Yoeri gets to work with AFC Ajax’s developmental squad along with a couple other side ventures in training in basketball and fighting. We start out talking about training basketball, how he got into basketball and what are the driving factors to his training philosophy with developing basketball players. We then discuss his transition to soccer, talking about the difference in the athletes, and what things did and didn’t work in basketball vs pro soccer. We then discuss the role of physical preparation in the development of an athlete and where it may need to take a back seat at times, and strategies he had success with getting the pro soccer players to get into the weight room. My Thoughts Monday #147- Living And Leading With Our Experience Living In “Plan B”
“When we start to get frustrated can we start to bring ideas that can help eliminate our frustration, that can eliminate other peoples, let's call it, lack of vision as to how they can be more flexible and more adaptive.” This My Thoughts Monday is brought to you by Vald Performance, the team behind the NordBord, ForceDecks, the GroinBar and HumanTrak. With all their products providing evidence-based solutions to performance professionals so they can get the right information, for the right decision, at the right time. Make sure to go check out all their great products at: www.valdperformance.com As we continue to progress into this return to sport during COVID-19 I’ve had the luxury of being able to discuss with a lot of practitioners about their plans, policy’s, and procedures in the process. Many of these coaches has expressed the same concerns, and that is a lack of leadership. In this weeks My Thoughts Monday I share where I feel we, as performance practitioners, can lead better, and really help drive our departments forward because we are so used to having to evolve and be agile and flexible with what we do.
