He shares with us quite a few different examples of ‘workouts’ that they use and what the goal is of each. Bill then discusses how he periodizes his workouts around them, and where there are times he may back down because of them, and even why he may not back down at all. We then discuss some of the pros and con’s of the Division III rules, and how that impacts all the work he’s doing with his student athletes. We finish off discussing how he feels coaches can implement more of these types of methods, and expand our role in developing leadership. Make sure to give him a follow on IG @billdelongis for great examples of this. We are hoping to provide the best possible content for strength coaches with each of our shows. My Thoughts Monday #125-The Power of Routine

“At the end of the day, I feel like we can all do al little bit better at making sure that we are there to help support the routines of the athletes that we get to work with, and we are able to build out these routines by teaching them and empowering them because of what we have been able to do in the past.’This My Thoughts Monday is brought to you by Vald Performance, the team behind the NordBord, ForceDecks, the GroinBar and HumanTrak. With all their products providing evidence-based solutions to performance professionals so they can get the right information, for the right decision, at the right time. Make sure to go check out all their great products at: www.valdperformance.comIn this weeks My Thoughts Monday I share another self reflection from this season. Over the past 10 months we have really worked to help the athletes develop a routine. This has been a big challenge to me because, in some cases, these routines may not have been what I would have thought would be the “best option”. This has made me really take a step back, listen, and work WITH the athletes to help do what is best for them. This has been, in my opinion, really successful, and the athletes have really bought into it and not only have done better with those routines, but also with the “basics” aspects of the program. Would love to hear how you have helped your athletes build a “routine” and/or any road blocks you, as the coach, had to get past in order to best assist them in getting themselves in the best “place” possible to perform. We are hoping to provide the best possible content for strength coaches with each of our shows.
