PR of 2:09:49 and a half marathon PR of 63:56. He is a graduate of Princeton University, he holds a doctorate in chemical engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, and is currently a post-doctoral associate in chemical engineering at MIT.

Episode 483: Chuck Schwartz – Air Academy High School
Chuck Schwartz is on the show today for another episode of the high school coaching series sponsored by V.O2.
Chuck is the head cross country and track coach at the Air Academy. He has been coaching for over 25 years. He had a very successful running career himself. He ran at Adam’s State University where he was coached by the legendary Coach Joe Vigil. He won a national championship in the steeplechase at Adams State University.
Chuck has so many accolades as a coach including 13 individual state champions that he has coached and most recently his girls cross country team won the 2022 Colorado 5A Division State Championship. Vanessa wrote the book It’s a Marathon Not a Sprint, My Road to the Marathon and PhD. It’s the story of taking on two challenges, training for the marathon and beginning and finishing a doctoral program in Medieval History. Episode 481: Lisa Taylor; Traverse City Central High School

Lisa has been the coach at Traverse City Central High School for 30 years. She coached the 2008 Michigan State Championship team as well as the runner-up teams in 2004, 2010, 2014, 2019, and 2020. She has coached 41 individual All-State runners, 16 regional championships, 20 Big North Conference Championships, and 13 times coach of the year nominations from the Michigan Intercollegiate Track Coaches Association. She was Michigan High School Division 1 Coach of the Year in 2008. She also just retired from Executive Director of the Traverse City Track Club, Michigan’s biggest running club.
Lisa was a high school state champion in her own running career in cross country and track and field!
I loved hearing from Lisa that she doesn’t value how fast her athletes are running and instead about if they are having fun, if it is a good team environment, helping them become leaders, and how she can gain their trust.
